Chapter 72 - Chapter 71: The Beginning of Hawk's Revenge

Hawk?

Anya?

What's all this about?

Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff exchanged a glance.

Hawk's gaze towards Bruce Banner was becoming increasingly calm, and his tone was becoming increasingly level-headed.

"September 10, 2009."

"Manhattan."

"That day, my sister and I were leaving Times Square after shopping, and Abomination appeared, Hulk appeared as well."

"That day, those two monsters fought, and the entire block was thrown into chaos, many innocent civilians died in the aftermath of their battle."

"Including my sister."

"When Hulk smashed Abomination into a high building, falling debris hit my sister."

"..."

As Hawk recounted in a calm and somewhat ethereal voice, Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff gradually began to understand, despite initially being puzzled.

Alright.

The victim's family had come knocking.

Natasha thought to herself, subconsciously glancing at Bruce Banner.

Bruce Banner's face showed a guilty expression.

He looked at Hawk, who was calmly staring at him, and opened his mouth: "I'm very sorry for your sister's death."

Hawk snorted with laughter.

He was about to speak when Natasha interjected, frowning: "Ho... Hawk, we're very sorry for your sister's death, but it's not Bruce Banner's fault, it's Abomination's fault, Dr. Bruce Banner was the one who stopped Abomination."

Hawk's eyes fell on Natasha.

His tone was eerie.

"Are you saying my sister's death was collateral damage?"

"What?"

Natasha was taken aback and then shook her head: "Such events are certainly heartbreaking, no one wishes to see such things happen, your sister's death was an unfortunate accident."

Hawk showed no reaction: "I'll go after Abomination, but my sister died because of Hulk. If Hulk hadn't thrown Abomination, then the debris wouldn't have hit my sister, and she wouldn't have died instantly."

Natasha listened as the words gradually shifted from calm to cold, sensing something was amiss.

Bruce turned to Hawk again, apologetically: "I'm very sorry for your sister's death, truly, if I could, I would definitely make amends."

He's not an evil person, never was.

Otherwise, his first reaction upon awakening Hulk was to flee.

Look at Abomination, who transformed and immediately embodied annihilation.

So...

The guilt is genuine, the desire to make amends comes from the heart.

Hawk listened to Bruce Banner's words and laughed.

He looked at Bruce Banner, and smiled brightly.

"Make amends? You have a chance, hand over Hulk."

"What?"

"A life for a life, Hulk killed my sister, so let's take Hulk's life in return."

"..."

Bruce Banner was stunned.

Natasha was dumbfounded.

She looked at Hawk, her gaze becoming increasingly uneasy.

Do you even listen to what you're saying?

This guy...

Might be a lunatic.

Natasha thought, somewhat speechless, shook her head, and pulled Bruce towards the car.

"Let's go..."

"Boom!"

The parked car not far away made a loud noise as a visible handprint pressed on the car body from afar.

Instantly.

Under the pressure of that handprint, the car was crushed.

Crack!

Natasha instinctively pulled out the weapon tucked at her lower back, quickly loaded it, and aimed the gun at Hawk, whom she had just thought was a madman.

Hawk squinted, looking at Natasha aiming the gun at him.

"Debts have roots, a life for a life, Hulk killed my sister, are you shielding a criminal, Agent Natasha Romanoff from S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

"..."

Natasha's eyes narrowed, seeing that Hawk could accurately call out her name and background: "Who are you?"

Hawk ignored her and instead focused his gaze on Bruce Banner, whom Natasha had just instinctively shielded.

Natasha noticed and said in a deep voice: "Also, Bruce Banner is not a criminal, the President has already pardoned Dr. Bruce Banner."

President?

Pardon?

Hawk smirked and looked at Natasha: "What does a presidential pardon have to do with me? Did I, the victim's family, ever say I wouldn't pursue it?"

Natasha listened to Hawk's words, her expression instantly becoming extremely vigilant.

Just at that moment.

"Natasha."

Bruce Banner, who had just been protected by Natasha, stepped out, pressed down the gun aimed at Hawk, and pursed his lips. He looked at Hawk, who came here to seek justice for his sister, saying, "Listen, kid, I'm really sorry about your sister's death, but that was Hulk, not me. I'm a victim of Hulk too. Believe me, if anyone wants Hulk dead, no one wants it more than I do."

