Chapter 7 - TRAINING ARC #7

Kenny: Hey, Diablo. We need your help. Rika's been kidnapped. If we don't find her before the eclipse, she's dead.

*[Diablo stares at Icabod for a long moment. He already knows—the boy has no ability.]

Diablo: Tell me, Icabod… how does it feel when everyone around you has power—and you're broken?

Icabod: Me? I'm… okay with it, I guess. Power isn't everything, right?

Kenny: Are you serious? You don't have any ability at all?

Icabod: I thought you knew. That's why you've always tried to keep me safe.

Kenny (smiling faintly): Finally—someone noticed I was trying to help.

Icabod: Don't dream on it.

*[Tasha enters with a tray of food.]

Diablo: The next eclipse is in three months. Before then, you'll all need to train. You won't be facing ordinary criminals—these are monsters. (He sips his drink.)

Abel: Train? I don't have months! We have to save Rika now—she's family, more than any of you!

Diablo: I understand, Abel.

Abel: I don't think you do.

Diablo: Then tell me—how do you think Rika will feel when you die trying to save her? Maybe even being sacrificed before she is.

Icabod: Sacrificed? How do you know that?

Tasha: Because he's been spying on them since Rika disappeared.

Kenny: Wait—you knew she was missing? Why didn't you do something? You're like a father to us!

Diablo: Three of the ones who took her are on par with me. They canceled my Dominica. Against them, I wouldn't last.

Tasha: That's impossible—you're the legendary "Clap and Flash"! No one can match you!

Diablo: There's always room to grow. Their powers are cursed—nothing like ours. Even walking nukes would struggle against them.

Abel: Walking nukes? You mean my ancestors? What do you know about them?

Diablo: Long story short—your father was my greatest rival. Even on his deathbed, I never surpassed him. But he was a good man. I trained his children because I believe you'll surpass me someday.

Kenny: So he gets the fancy family background? What about me?

*[Silence. Then sudden laughter echoes around the room.]

Diablo: Well, kid… you come from a powerful bloodline. But here's the twist — power and control mean everything to your family. Love? That's rock bottom for them.

Icabod: How do you know so much? When you said "bloodline"… are you supposed to be, like, my grand-papa or something?

Diablo: The thing is… I can live as long as I want.

(He leans back, sighs)

I'm probably a hundred-eighty years old. Maybe more.

*[The room goes silent. Only the faint chirping of birds cuts through the stillness. No one expected him to reveal that.]

Tasha: The hell— aren't you supposed to be dead by now? How do you even live that long?

Kenny: Yeah, what's your skin routine, old man?

Icabod: Wait, are you a vegetarian? Do you avoid women? Or do women drain your life essence or something?

Diablo: (groans) You'll shut the hell up, jeez… Only people like Icabod are privileged enough to live that long.

Kenny: That doesn't make any sense, Diablo.

Diablo: Yeah… I know.

Diablo: Some people are gifted beyond limits. You all have power—maybe even more than I do. But what's holding you back is simple: you lack training. You've never been pushed to the edge, never faced death close enough to taste it.

Icabod: How would that even help?

Diablo: When the time comes, you'll understand. But first—know your greatest trump card: your Dominica. It's the last call of your Sentra, the moment your life force burns brightest when you're pushed past your limit.

(He leans forward, voice lowering.)

But if your opponent can cancel out your Dominica… praise them.

Because that means you're facing a monster beyond human reasoning.

Tasha: And what if we cancel theirs?

Kenny: Then we're on par with brute monsters ourselves.

Icabod: So basically, I'm hopeless if I ever get trapped in a fight like that. What a cruel game—life really gambled on me and lost.

Diablo: (smirks) Not quite. You'll be training with me for the next few months. You might even surpass Tasha—if she doesn't burn your eyebrows off first.

Abel: Wait, aren't we all training under you?

Diablo: Nope.

(grinning coldly) I'm sending you to people who could kill you without breaking a sweat.

Tasha: What the—Dad?!

Diablo smile fades

Just remember he said quietly , training under them means one mistake.... And. You die for real
