Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Enjoying My New Life as the Duke's Daughter

Several days have passed since the incident.

I did not remember which chapter I was in at the moment.

Besides, the plot was already very messy, so what could I expect even if I remembered all the chapters?

I did not really expect much, because I thought I would die after Kaelan forced me to eat almonds.

However, I was surprised to find that the treatment for allergies in this world was just as effective as it was in my old world.

It did not take long for the royal physician to treat my allergy.

Well, of course, recovering from my condition clearly took longer than I expected.

My parents came to visit me while crying upon hearing the news about my almond poisoning, as did my siblings.

Well, I only recently found out that Yuna actually has many siblings.

There were three older brothers and two older sisters, something never mentioned before in the novel.

Yuna was the youngest child, deeply loved by her family!

Seriously, the author seemed to have a lot of issues with character details and backgrounds!

How could such a detail not be mentioned until I came into this world as Yuna Rochefort?

Just imagine, from the moment I entered this story until a few days ago, I only found out that my family was that big, warm family!

It was so fucking crazy! I really meant it!

How could a story like this become so popular!?

However, they couldn't stay long because the royal physician only allowed my personal maid, Lilia, and, of course, Kaelan to visit me.

"Strange. As far as I remember, you used to love almond cookies. Why are you allergic to them now?"

Ulricht Rochefort, the eldest brother in the Rochefort family, asked in astonishment, though his face remained worried.

I shrugged, pretending not to know the cause.

Later, the royal physician thoroughly explained to my family that allergies can develop unexpectedly and without any obvious reason.

It was even normal for someone who previously had no allergies to suddenly develop them.

Everyone asked me when I realized it, but I managed to dodge the question, saying I just knew, without knowing when.

I did not know whether they believed me or suspected something was wrong with me.

But maybe seeing my swollen face and the fact that I was still required to rest made them not suspect me.

Even my older siblings gave me so many gifts that the guest room Kaelan prepared for me was filled with them.

Marina, who had been by my side since I woke up (besides the two of them, of course), kept crying while tending to me, making me feel uncomfortable.

"If I had known you were allergic to almonds, I would have scolded His Majesty!"

That statement was probably just idle talk from a lowly servant, as no servant would dare to reprimand a tyrannical king like Kaelan.

But her words were more than enough to make me happy and feel warm, so I let her be.

Meanwhile, Kaelan told me he had ordered all the palace chefs to remove almonds from the palace kitchen to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

That was what he said.

But what I heard from others was even more shocking.

I thought only the royal palace was affected.

It turned out Kaelan had even pressured the ministers to ban all nuts from the kingdom, and now, possessing such items was even considered illegal.

Don't even ask about the ministers and nobles' reactions when they heard the new rule—except my father, of course, who immediately agreed.

They were furious because in this story, nuts are one of the kingdom's largest economic commodities.

Of course, as a tyrannical king, no one dared to speak after Kaelan beheaded one noble in the meeting room who tried to protest.

It was a bit unsettling to hear it directly from Lilia, who was present at the meeting, recounting how cold-blooded Kaelan was when he did it.

Thankfully, I wasn't there.

To be frank, I was curious to witness the stark contrast between his good looks and the ruthless expression I expected.

Okay, this step was indeed extreme; I have to admit it.

And I...

I like it!

I might be in love with Kaelan Veyrent!

I mean, who wouldn't be moved when someone else is so desperate to please you that they'd go to extreme lengths like Kaelan?

I was that kind of person.

I, you could say, am someone who really likes yandere types—people who look cute and gentle on the outside but are broken and possessive on the inside.

In short, yandere are the type who give intense affection and are extremely loyal to the people they love to the point of extremes.

And in my opinion, yandere people were very cute.

Maybe because my family in my real world never cared about me, and Kaelan, who was supposed to be just a two-dimensional character in the story, cared so much about me, making me start to fall in love with him.

My heart raced, and my chest felt warm just thinking about it.

Talking about all this made me think.

Would anyone notice my disappearance and report me as missing?

I did have many friends, but not all of them are close, and many have lost contact because of their own busy schedules.

As for coworkers?

My relationship with them was limited to being coworkers, nothing more.

Outside of work, we did not talk much.

If I wasn't mistaken, I remembered one important thing from my past.

There was someone in my office who suddenly disappeared last month, not coming to work for a month without any reason.

That was strange, considering this person always comes to work.

Well, I heard this person was also very popular and loved by everyone at work, except me, of course.

Since I separate my work life from my personal life, none of my coworkers would ever reach the level of friend or close friend.

I even heard that their family reported it to the police, and then that case was officially announced as a missing person case.

As far as I remember, that person was still not found.

As far as I recalled, they were from the marketing division, different from me, who was in the advertising division, so I did not remember their names or what they looked like.

I just remembered that they occasionally gave me various cookies and other souvenirs every time they returned from a business trip, whether it was within the city or abroad.

"Yuna! I heard you're allergic to almonds, so I bought you some snacks without nuts. Here, they're all for you. Take them."

Someone once gave them to me. And that person disappeared.

The problem was that we only met a few times.

Who were they?

They remembered my name, but why did I forget theirs?!

Oh no! Why did I forget such an important detail?!

"Lady Yuna, I've prepared a snack that I'm sure you'll like."

This afternoon, we were sitting in front of the palace garden.

I was sitting at the table there, enjoying the view that I couldn't have enjoyed if I were still in my real world.

Marina was busy with other matters, so it was just me and Lilia here.

Meanwhile, Lilia was serving afternoon tea cookies, whose aroma alone was making me hungry.

I gulped, gazing at the freshly baked, buttery, and delicious cookies.

"… And ginger tea. You like this too, don't you?"

I nod quickly. I had no idea how she knew about my food and drink preferences, but I was enjoying it.

"Yes, I really like it. Thank you."

Lilia, I could say, was obsessed with me for reasons I didn't know.

"Lady Yuna, you don't need to thank me," Lilia said as she sat down, inviting me to eat. "This might just be an afternoon tea set, but all of this can help you recover.

"Like this tea, for example. It's all herbal. There's chrysanthemum tea to reduce fever and flu symptoms, your favorite ginger tea to improve blood circulation, turmeric tea..."

I wondered when Lilia began acting like a mother.

I did not remember Lilia acting this strangely in the original story.

Even Marina was confused about how to respond, since that should have been Marina's job, not Lilia's.

"Lady Lilia?"

I startled, snapping out of my reverie.

In front of me, Lilia was gazing at me intensely.

The distance between us was so close that I felt awkward and blushed deeply because of it.

I cleared my throat, trying to hide how embarrassed I was.

"What ..."

B. Choose Lilia's tea

C. Choose neither.]

In front of me, a notification from the system appeared, startling me.

Unlike previous notifications, this time there were options like in a visual novel.

Strange.