That was the truth.

At least that's what he genuinely thought right now.

He was Hulk's first victim.

Because of Hulk, he lost his military job.

Because of Hulk, he lost the grand house in Quantico and his girlfriend whose dad was a general.

Also because of Hulk, he had to leave the beacon of democracy and run to India, a place stinking of excrement and various curry scents.

Bruce Banner, standing before Natasha, looked at Hawk, who came with accusations, his voice sincere and full of emotion.

Hawk let out a laugh.

"Dr. Banner, I know that right now, you are you, and Hulk is Hulk. That's why I haven't made a move on you. As I've said, grudges have a point of origin, and debts have a debtor. So, I will say it one last time, bring out Hulk. This is between me and Hulk."

"No way."

Bruce Banner shook his head seriously, "Kid, I can't grant that request. If Hulk comes out, I can't control him."

Upon hearing this, Hawk sighed and looked down.

When he raised his eyes to look at Bruce Banner again, the calm in his eyes had completely turned into a coldness like that of eternal ice.

The next second.

Boom!

As Hawk's figure disappeared in an instant, Bruce Banner, who was standing there, was suddenly sent flying backward, crashing into the vacation cabin like a meteor.

Natasha watched as Hawk took Bruce's place, her pupils contracting.

"Than—"

"Bang!"

Hawk kicked the shocked Natasha five meters away, his voice cold, "This is between me and Hulk. If S.H.I.E.L.D. dares to interfere, I won't mind turning all of S.H.I.E.L.D. into unavoidable collateral damage."

Natasha, knocked to the ground, looked completely incredulous.

Just then.

A low roar came from the vacation cabin, which now had a huge hole smashed through it.

Glancing through the hole inside, a faint shadow could be seen struggling amidst the debris, the roar as if restraining something from coming out.

Sister.

I can soon avenge you!

Hawk stood expressionlessly outside the door, took a deep breath, and adjusted himself to his best condition at the fastest speed.

At the same time.

The shadow among the debris in the cabin was roaring increasingly fiercely.

Obviously.

Bruce Banner could no longer control Hulk from coming out. Accompanied by the sound of tearing clothes, the cabin, which had been somewhat restless, completely returned to calm.

The next second.

A large green figure appeared in Hawk's vision!

"Hulk!!!"

The giant Hulk, with a watermelon-like head, leapt out from the hole in the cabin with a bang, announcing his emergence with a roar, and his hands formed fists, smashing down towards Hawk, who appeared weak like an ant in his vision.

Hawk raised his eyes, and at the moment his right hand formed a fist, the ground beneath his feet cracked when Hulk's fist, like a small mountain, descended upon him, responding with his own right fist.

Hulk's large fist collided with Hawk's small fist.

Instantly.

Everything around seemed silent, as if entering a quiet realm.

But...

This was just an illusion. Less than a second later, a sound like a mountain crack erupted, and from where the two fists met, a powerful shock wave instantly formed.

Boom!

The ground under Hawk's feet cracked inch by inch, spider-web-like fissures spreading from beneath him in all directions.

Crash!

Leaping down, attempting to crush Hawk to smithereens, Hulk was sent flying backwards, crashing through the vacation cabin once more, landing heavily.

Crash!

The shock wave generated when the two punched at each other swept outward like a raging hurricane, destroying everything in its path.

The nearby vacation cabin bore the brunt.

The wooden vacation cabin had no resistance at all against a storm-like shock wave. In a blink, the wooden planks at the door were lifted, followed by the wooden door, wooden bed, and even the wooden walls.

Natasha, too.

The hurricane roared five meters away, and Natasha, who had just stood up from the ground, was distorted under the strong shock wave, her face changing as if compressed by the wind, and then her whole body lifted again.

Bang!

Directly lifted by the shock wave, Natasha flew through the air in an arc, landing with a thud on the roof of a yellow Corolla.

Natasha suffered an undeserved misfortune.

As Natasha landed on the roof, the car's windows on all four sides and the windshields shattered instantly.

The roof, needless to say, caved in.

Listening to Hawk's words from underneath a nearby car, Gwen stared wide-eyed at her Corolla, gifted by her dad George when she was sixteen.

And...

The woman lying on her car roof, seemingly asleep.
