Chapter 489 - Chapter 269: Evolution in the Spotlight, Annihilape! The World's One and Only Monkey!

If there were any, it should have been discovered long ago.

Professor Oak in the audience also suddenly stood up, his eyes fixed on the evolved Primeape, or rather, the Annihilape!

Ash had previously mentioned to him the possibility of Primeape evolving further, but he thought it was just Ash's imagination. He had carefully studied Ash's Primeape, and in terms of the genetic chain, Primeape's form was the pinnacle of its genetic chain, making further evolution impossible.

But Ash's Primeape indeed had something unique, and that was its use of Ghost-type moves, specifically a skill called Rage Fist.

This skill wasn't something other Primeapes had learned; it seemed like Ash's Primeape was an exception.

However, inferring a whole new evolution for Primeape based on that skill seemed somewhat hasty, even if Ash claimed he had detected this result with Aura Power, Professor Oak only partially believed it, maintaining seven parts doubt.

After all, although Aura Power is strong, it's not omnipotent. The idea that it could even detect Pokemon evolution seemed too unbelievable.

But now, it felt as if two invisible slaps had landed on his face; Primeape actually could evolve!

Moreover, first-stage and second-stage evolutions are completely different in meaning. The enhancement from a second-stage evolution is certainly more than that of a first-stage. Some Pokemon that can only evolve once experience tremendous improvement, even comparable to Pokemon that evolve twice.

Primeape originally only had a first-stage evolution. After its first evolution, it wasn't weak at all, with enhancements slightly less than those of a second-stage evolution of some Pokemon. Now, with a second-stage evolution, it might even rival a Quasi-God!

However, all this was just Professor Oak's speculation. He couldn't wait for Ash and Gary's match to end, then head to tomorrow's finals, and after the finals, rush back to his lab to research the new Primeape!

This is a new existence different from MEGA Evolution!

In the special audience section, the Elite Four and Steven all stood up to watch Annihilape on the field. In just two days, Ash had amazed them again and again.

First was the ability to undergo a second MEGA Evolution, and now revealing a new evolution for Primeape.

The Quartz Conference seemed to have become Ash's personal showcase, and Lance and others had long predicted that Ash could win the Quartz Conference's championship, but didn't expect the process to be like this.

"The evolution of Primeape... Ash can always come up with such odd things, truly confirming the saying—heroes emerge from the youth!" Lance couldn't help but exclaim.

If Lance didn't know Ash's age and situation, he would even suspect that Ash was Arceus transforming into a human to play around; the endless stream of new things was too much!

"A brand new evolution for Primeape... it looks pretty cool! I have to get Ash to make one for me too, it should still be a Fighting Type after evolution, right?" Bruno rubbed his hands excitedly and said with anticipation.

"Haha, does it really matter if it's Fighting Type or not? Don't you have any Pokemon other than Fighting Types?" Lorelei rolled her eyes and sarcastically remarked to Bruno.

Despite Bruno being a Fighting Type Elite, his Pokemon weren't all Fighting Types. He even had an evolved Steelix, so Bruno didn't need to worry about whether Annihilape was of the Fighting attribute or not. No matter what, it could fit him.

Just like how Lance claims to be the Dragon Type Elite, look at his lineup, Charizard, Gyarados, Aerodactyl, Altaria, Kingdra, Dragonite. Seeing this lineup and combining it with Lance's statement of being a Dragon Type Elite, anyone who doesn't laugh must be a divine being.

The first three Pokemon, despite having "Dragon" in their names, weren't of the Dragon attribute, while Altaria, with no "Dragon" in its name, actually had the Dragon attribute.

In Lance's lineup, three of the Pokemon weren't Dragon Types, yet he dares to proclaim himself the Dragon Type Elite? More like the Flying Type Elite!

Because five out of Lance's six Pokemon had the Flying Type!

Compared to Bruno, this person really wasn't constrained by a simple attribute; perhaps anything with "Dragon" in the name suited him.

Under Lorelei's strange gaze, Lance shivered involuntarily, feeling as if Lorelei was contemplating some unpleasant matters.

Bruno, having been told off by Lorelei, scratched his head with some embarrassment. Indeed, it didn't matter whether Annihilape was of the Fighting attribute; if he liked it, he would definitely capture one. After all, he wasn't someone bound by the title of Elite attribute.

Anyway, with Lance the pseudo-Dragon Elite at the forefront, what did it matter to him?

...

The chorus of exclamations and discussions around made both Ash and Annihilape smirk.

Exactly this effect was desired! Why else endure so long for evolution? To shock the entire world today!

Since it's a brand-new evolution, it naturally needs to be showcased to the world, letting oneself steal the spotlight... though that was just part of the reason.

Wanting to stand out was one aspect, but the other most important aspect was letting everyone witness Primeape's evolution into Annihilape, thereby making the world's rules acknowledge Annihilape's existence and provide aptitude protection.

This was the conjecture of the big shots in the group, but this conjecture was indeed correct. Because Ash could see that Annihilape's aptitude was continuously changing, not directly upon evolution, but slowly altering as the surrounding exclamations echoed.

[Species: Annihilape]

[Gender: Male]

[Attribute: Fighting, Ghost]

[Level: Professional Senior Level]

[Ability: Defiant]

[Skills: Rage Fist, Cross Chop, Shadow Punch, Outrage, Close Combat...]

[Six-dimensional Ability: Physical Attack S (S) Special Attack C (C) Defense C (B) Special Defense C (B) Physical Strength B (A) Speed S (S)]

Almost within ten seconds, all of Annihilape's aptitudes rose by a level, with Speed and Physical Attack reaching the extreme of aptitude, reaching S-Class!

Before evolution, Annihilape was only at Elite Peak. This evolutionary leap was extremely terrifying, almost reaching a major level, but Annihilape's ability value didn't experience the instability seen in Monferno's time.

Monferno's evolution similarly crossed three levels, yet it couldn't wield even the power of its own level, whereas Annihilape, not only stable at its level, had its two most critical ability values reaching the peak of its current level.

One reason was that Primeape had been accumulating power for too long, unlike Chimchar's forced accumulation, Primeape actively chose to store power in its body, waiting for evolution to unleash it all at once!

Another reason is the ephemeral worldly blessing mentioned by the big shots in the group. Since Annihilape emerged against the world's current rules, two outcomes could occur post-evolution.

One outcome is forced evolution, causing the world to disown this Pokemon, possibly leaving Annihilape unable to progress in the future, its talent even diminishing, for it was abandoned by the world, no longer Annihilape, but a world-abandoned monkey.

The other scenario is evolution gaining the world's recognition. As a new species, the talent could even reach a new height, with future upgrade speeds even faster.

The two outcomes were like heaven and hell. Yet, the big shots in the group provided a method to stably reach heaven: let Primeape evolve under countless eyes, on a stage capturing the attention of all, rewriting the belief that Primeape couldn't evolve!

In this way, gaining the world's acknowledgement and soaring high is practically guaranteed!
