Chapter 79 - We learn curse?

-----

A few weeks have passed by since the mission in Kobe City.

The students returned after they made sure that everything was under control. Once the whole place was ransacked and every curse user was found and neutralised, Naoya and the gang were allowed to go back.

There were a lot of civilians,, both alive and dead, who were involved in this incident, and although Naoya wanted to intervene and check if everything was right with them, it was officially not under his jurisdiction.

There were a lot of questions Naoya had about the whole situation. He felt like most of it looked staged, but who was the mastermind behind it, but he couldn't find out. Most of the things about this whole case were unclear, and the HQ was not going to give him any answers. In their official response, they told the students as well as the rest of the Jujutsu society that Kureha Toujo had gone rogue and was doing unethical things on civilians. No deeper clarifications were given, and Naoya wasn't expecting them to divulge any more info.

Not that he cared much about their official response, he had his own men in the Jujutsu division, and although they were not at the highest levels of authority, they still were able to get some info for him.

The unethical things that Kureha Toujo did were trying to make jujutsu users out of civilians. Most of her 'subjects' died during the experimentation, but many were successful. They could now see curses and even use cursed energy. None of them had reported a cursed technique, but there was a possibility.

Now this was huge and disturbing news. Making artificial sorcerers was not a new topic among sorcerers, and many have tried to work upon it, but because of their failures and the mass killings that followed that, this research was labelled taboo by the Jujutsu Division.

Yet, now there was a person from the HQ itself who was practising this taboo; the scary part was that she was somewhat successful in it too. The people who awakened as sorcerers were seriously mentally scarred and were barely able to function as normal humans, so her experiments were not entirely successful, but she was onto something.

'...I guess it was the right call to end her life then and there instead of capturing her and handing her to the HQ,' thought Naoya.

Leaving a sorcerer like that alive was not something Naoya felt would be beneficial to society.

To him, getting involved in this side of the world felt like bad luck. Sure, it comes with having superpowers, but it also reveals the ugliness of the world. Positivity was almost nonexistent among sorcerers, and he would not like to imagine what a world where everyone is influenced by the curses would look like.

He looked at the twins who were sleeping near him and smiled fondly at them, and patted them lightly.

If possible, he would not even want them to get entangled with the jujutsu world and live a normal life without seeing this ugliness, but he knew that it wasn't possible.

The two were already aware of curses, and though their talents as sorcerers were hampered a lot because of being twins, he knew that the world would not go easy on them just because of that.

Fortunately or unfortunately, they were born in the Zenin clan, and if they remained as is, their position would get way worse. He was there to protect them, but he could not stay by their side all the time. Kagenori was getting older and weaker, too. The people with whom he could trust the kids were not as many as he would like to have.

"Umm...Nii-nii?" mumbled Mai.

'Looks like I woke her.'

"Sorry, did I disturb you?" asked Naoya calmly.

"Umu," replied Mai, and grasped Naoya's hand tightly before going back to sleep.

'...'

Naoya smiled helplessly at that. He was stuck in an awkward pose, and though he could free himself. He decided to be 'stuck' in that pose for a while.

"From tomorrow onwards, you two will be crying a lot. Enjoy the sleep as much as you can," muttered Naoya.

Just like that, the night passed away and the morning arrived.

Today was a weekend, so Naoya was somewhat free after his morning training.

Once Naoya was done with the training, he looked around the field.

"Kiyoshi, John," called Naoya.

Two men who were hiding around him appeared near him and bowed to him.

"Naoya-sama," greeted the two of them respectively.

Kiyoshi Zenin and John Zenin. The two of them are brothers, and they used to work directly for Kagenori, acting as his bodyguards. Now that the old man was getting quite aged, he asked his men to work for Naoya.

The ones working for Kagenori didn't report to any of the three squads of the Zenin clan and were relatively free from clan politics, but the old man knew that his time was coming, and he didn't want the men who served him faithfully to get entangled in the clan politics too much and thus gave them the chance to work directly for Naoya.

Most of them agreed, while the remaining decided to retire from jujutsu activities. Though not as old as Kagenori, many of them were quite old, too.

Kiyoshi and John were the youngest of the group, with Kiyoshi being the older of the two brothers, and for the time being, the two of them have started to work for Naoya, while the rest were still working for Kagenori.

Fun fact, Kiyoshi's and John's mother was a foreigner. From what he heard from the two of them, their father, during a mission, was stuck on a ship by mistake and landed on foreign soil by the time the whole thing calmed down. There, he met with a lady who helped him get through the hardships and during the time he was stuck there, the man developed feelings for the woman.

