Six months after construction began, the sanctuary officially opened.
Representatives from every supernatural species attended—vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, fae, and species Adrian didn't even know existed. The island was packed with beings celebrating cooperation and peace.
"This is incredible," Wei said, looking around. "You two actually did it. Built something that brings everyone together."
"We had help," Adrian said.
"Sure, but it was your vision. Your dream." Wei clapped him on the shoulder. "I'm proud of you, baby vampire."
"I'm not a baby vampire anymore."
"You're always going to be a baby vampire to me."
The opening ceremony was beautiful. Adrian and Kieran stood together, speaking about their vision—a place where all supernatural beings could come for healing, learning, refuge.
"This sanctuary represents what we can accomplish when we work together," Adrian said to the assembled crowd. "When we set aside old prejudices and embrace cooperation. We hope it serves as a model for the future."
The applause was thunderous.
That night, after all the guests had left or retired to their quarters, Adrian and Kieran stood in the sanctuary's main hall.
"We did it," Adrian said.
"We did." Kieran pulled him close. "Ready to christen the main hall properly?"
"You're insatiable."
"Only with you."
They made love on the floor of the grand hall, under the building they'd created together, surrounded by symbols of peace and cooperation. It felt significant, meaningful—claiming this space as theirs.
"I love you," Adrian said as they moved together. "Thank you for building this with me."
"Thank you for giving me something worth building," Kieran replied. "You've given my existence purpose beyond survival."
They came together quietly, their bond singing between them with love and satisfaction and hope for the future.
