Chapter 192 - Chapter 62: Blackmail, Collaboration, and Cashing In

V felt a bit pained, but after thinking about it, what Mercer said made sense. We're all on the same team, and it's not her style to argue over a few percent.

The idea of everyone getting a share for the job definitely has that gangster vibe.

On the streets, as long as they're your gang brothers, even if he's just your driver, you must give them a fair share. Otherwise, you better watch out next time he drives you straight into the enemy's den.

V nodded, saying, "I have no objections, so 30% for each of us! Let me calculate, that's, 480,000?"

"Your math is pretty good," Mercer jokingly said, "I thought it might take you another few seconds."

"Screw you, I'm just not used to numbers this big, my heart shakes just going over it once, I need to do it a few more times..." V said.

Even Pira couldn't help but chime in, "Isn't that right, I-I also get 160,000 Euros!?"

"Everyone gets a share," Mercer confirmed, then added, "We'll distribute the money once it hits the account, but honestly, I hope you all prioritize investing this money in yourselves.

With more combat power, there are some jobs where I won't need the whole team; you can do them individually as side hustles, contributing 20% to team funds.

Even if you only earn a few tens or hundreds of thousands Euros on a gig, isn't that better than always scraping 10% of a cut?

We got lucky this time with no troubles, but we can't count on that every time.

Think about it, what if a whole squad of biotech operatives and warriors suddenly popped up behind us chasing us right now..."

Pira awkwardly smiled, knowing this was mainly directed at him: "I got it, boss, I'll hold back a bit on spending at Liz's this time!"

He was genuinely respectful now, calling him boss.

Hell, with that much money, I'd even call him dad!

"Yeah." Mercer stretched, it had been a long day without sleep, and truthfully, he was a bit tired.

"Tomorrow morning, I'll go find Wagako to close the deal and get the million Kuno promised us, then we'll head to Dog Town."

After saying this, Mercer squinted, "First, we'll sort out the base situation, see how much it costs, then at night, I'll host, we'll all go to Rebirth for a drink."

"Rebirth? Oh man, that's awesome!" Rebecca exclaimed in anticipation, "That's a place only the best Edgerunners can go!"

V said proudly, "It's nothing special, I mean, it's just bigger, the people inside a bit tougher, and compared to other bars, it's just cleaner and neater."

"You've only been once, with Mercer..." Rebecca rolled her eyes.

V stood tall and proud: "Still counts as been there, or are you saying your Sister V isn't worthy now? Ha, next time someone stirs trouble, I won't even need A to step in, I'll just twist all their heads off myself!"

"Hmph...Once I swap my cybernetics, I won't be that far behind you."

Rebecca was already envisioning herself wreaking havoc: "I want a Gorilla Arm! Mercer, help me pick one out!"

"Alright." Mercer nodded, determined to help her find a good one.

Those anime-style Gorilla Arms that are almost longer than her body were out of the question; now that there's money, Mercer would rather get her something more advanced than watch her wield two gigantic arms in a bizarre manner.

This Cyberpunk aesthetic is really quite odd.

Seeing Rebecca cozying up to Mercer again, V couldn't help but tease, "Sister, even with Gorilla Arms ain't no match; to catch up, you're still quite far."

"Ha? I'll get a Krenzikov too, once my vision's clear, flashy runners like you, I'll just aim and fire to show you my Iron Gall's power!" Rebecca was conceding internally but not verbally.

V thought Rebecca was underestimating herself: "Even if your eyes keep up, can your hands? I can race cars now!"

"Then I'll get a Frenzy System! As long as my reflexes are up, my strength will apply! Might not run as fast as you, but if I aim well, that's enough!"

Rebecca and V were arguing like this until Pira discreetly pointed back with a finger. The two turned around to see Mercer leaning by the car window, properly buckled in, half-asleep.

V curled her lips, exchanged a glance with Rebecca, and the two simultaneously turned their heads away, marking a truce.

When the car arrived at the Adcardo Camp, Rebecca nudged Mercer, making him lazily open his eyes, "We're here?"

"Yeah, get some good rest!" Rebecca's gentle voice sent chills down Pira's spine.

Mercer responded, unfastening his seatbelt, and grabbed the Zhuo Shotgun he had brought just in case from the car.

"Tomorrow morning, just V needs to come. The two of us will hand over the commission, get the money, and I'll reach out to Hans to see if he can arrange a place for us in Dog Town.

If he can't, then I'll personally go to Dog Town with V."

After that, Mercer waved his hand, "That's it for now. I'm going back for a good sleep. You all should rest early too. V, I'll drive to pick you up in the morning."

V nodded, "Alright, I'll wait for your call."

"What about me? Nothing for us to do?" Rebecca wanted to do something as well.

"Go online and figure out what cybernetics you want? Once the money's divided and a place is settled, you guys will get a set of proper gear, then we'll take simple jobs to get the team warmed up."
