I started to jump. At first, it wasn't as hard as it was supposed to be, I guess. I didn't want to jump so loud because I was trying to avoid the fact that maybe those two guys might see me and do something to me. The concerning part was that out of, I don't know, maybe a hundred-plus children, the people who were serving as guards were just only two.
And by the way it looked like they weren't even that strong to the point that they might make me run for my money. Another thing was, out of all the children that I was with, in all of them, I couldn't sense even the slightest trace of mana, which was a big deal.
Not that it really mattered during that time — my sister was busy getting violated by these guys, and if I didn't do anything quick, this might escalate to even a gruesome sight that might scar all of us as the children who were there.
I didn't stop jumping, it's just that I was so self-cautious. My jumps were calculated, and they were so precise. I knew jumping like that wasn't going to do anything, so I picked up my speed.
The jumps were getting louder now, and the two guys really seemed that stupid because all they did was just look around them, and they didn't think of looking up.
"What is that?" The one with a grouch voice asked as he let go of Odessa.
"What are you talking about?" The one with the coarse voice seemed like he had no idea what the heck his partner was talking about.
"You can't hear that?" The one with the grouch voice really felt uneasy.
"Brother, what are you talking about? There's nothing out here," the one with a coarse voice said.
"No, you idiot, listen," said the one with the grouch voice.
The one with the coarse voice really thought that his brother might be starting to get old fast, or maybe he was losing it, but he saw that his brother wasn't joking around and he was serious.
He sighed, "Okay fine, let's hear what you are hearing."
Can someone explain to me that, in that loud noise that I was causing, how can only one person make it out while the other one was clueless? I kept jumping, but once they got serious and focused, I had to stop as soon as they looked up.
I pretended to be asleep. I don't know why I thought doing something like that would even work, because not so long ago I had said something to them, so there was no way that they would believe that.
And they did look up but didn't even see anything wrong. All they saw were just scared little children. They even neglected to notice the cage that was busy swinging around.
"See, I told you that you're hearing your own things." The one with the coarse voice put back his knife behind his back.
"It must be my imagination." The one with the grouch voice sounded disappointed.
Both of them sat back down. When they stood up, they had let go of Odessa, who by the way would have made things easier for me if she was smart enough to see an opening and run.
Once they sat down, Odessa didn't run but instead she had attempted to step away from them. But the one with the grouch voice took the shackles and pulled back Odessa to him.
"And where do you think you're going, princess? Don't you know that you belong to us now?" He said with a big smile on his face.
I know I shouldn't have revealed this, but I know I had just met Odessa, and from the rumours I heard about her and from the person I saw when I met her, when she was with those guys she was different. She was afraid, and trying to hide it wasn't working anymore.
"Darn it, I don't know why these chains don't get loose." I was getting frustrated.
When I was putting on my award-winning deserving act, I had let go of the cage bars, but soon after they got distracted and got back to their pervy thing, which didn't take that long by the way.
The cage had stopped swinging, which meant that I had to start all over again, which was something I wasn't looking forward to do.
I took a deep breath and readied myself.
"Okay Persues, you have to try this once again."
Despite my hands being chained in the corners of a cage so small, it was like a one-person prison cell.
I went back and forth. Normally, as time went on, I began to pick up my pace. When I saw that it was working and the cage was starting to swing, that's when I picked up my speed and ran back and forth, and the cage's swinging speed picked up too.
Of course, I was fully aware of this. Now I had to deal with the other problem — jumping up and down. My progress wasn't different from the first one I did where I walked back and forth. I jumped up and down carefully without raising any suspicions.
Honestly, I don't know what I was thinking, because of course the cage and the chains were going to make noise.
"Fudge," I said.
Hey, this story might be full of gore, death, and might be dark, but I'm no monster, so instead of using a vulgar and unkind language, I chose to substitute it with that word.
The reason I said that was because I was trying to stop myself from doing that because I didn't want to get caught, but at the same time, I realised I had no other choice.
"You know what, screw this." I realised something.
I realised that there was no need for me to be careful with this, because if I was, eventually I was going to stop, which meant that I might have to start all over again, and that was one thing I had no desire to go through again.
So, as soon as I saw that the chains were getting affected by my jump, I made sure that I grabbed on the cage bars and held on tighter like my life depended on it — because it did.
To make sure that I don't get worn out and tire quicker, all that I had to do was give my jumps a count, which was three, and between resting in those three jumps I would take a break of thirty seconds and not a second after.
Did it work?
Why don't you see for yourself? I don't know how long I had to keep going with that plan, but one thing I believed is that it was working. It might not be how I pictured it, but the good part is that it was going as planned.
I kept jumping up and down, and whenever I thought I felt the cage no longer swinging, I stopped jumping and I would run back and forth.
Everything was working accordingly, which was the scariest part, because from my own experiences, if your plan worked perfectly, it usually meant something was bound to go horribly wrong. It was just a matter of time before I could find out.
The good news was the chains were getting loose, and now here was the bad part — as the cage was busy getting unhooked on the chains, I had to swing it once again, because I might be playing hero right now, but I still had no intention of falling to the floor without something breaking my fall.
I stopped for a few seconds and looked around for something I could use down there, and it pains me to say that there was nothing there.
"Seriously?" I couldn't believe it.
I kept looking around, and then that's when I saw it, and an idea popped up in my head in no time. It wasn't a good idea. As the story continues, you are going to learn that in most cases, I always have bad ideas — I mean really bad ones, like the kind of ideas that usually lead to one's life being cut short.
But yet again, I'm still alive.
The idea I had, and the thing, or in this case the people, I was going to use to break my fall were none other than those two down there.
"I really hope I don't crush Odessa, or worse, die." I swallowed.
I did make the cage swing, and my force was so strong to the point that the chains were not only getting loose, but the rocks that the chains were drilled into were now cracking.
Yep, you heard me right, and for your information, we were in a cave.
Anyway, back to the story. The rocks started to fall to the ground, which wasn't part of my plan, but hey.
The one with the coarse voice felt something fall on him.
"What the hell?" He dusted off the first dusty rocks.
Then eventually those dust rocks just became hard rocks, and now they were hitting on him.
He kicked his chair and got up, really mad.
"What is it?" The one with the grouch voice asked.
He didn't say anything to him; instead, he just looked up and saw me swinging around.
"You brat!" The one with the coarse voice took out his knife.
I really don't understand why he took out his knife because he was already too late.
All three of them were now looking up, including Odessa.
"Odessa! Move out of the way!" I shouted.
Then I gave the cage one last swing and jump.
The cage finally fell.
