Chapter 71 - Chapter 65: The Kanto Starters, Bulbasaur! Triple-A Rating, Eye of Insight Upgrade

"I didn't just randomly feed her stuff! Oddish was clearly starving and came over looking for food. What kind of Trainers are you guys, letting your Pokemon starve like that without having anything prepared to feed her?" Ash retorted indignantly after understanding what Bulbasaur meant.

Saying he fed Oddish random stuff, what a joke. These were the nutritious meals he and Brock made, suitable for both humans and Pokemon!

Even if you're a Pokemon with a Trainer, you owe me an apology!

"Dana? Dana Dana!"

"You say you don't have a Trainer? Uh... do you want to try some?" Bulbasaur's words left Ash a bit stunned, and he then instinctively pushed the bowl with less than a third of food left by Oddish over.

Bulbasaur used Vine Whip to take it, then tentatively scooped up a bit of the food with Vine Whip to taste. In the next moment, Bulbasaur's once aloof face showed a very satisfied expression.

Ash and Brock exchanged glances, each seeing the satisfaction in the other's eyes. Having their cooking recognized by others or Pokemon was quite an accomplishment for them.

"Bulbasaur just said he doesn't have a Trainer, looks like you were wrong, Brock."

"Hmm, so Oddish and Bulbasaur probably just know each other because they're teaming up in the wild. I didn't expect to encounter one of the Three Starter Pokemon so soon after starting our journey. Such luck..." Brock said, glancing over at an excited Ash out of the corner of his eye.

Since traveling with Ash, in just a month they've experienced events that other Trainers might not encounter in years. It seems like a lot of things can only be attributed to good luck, but who brought this luck?

The answer seems self-evident.

Compared to Brock, Misty knew more things. Meeting Ho-Oh upon setting out and being chosen as a candidate for Rainbow Hero, this kind of luck can't just be called 'good.'

It's more like destiny.

Later, they encountered the rare Shiny Ralts, and after more than half a month, they met one of the rare Three Starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur. This is quite extraordinary, isn't it?

Not far in front of Ash, Bulbasaur finished the food before it and then turned to look at Ash, its leafy green face slightly flushed.

Earlier it accused Ash of feeding Oddish random stuff, but now it had eaten the leftovers itself; this kind of backtracking came so quickly.

But Pokemon don't dwell on such trivial matters. Bulbasaur nodded towards Ash, thanked him briefly, and then intended to leave with Oddish.

Seeing this, Ash quickly called out to Bulbasaur: "Wait, Bulbasaur, if you don't have a Trainer, how about becoming my Pokemon? That way you'll get delicious food like that every day! Of course, I'm not asking you to let me capture you directly. We can battle first."

To capture a Pokemon, a battle is conducted to earn the recognition of the wild Pokemon, and only then can it be captured properly. This is common knowledge.jpg.

However, Pokemon hatched from Poke Eggs are exceptions.

Bulbasaur's face certainly showed hesitation, but in the end, it still shook its head.

"Dana Dana... Dana!"

I have something to guard... so I can't follow you!

Something to guard? If there's no Trainer, what is this thing to guard?

Ash didn't want to easily give up on this Bulbasaur, not just because of its rarity and the fact that he's always wanted a Bulbasaur, but also because this Bulbasaur's personality resonates with him.

From instinctively protecting Oddish initially to now choosing to give up potentially favorable conditions for some promise, it shows that this Bulbasaur is loyal and honorable, keeping promises.

If he didn't strive to fight for it, Ash sensed he'd regret it in his dreams!

Thus, Ash proposed to Bulbasaur that he wanted to see what it was guarding, to see if the issue there could be resolved once and for all, and then take Bulbasaur on a journey.

Bulbasaur hesitated for a while but ultimately agreed to Ash's proposal, leading him to its current home.

"No rush, let's eat first, Oddish hasn't eaten its fill yet." Brock said as he saw Ash and Bulbasaur reach an agreement.

"Right, and Bulbasaur, you probably haven't eaten enough either. Bring Oddish over and join us for some food." Ash warmly invited Bulbasaur and Oddish over to join the other Pokemon for a meal.

Oddish and Bulbasaur came over to where Pikachu and the other Pokemon were, and Pikachu generously shared some of its Pokemon food with Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur tried it, and though it wasn't quite to its taste, it was still quite good.

In appearance, that person was quite pleasant, and the food here was indeed good. But unfortunately, he had decided to guard that little home, so he couldn't go with that seemingly goofy human.

Besides Pikachu, Ralts and the other Pokemon also showed friendly signals to Bulbasaur and Oddish, making Bulbasaur, who was initially wary, gradually relax.

The people he encountered this time were truly different from the people he'd met before.

The way Pokemon got along was friendly, and they got a free meal, too. Moreover, that human clearly desired him, but didn't forcefully capture him. As a wild Pokemon, if he were defeated, being forcibly captured and taken away would leave him no recourse.
