Li Wei came to them with a proposal.
"I want to search for Cain's other reincarnations."
Adrian blinked. "Other reincarnations?"
"My memories as Cain show me I've lived multiple lives over the millennia. Not all at once like your soul, but sequentially. There might be others out there who carry fragments of Cain's soul. I want to find them, help them understand."
"That's a huge undertaking," Kieran pointed out.
"I know. But it's important. Cain gave everything to save us. If pieces of his soul are scattered, confused, suffering—I need to help them."
Adrian understood completely. "Then do it. We'll support you however we can."
Li Wei and Hao embarked on their quest, traveling the world seeking Cain's soul fragments. It would take years, maybe decades, but they had eternity.
Their departure was bittersweet—Adrian had grown close to Li Wei, had mentored him from frightened teenager to confident vampire. But watching him pursue his own mission filled Adrian with pride.
"Our kids are growing up," Adrian joked.
"We're not old enough to have kids," Kieran protested.
"We are in vampire mentor terms."
