"You want to apply to be a maid too?"
Ren hadn't expected Rem to volunteer herself, as not many people could set aside their so-called pride for this kind of work.
"Yes, I don't need a salary. I just want to share my sister's burden. Otherwise, I'll never feel at ease staying home alone. I hope you can give me this opportunity."
Rem looked at Ren with a serious expression, both nervous and hopeful.
"Have you discussed this with your sister?"
Considering that Ram would need to serve not just him but also the other mistresses, having only one maid might sometimes be overwhelming. Having two maids wouldn't be unreasonable.
Moreover, having rare twin sisters as maids greatly appealed to Ren's sense of achievement.
But he needed to consider Ram's feelings. Maids would be living with them long-term, and if Ram became upset with him because Rem joined, he'd have no choice but to dismiss her and find another maid. Currently, he was quite satisfied with Ram.

"Then come see me together after you've convinced her."
Ren left the decision to the sisters. Overjoyed by his response, Rem bowed excitedly in gratitude before turning to find Ram.
"Sister, I've decided—I want to become Ren's maid too, just like you."

Ram, who was wiping down the bar counter that Ren rarely used, froze upon hearing her sister Rem's words.
"Because I don't want to be separated from you. Even if our family has money now, you're not home. We can only see each other once a week—that's not the life I want. Wouldn't it be better if I joined you? Then we could always be together, right?"
Rem took Ram's hand, her expression showing no reluctance, only the joy of not having to be separated from her sister.
Since this was work, and the household was large with many mistresses, there was no reason to hire only one maid.
"No, Rem. You should pursue things you truly want to do. I won't allow you to become a maid."
However, Ram sternly refused. While the job was good, it meant being tightly bound to Ren's life. Her freedom had already become relatively limited, and if Rem joined too, her original purpose of changing their lives to give her sister a better future would be defeated.
"But sister, how do you know that being with you isn't what I want most? Didn't we promise we'd never be separated?"
Rem wasn't discouraged. She looked gently at her serious sister, understanding Ram's protective intentions but hoping even more to live together with her.

Torn between cold reality and sisterly bonds, Ram hesitated. Of course she didn't want to be separated from Rem either, but previously she had no choice.
Now that she was fortunate enough to meet Ren and find work that could support them for life, she naturally wanted Rem to be free from material worries and enjoy life's pleasures.
But Rem's desire was to be with her, which left Ram in a difficult position.
"Sis, I'm not forcing myself at all. Either you resign and we find a way to pay back the money we spent to Ren, or you agree to let me join the job too. In any case, we must stay together forever and never separate."

On the second day after successfully joining, Rem also changed into a maid uniform and began her career as a maid.

So Yuno changed her teaching method—rewards for learning well, punishments for failing to learn.
Both rewards and punishments were provided by Ren, specifically intimate privileges with Ren.
