Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Gwen Put a Tracker on Hawk

Hawk didn't drive a taxi into Quantico Town; instead, he hitched a ride into the small town.

Because about ten kilometers from the town, he drove the taxi into the water, then walked along the highway towards the town.

But his luck was good.

After walking about a kilometer, he encountered a military spouse living in the town, returning after grocery shopping.

Upon learning Hawk's destination, the military spouse warmly invited him into the car.

Hawk did not refuse.

Once the vehicle entered the town, it didn't lead to the military spouse discovering Hawk was a stranger and inviting him to stay at her home.

She dropped Hawk off at the entrance of a clothing store in the town, and after walking a bit further, he smoothly arrived at the town's motel.

Even though he didn't have a car, he didn't necessarily need one to check into a motel.

No car, just need money.

After Hawk paid the room fee, he successfully received the key to his room and went up to the second floor, arriving at his room door.

Before entering, he turned his head to glance at the entrance of the Quantico Base, visible from his line of sight.

The base was guarded by soldiers.

Vehicles and pedestrians wanting to enter had to stop for inspection.

Hawk merely glanced and then withdrew his gaze.

It was too late today.

Go tomorrow.

Scout in daylight.

Night raid.

Then...

Quick escape, this way, even if the driver's body is found, it would probably be a long time before they trace back to Hawk.

After all, it's just a dead driver.

In some countries, maybe this is a big deal, solving the case overnight.

But here, there are plenty of drivers.

Hawk reckoned that by the time law enforcement traces back to him, he might already have his Holy Armor on.

By then...

I'm invincible, suit yourselves.

Moreover, Hawk didn't think they would trace back to him.

Here's a joke.

The CCTV at the airport taxi stand is broken.

When Hawk got on the taxi, he clearly saw that the only surveillance camera that might capture him had been decapitated.

That's why he didn't bother taking care of the driver's body.

On one hand, it was indifferent; on the other hand, it was based on his understanding of the Federation's law enforcement efficiency over the past decade.

The Federation's law enforcement system is relatively independent.

Simply put, if you commit a crime in New York City and get fingerprinted, then commit another crime in California and leave fingerprints, California likely can't confirm your identity through fingerprints.

Because fingerprint data among state law enforcement agencies is not interconnected.

Moreover...

Hawk lived a law-abiding life, never had a criminal record, so New York City's database didn't have his fingerprint data.

So even if law enforcement finds Blackie and finds his fingerprints on Blackie, they wouldn't be able to find him through fingerprints.

Half an hour later.

Hawk practiced boxing on the spot, throwing ten thousand punches at the air before entering the bathroom for a shower.

After a while.

As he stepped out of the bathroom, he saw his phone ringing on the bed; just as he grabbed it, before he could see the caller number, the phone auto turned off, and the ringtone vanished.

"Huh?"

"Did it run out of battery?"

Hawk was slightly startled, thought about it, and didn't mind, nor did he plan to find a charger to recharge.

Just as he had never used a phone before.

In this world, he had no one he cared about; likewise, no one cared about him.

So...

Hawk shrugged, put the phone aside, lifted the blanket, and laid down.

Sleep, sleep, important business tomorrow.

Hawk thought.

In less than three minutes, he smoothly entered a sleeping state, and soft snores began to fill the room.

New York City.

In her room, Gwen frowned at the once again powered-off notification sound, put down her phone, holding it against her chin, hands on the keyboard, she opened a website, glanced at her phone verification code, and entered it.

Quickly.

A map appeared on the computer screen.

There was a glowing dot on the map.

But the emitted light on the map wasn't Gwen's current location, nor was it New York City.

Instead...

DC Special Zone?

How did Hawk's phone end up in Washington D.C.?

Could the phone have been stolen?

Gwen pondered.

She swore she wasn't tracking Hawk.

Earlier, when she returned home, a message came from her phone account, showing her phone location had left its permanent place in New York City and appeared elsewhere, thus sending a reminder message.

That's when Gwen remembered something.

When she gave her personal-use phone to Hawk, although she cleared the phone data, the phone account hadn't been logged out.

Hawk hadn't asked, so she always thought she had logged out.

Now.

Seeing Hawk's phone location had refreshed its last power-off location in Washington D.C., Gwen first thought it was stolen.

After all, there are quite a few thieves in New York City.

No, it's not a few, it's a lot.

Gwen recalled the grievance when she lost her first phone within three days without knowing where it was stolen from.

Forget it, she'll get him another one when school starts.

Gwen shook her head, closed the phone location website, and refocused on an electronic newspaper displayed on the site.

This was a newspaper published after the Battle of New York.

With illustrations.

The picture showed a block in Jackson Heights almost razed to the ground.

Gwen used the mouse to navigate the webpage, browsing through related reports.

At that moment.

Footsteps came from the hallway.

Gwen snapped back.

In the next moment.

Her eyes lit up as she recalled something, closed the webpage, got up from her chair, and ran to the door, opening it.

"Dad!"

"..."

George, who routinely gives his daughter peace of mind every time he returns home, was startled by the sudden door opening and the slightly glowing eyes of Gwen.

George then smiled slightly, shook his head and said, "I don't have any latest Spider-Man intel to share with you today."

Lately, a Spider-Man going around cities wearing a suit and mask helping people has emerged in New York City.

The New York Police Department was very frustrated.

In short.

If vigilantes in New York were useful, what would be the need for police?

But apart from the New York Police Department, everyone else was intrigued.

Media outlets are thrilled, thinking they've found the latest hot topic.

Netizens are excited, gossiping on forums about Spider-Man's identity.

Gwen was curious too.

Especially since she had a father who was a police captain.

But...

Gwen shook her head and said, "Dad, I'm not interested in Spider-Man."

George laughed.

"Then yesterday you..."

"That was Mary, not me."

Gwen quickly interrupted, then got down to business, blinking her eyes and looking at George.

"Dad, can I ask you something?"

"..."
