Chapter 204 - Chapter 196: Are You the Professor or Am I the Professor?

"..."

Outside the enclosure, there was complete silence, only the sound of birds spreading their wings as they flew across the trees.

Looking at the dead fish eyes in front of him, Hagrid, who was teaching his first class, suddenly felt a bit helpless, even though William had helped simulate the scene several times. Hagrid's face turned red, and he suddenly felt nervous, swallowing saliva while the large hand hidden under his mole-skin coat clumped together.

"...You shouldn't stop, ask them what's wrong."

William, who was asked by Hagrid to help maintain order, nudged the half-giant's waist forcefully, having no choice but to use force—he suspected that if he were slightly less forceful, this big guy with high physical resistance wouldn't feel anything at all due to his nervousness.

Under William's reminder, Hagrid seemed to come to his senses, he opened his mouth, but his gaze tentatively turned to Harry and his friends in the middle of the group.

"Uh, how should we open the textbook?"

The next moment, Hermione, who thought the quickest, quickly stood up. She reached into her backpack and pulled out a textbook wrapped tightly with colorful bindings. The thick magic tape was wrapped around the book edge over and over, yet the monster book still jumped slightly when pulled out.

"Uh, you couldn't open...alright, let me show you, watch carefully."

After another nudge from William, Hagrid gave up on his rambling, grabbed Hermione's textbook, and quickly removed the magic tape binding it. The book immediately tried to bite, but Hagrid ran his thick index finger along the spine of the book. The textbook trembled a bit and then lay quietly in his hand.

"Oh, look, how silly we were—not thinking of this method..."

Seeing this scene, Malfoy sharply spoke up, but his voice quickly died down after a moment, and the boy even covered his mouth in slight horror.

"...Draco Malfoy, interrupting in class, openly mocking the teacher, deducting ten conduct points."

William's calm voice was heard. He marked a couple lines in the registry cradled in his hand, and then he explained to the bewildered students below, "Conduct points affect your final grades; skipping classes, publicly defying teachers, not following lessons, not looking at the PPTs...no, that one's not valid, uh, anyway, failing conduct points will increase the difficulty of passing the final exam—if serious, Professor Hagrid will notify your head of house."

Then, looking at the quiet little wizards, William smirked, a hint of "justice served" flashed on his face, "Additionally, five points from Slytherin."

This was terrific, having the power to take points from another house—

Is this the joy of Snape?

"Alright, continue."

Feeling the room had cooled down, William didn't continue to steal the spotlight, instead reminding Hagrid to continue his teaching—after all, he only planned to help for one or two classes as a teaching assistant; the rest of the time Hagrid had to manage himself.

"Uh, it's not necessary to be so strict—"

But Hagrid, looking at Malfoy whose face was dark as iron (though he didn't know Malfoy's pallor was actually from fright), hesitated a bit as he spoke to William.

"...Are you the professor, or am I the professor?"

William clicked the ballpoint pen, clipped it to the registry, and raised his head to stare at Hagrid.

"Uh, of course it's you...no wait, I think it's actually me?"

Hagrid instinctively scratched his beard but soon realized he misspoke as his face visibly turned red.

"Ah...you lack experience, in class, the authority of a professor is necessary."

William sighed, Hagrid because of his own personality, really wasn't suitable for such a position, but since William solved the Moaning Myrtle murder case and successfully cleared his name, Hagrid desperately needed a job to improve himself, which might be why Dumbledore arranged this way.

So, William decided to help out this big fellow, after all, they could be considered friends.

"Oh, oh."

Listening to William's words, Hagrid had no choice but to nod repeatedly in agreement, the little wizards looked somewhat bewildered at the odd scene but didn't say anything—after all, Malfoy just got his conduct points deducted, nobody planned to risk themselves.

"...Also, the Magical Creatures class is inherently a dangerous subject, you need to ensure these kids won't get hurt by those beasts, otherwise you'll have to use something like Puffskeins as teaching materials."

"Dangerous?"

"Tsk, do you think any of these brats here can single-handedly challenge Fang?"

Upon mentioning him, the black hunting dog wrapped around his leg quickly got up, menacingly showing its teeth to the little wizards.

"Uh...probably not?"

Hagrid instinctively glanced at Young Master Malfoy's thin limbs, then decisively shook his head.

"There you go, don't relate the danger level to yourself, think about whether Harry, Ron, and their group can handle it, that's the safety standard."

"Alright, alright."

Understanding William's point, Hagrid hurriedly nodded to remember.

"Alright, continue then."

Seeing that Hagrid seemed to remember this, William nodded in satisfaction and gestured for him to continue the lesson.

"Well, you all have textbooks...next is...uh, Magical Creatures? Okay, I'll go get them."

With that, the half-giant crossed the fence, quickly disappearing into the lush leaves of the Forbidden Forest.

"..."

A child can be taught...uh, no way.

Just stressed safety, yet this fool immediately turned and left the students alone—what was Dumbledore thinking, forcing someone into being a professor without any post-sale considerations? Wait, could it be...

Is he just post-sale support?

Did I get calculated again?

Realizing he had become "after-sales service," William's vision went black, he suddenly felt an urge to report Dumbledore for child labor exploitation.

The quiet air didn't last long, as a Gryffindor girl suddenly pointed behind William and shouted; a dull and chaotic sound of footsteps loomed behind him, and William turned around only to find a gigantic eagle's beak right behind him.

"Oh, it's you?"

Ruffling the Hippogriff's feathers, William acknowledged its enthusiastic greeting—last night under the cover of darkness, he returned most of the creatures he had taken from the Forbidden Forest, including this group of Hippogriffs.

Unexpectedly, just returned home yesterday, today dragged by Hagrid as teaching material?

"Neigh, neigh—"

Though they had bird heads, their calls clearly sounded more like horses, and by this time, Hagrid had also emerged from the Forbidden Forest carrying over a dozen iron chains, each leash naturally leading to these fierce creatures too.
