Cherreads

Chapter 104 - Chapter 51: Because of Kindness

A bald guy with a fierce expression reached out and pulled her into his arms.

V just clicked her tongue, glanced over, and then looked away. If Mercer and Qiwei weren't there, she might have intervened directly.

But now, she didn't want to cause trouble for Mercer. As a fragile hacker, a stray bullet might just send him to his grave.

Qiwei remained expressionless and indifferent.

Before meeting Mercer, no one had ever helped her, not even once, so why would she suddenly be overwhelmed with kindness at a time like this?

"Boss..."

The waitress turned helplessly to look behind the bar, but the boss pretended not to see and dove right back into the kitchen behind the bar.

Afterwards, the light in the waitress's eyes almost vanished, leaving only tears welling up. With a forced smile, she allowed the Animal Gang to pull her toward the seat, her face pale.

"Whoosh."

A flying knife suddenly sliced through the air, embedding directly into one of the Animal Gang's heads.

The gang member dazedly touched the back of his head, feeling only a handful of blood, and then he fell to the ground, eyes rolling white.

Everyone took a closer look only to realize it wasn't a flying knife at all, but a very ordinary... table knife.

"Ha... I've been meaning to ask you idiots, why do you even call yourselves the Animal Gang?

Animals are supposed to be cute; I could hug them all day...

But when I see you, I just want to wipe you all out!

A bunch of beasts... die!"

A young girl with green twin-tails, youthful features, but dressed provocatively, cursed them while leaping onto a table.

Rebecca stood on the table, furiously raising a thermos, cursing as she hurled it with all her might.

At the moment the knife was thrown, V sensed something was off. Without a word, she pulled the inexperienced Qiwei under the table.

At the same time, she looked at Mercer with a wry face: "Did I really say something unlucky?"

"Based on experience and the situation, yes." Mercer quickly raised Kenshin.

V sighed: "You getting involved?"

"Of course." Mercer started charging the trigger.

"Why, because that little girl looks pretty or the waitress is cute?" V quipped, but her hands moved fast, grabbing her pistol, and promptly aimed.

"Because I'm kind."

With a stoic face, Mercer released the charged trigger.

Two tungsten-tipped rounds pierced through the air, and V's pistol roared with a deafening noise.

Mercer and V's exchange happened almost simultaneously with Rebecca climbing onto the table.

As Mercer and V sprang into action, Rebecca's thermos hurled out with her last word, and it struck an Animal Gang member in the eye socket.

The electromagnetic-driven tungsten-tipped bullet penetrated an Animal Gang member's head, and V's large-caliber pistol made another's head explode like a balloon.

The thermos hurled by Rebecca shattered the eye socket of the Animal Gang member it hit—the thermos wedged firmly into his eye, shattered bones piercing his unprotected brain.

V whistled: "Not bad, sister."

She thought if it were her, she could smash the guy's head with a thermos, but Rebecca's strength at her size was impressive.

Rebecca stood on the table, hands on her hips, laughing: "Haha! You're not bad either, sister."

Pira, across from her, painfully covered his face, checked the time, and urged: "Enough, Rebecca. We have to go. Another five minutes, and we'll be late."

He could tell V and Mercer were no pushover.

V's modified pistol was visibly powerful, and after firing, her wrist barely shook, showcasing her strength.

And Mercer was a pure tech warrior. His cybernetics couldn't even be scanned, but the craftsmanship screamed high-quality corporate tech.

"What's the rush..."

Rebecca snorted, excitedly ran to a dead gang member, and picked up a shotgun.

"Wow, this thing looks badass... I'm going to paint it green too when I get back! This time, Pira, you better not sell it!"

Rebecca turned to Pira, annoyed: "By the way, where's your gun? Why were you just standing there?"

Pira looked embarrassed, but in front of so many people, he admitted: "Uh, couldn't resist two days ago, sold it, and traded for a night with Liz's Mewtwo."

What a damn genius.

V looked disdainful, while Mercer seemed awestruck.

Rebecca, more frustrated, scratched her head:

"Do you even understand our situation? And you still want us to get work from Wagako? I must've been cursed in a past life to end up with you!"

Rebecca muttered a few curses, then turned to the beautiful waitress still trembling in the pool of blood: "Get up, it's over."

"...How...how can it be over?"

The waitress suddenly broke down.

Pushing Rebecca's hand away, she cried: "It's all over, with so many people dead, I'm gonna lose my job!