He later returned alone, but since he was not able to forget her, he returned to propose to her.

The lady was quite shocked by the whole ordeal, and after a while, agreed to the proposal.

However, her father was being kinda r*cist and wasn't giving his blessing for their marriage, which made the lady quite sad and feel a bit reluctant to marry.

Not wanting to see her sad, the boys' father found some weakess of the father, blackmailed him to write a letter to his daughter telling her that he was not against their marriage, and once he sent the letter to her, he was killed by some people hired by the Zenin.

Leaving the less important details aside, once the lady got the letter, she was overjoyed and agreed to marry, though a few days later, when the news of her father's death came, she was shocked beyond belief. It was then that the foreign man who came to propose to her held her tightly and consoled her, and stayed beside her the whole time.

Later, the two came to Japan, got happily married and made a small family.

Another fun fact, John was actually the lady's late father's name, which she gave to her younger son, who resembled his grandpa.

Needless to say, Naoya was shocked beyond belief by the unexpected Zenin lore.

Naoya asked the two brothers if their mother knew about the whole ordeal, to which they told him that their father had died on his deathbed, revealing the entire story to them and their mother.

The mother killed herself a few days later and left behind a note saying that she was going to kill the bastard in the afterlife.

Naoya was even more shocked.

Kagenori was laughing in the corner, seeing his grandson's reaction. He, too, had a similar reaction when he took the two kids under his wing and heard their story.

Anyway, back to the present.

"Kiyoshi, call Maki and Mai. John, bring some training manuals that clan kids use when they start their jujutsu training."

The two immediately understood what Naoya was planning to do and left to do their task.

Minutes later, Maki and Mai came running towards him.

"Nii-Nii called us?" asked Mai.

"Yes. Maki, Mai. How old are you two?" asked Naoya.

"Three!"

The two of them replied enthusiastically, raising three fingers too.

"Right, you two will be four soon.....we will be starting your jujutsu training from today. It is a bit early, but it won't be an issue."

"Juju training?" asked Maki strugling with the word.

"Jujutsu. The curse magic that I and every sorcerer use," corrected Naoya and formed a shadow ball over his fingertip.

Realisation dawned upon them as the kids realised what Naoya was talking about, and immediately excitement surged in them.

"We learn curse?" asked Mai excitedly.

"Jujutsu. And yes, you two will start from today."

"We learn curse! Maki! We learn curse!" celebrated Mai with excitement.

The two of them cheered in excitement, unaware of the fact that they would be crying and would be in pain because of the said training.

Still, that was for the future. For now, the kids were excited to become superheroes.

Tokyo:

In an abandoned-looking building, a woman with a scar on her forehead wandered around, finally entering a room.

Inside the room was a bed, on which a woman was lying unconscious with an IV attached to her.

"...You awake, Kureha?" asked Kaori Itadori.

Seeing no response, Kaori sighed and shrugged her shoulders.

"It's been over two weeks, and you are still unable to take over. Honestly, I hope taking you in won't be in vain."

"Shut up. I am still asleep."

The other woman spoke in annoyance.

"Oh? You took over. Welcome back to life. You probably won't get another chance," said Kaori with amusement.

The woman, or Kureha, who took over the body, slowly sat up and looked at Kaori.

Kaori looked at Kureha's new body before she smiled.

"Even in this life, you don't have any curves. How unlucky can one lady be?" said Kaori and showed off her bust.

"Shut up, you creep! Not everyone can just take anybody they want. This was the only one that was compatible."

"Did you get even flatter?" asked Kaori 'innocently'.

A few veins popped up on Kureha's forehead. She looked down....it indeed looked steeper than her previous body.

"My~ My~, so self-conscious. Don't worry, it is a growing body. Maybe you will get bigger," said Kaori.

"I don't care about all that!" complained Kureha.

"You sure? Curves help a lot in getting some action, you know....ah, by action I mean getting some fu-"

"I know what that means!!!"

Hearing that, Koari looked surprised.

"A super single woman, as you know it. That's surprising."

"You f*cking bitch."

"Hahaha"

Kaori laughed out loud, seeing Kureha fuming.

But soon Kaori calmed down and got serious.

"So, how's it? Did you get the job done?" asked Kaori.

Kureha sighed as well and gave a serious nod.

Kaori's smirk widened at that.

"Things are going well."

"Surprisingly....how deeply ingrained are you in the administration?"

"Not much. Just know what gets the people going. Helps a lot for people like us. Anyway, get changed. We have a lot of work to do," said Kaori, and threw a bag with clothes towards Kureha before walking out of the room.
