Victor said.
Mercer nodded, smiling as he glanced at those around him, "Alright, alright, stop lecturing me..."
"Lucy, your turn, you should check too... I've been curious about your stats for a while now." Mercer looked at Lucy.
Lucy just nodded and silently sat in the surgical chair.
Old Wei efficiently went through his routine, checking the stats.
"Physical Potential 13, not bad, Reaction Potential 14, also pretty high, Cool Potential 14, seems this young lady has a good neural tolerance, Intelligence... 16?"
Victor blinked, "That's really not low, where did you dig up this gem?"
That figure was higher than Mercer expected—he thought Lucy's stats would max out at 15, just a bit stronger than Qiwei.
"Haha~ I didn't expect that either... Sixteen points, well done, Lucy!"
Mercer smiled joyfully, giving Lucy a thumbs up, while Lucy just smiled back faintly, "Mm."
Has she been talking less lately?
Mercer pondered but decided not to bring it up and to observe for a while longer.
"Alright, let's prepare for surgery then. According to the schedule, we'll replace Lucy's Brain-Computer Interface and Network Access Vault first, then Pira's arm, and finally Rebecca's surgery... The Gorilla Arm is up to you, Old Wei, and I'll handle the rest of the surgeries myself."
After Mercer finished speaking, Old Wei found it somewhat unsurprising by now.
Rebecca grinned at Mercer, giving him a flirty look, but said nothing too bold in front of everyone.
The surgical schedule was set, everyone had money in their pockets, and after wrapping up this deal in biotechnology, including the extortion money, Mercer earned a total of over 1.6 million.
After allocating 40% to the team fund, about 640,000 Euros, there was still 960,000 Euros for profit sharing among the team.
Even Rebecca and her sibling, as well as Lucy, with only a 10% share, each earned 100,000 Euros.
Mercer and V received 290,000 Euros each.
With the team fund of 640,000 Euros, Mercer decided to invest in the renovation and fortification of the base in Dog Town, as well as purchasing some equipment, like a small server initially costing around 200,000 Euros to set up a secure intranet for the base.
Moreover, they would need to prepare a batch of auto-turrets, cameras, and other defensive equipment to cope with the complex environment of Dog Town.
However, more important than all of this was membership in the Trauma Team.
Mercer decided, before taking on another commission, no matter what, they had to secure some memberships for their people.
So, even though it seemed like a lot of money, Mercer reckoned he might have to put in some of his own funds.
"By the way, Old Wei, did you sell that Mantis Blade I gave you?" Mercer suddenly asked.
Victor turned to look at him, "Not yet, are you planning to equip V with it?"
"Yes, I took a look yesterday, and the Mantis Blades on the market aren't necessarily as good as the one I took down. Turns out Arasaka's Mantis Blade is still a top-tier product."
Mercer explained.
"Sure, you can buy it back at the original price, and I'll just charge a bit for surgery," Victor said.
After chatting for a bit, once Victor officially started the surgery, Mercer fell silent.
Lucy's surgery was the quickest, wrapped up in less than half an hour, and Victor usually took his time with things.
When she was done, it was Pira's turn. He didn't even need full anesthesia, just had to disconnect the neural sensing to the arm from the Brain-Computer Interface.
He replaced his pair of long arms with a set of Zeta Technology's Engineer Series prosthetics. During the surgery, Pira would chat idly with Old Wei.
Old Wei even gave him a can of beer; Pira was drinking and chatting casually with Old Wei. This scene was almost too cyberpunk for Mercer—wasn't he worried that the beer would short-circuit his arm?
When it was Rebecca's turn, she insisted on having the surgery under partial anesthesia. After installing the Gorilla Arm, Old Wei turned to Mercer, "Your turn?"
Mercer nodded, took over, and put Rebecca under full anesthesia without saying a word, then Old Wei and Pira went off to Misty's to have a few drinks, leaving only Lucy to quietly watch him sit by the operation table.
Rebecca initially tried to resist the anesthesia with her willpower, but soon enough, she fell asleep honestly, and only then did Mercer inject the Nanomaterial Armor.
Keeping her awake, who knew what wild words she might blurt out during surgery—Mercer didn't want to accidentally inject the Nanomaterial Armor into her skin.
Once the surgery was finished, Rebecca gradually awoke and followed Mercer's instructions to test the prosthetic, calibrating it, before she lay on her side with a cheerful expression, watching him.
"Does it look good?"
"A bit small," Mercer said truthfully.
Rebecca rolled her eyes, "Then I'll get a bigger one in a few days, how big do you want it?"
"Nah, I like the original stuff, don't bother with that," Mercer said, still offering some compliments, "The proportion is great, don't stress over it."
"I'm not stressed... I'm just asking if you like it."
She chuckled, glancing at Lucy, only to find Lucy still coolly watching the TV, paying no attention to her and Mercer's conversation.
Despite finishing her surgery, Rebecca kept grumbling about feeling dizzy and weak, finally giving in to Mercer's warning look, snapping back to normal, her arms swinging enthusiastically.
The Gorilla Arm installed on Rebecca wasn't as exaggerated as in the anime; it just looked slightly thicker than her previous arm and wasn't conspicuous.
