Chapter 512 - Chapter 116: Pyrrhic Victory? Crushing Defeat?_3

Adam's Hammer, with his face half-human, half-machine, looking more like a mask than a real face, stared at Mercer and Lucy holding each other in the car, and said with no emotion, "It seems my timing isn't quite right?"

"If you know you're interrupting, then get lost," Mercer's words had just fallen when the Octopus Arm on his shoulder sprang out like a spring, smashing fiercely towards Hammer's face.

Hammer only had time to slightly turn his head, bracing his body to use his shoulder to block the attack, but was directly knocked flying by the punch.

The unexpected speed and strength even made his brain momentarily stall — where did this guy get such a bizarre thing!? The speed of this strange arm was even faster than his reaction time with Sianwistan activated!?

Before he could recover, a white ghostly shadow appeared beneath him while he was still in mid-air, like a phantom, a Samurai Sword piercing out from his chest.

Hammer glanced down to see the sword trying to cut its way up and split him in two.

With no expression, he grabbed the blade with one hand and exerted force, while the shoulder cannon on his shoulder auto-rotated 180 degrees and fired.

V had to let go of the Samurai Sword and sidestep to dodge.

"You should've aimed for my head." Hammer's words had just fallen when V replied with a sneer, "Then why do you think I didn't?"

In the sky, Rebecca's colorful armor fell like a meteor, aiming the Peacekeeper she had picked up somewhere, given by Mercer, at Hammer's head.

As she repeatedly pulled the trigger, Rebecca shouted, "He's mine! V, I must kill him myself!"

This was the first time Hammer's face showed an actual sign of displeasure — were these people really arguing over who gets to kill him?

Looking at Rebecca's overwhelming presence... truly seeking death!

In fact, V wasn't in the mood to let anyone take the kill; the only reason she didn't aim for his head was her engine was broken, and facing Hammer, who had been knocked away, she couldn't jump high enough to reach his head.

The more compression and precision, the easier it is to break. V's armor, despite the extensive effort put into EMP and impact resistance for the sake of lightweight, only had a single layer of insulating coating.

In the face of this super EMP which almost assaulted an entire convoy, her ability to still move was already a testament to Mercer's high level of ability.

The Dragon Breath Bullets spewing from Rebecca's Peacekeeper forced Hammer to shield his head with his arms, as every bullet ignited flames upon impact.

And the flames not only forced Hammer to protect his head but also had to endure the visual interference from the flames.

V wanted to help, but then two Arasaka Agents equipped with Sianwistan appeared beside her, forcing her to change targets promptly.

At this moment, the battlefield was filled with gunfire, and the soldiers of Netherworld Dog and Jack Mann were not idle, more than twenty elite Arasaka agents were charging in from the surrounding ruins, many equipped with advanced implants like the Frenzy System.

Just dealing with these elite agents after the EMP strike was already overextending them, and the soldiers of Netherworld Dog were losing their lives almost every few seconds.

Yet Mercer sat in the car, suppressing his impulse, not immediately going out to help.

Where had Takemura gone?

In Mercer's mind, that was the only question.

His Prosthetic Eye had suffered some damage from the EMP, making things look very blurry, and in fact, at this moment, the enemy's electronic warfare equipment was still in effect.

Electromagnetic interference disrupted the signals, completely cutting off Mercer's support from Venus.

At this moment, Mercer's brain was working rapidly, his eyes quickly scanning the surroundings, trying to figure out where Takemura might appear from the battlefield's situation.

If he were Takemura, where would he appear and start acting...

After three seconds of observing the battlefield and two seconds of analysis, at the sixth second's arrival, Mercer raised his Zhuo Shotgun, using the Octopus Arm to drag himself out of the car.

Only revealing half his body, he swiftly lifted the shotgun toward the right rear of his car, firing the trigger towards the seemingly empty street and buildings.

All connected smart bullets were evenly programmed by Mercer to fly automatically, and bullet rain shot out like raindrops towards the distant air.

After three consecutive shots, there were suddenly sparks lighting up in the air.

Takemura Goro's figure twisted out of the air, with a slightly surprised expression, but it didn't stop him from slicing the incoming bullets with merely a Samurai Sword.

The remaining bullets hitting non-critical parts of his body just clinked off.

Without nonsense, Takemura's character was almost an extreme contrast to Hammer's; single-handedly holding the sword while raising a Pistol with the other hand, he aimed at Mercer's position and repeatedly pulled the trigger.

Mercer didn't dodge or evade, having lost the Network Access Vault, even the Synaptic Accelerator had short-circuited due to a hit by an EMP during electronic warfare.

Yet, with his intense concentration on the enemy, his rapidly operating brain could vaguely discern bullet trajectories through Brain-Machine Overclocking.

The Octopus Arm suddenly sprang out, swatting away several bullets flying toward his head, then Mercer raised the Zhuo Shotgun, pulling the trigger aimed at Takemura's head.
