Chapter 402 - Chapter 370: A Vase

Doctor Fate and Diana slowly ascended, passing through the chaotic and inverted structures, overcoming layers of objects that obstructed view, with factories emitting black smoke beneath them, and skyscrapers and busy streets resembling lamp brackets protruding from walls.

They kept moving upwards, or rather, Diana believed it was upwards.

They landed before a ruined temple high in the sky, where even the stone steps were worn, and various sculptures and murals appeared dilapidated and mottled, devoid of any solemn and majestic image.

If some weeds grew on the stone steps, it would really fit the scene better.

Diana noticed that Deathstroke had handed her his cloak, which surprised her a bit, yet she didn't say much, even though it was secretly tucked under Diana's original cloak, appearing somewhat redundant.

She knew Deathstroke wouldn't do meaningless things; he must have discovered something, and this was insurance.

This also made her slightly more alert, as former allies suddenly turning into villains wasn't uncommon for the Justice League, especially now that they were facing unpredictable Casters.

"Why did you want me to separate from them?" she asked Nate.

"You hold respect for order. I have seen it with my own eyes; you can protect it with your life," Doctor Fate slightly tilted his head, casting a glance at Diana behind him, with a golden light seemingly emanating from within his helmet, spraying from his eyes: "Whereas Naboo... doesn't care about those chaotic friends of yours."

Well, it indeed made sense; a mercenary, a hired mage, a bar owner, their lives, along with two others and a gorilla, were certainly filled with chaos and whimsy.

"I want to see Naboo immediately; this answer is important to me."

"Of course, but before that, I want to tell a story, a story about magic."

Diana did not refuse, for even a story is information, and she signaled Nate to continue.

"At the birth of humanity, there was no magic in the world, and among humans, some intelligent ones discovered a power outside the Origin Wall. They called themselves 'Prometheus,' and the fire they stole was Witchcraft Fire."

"They were the first Lords of Order, pioneers, Kings of Mages... but the power was too strong; their bodies gradually couldn't sustain it, so they contained themselves in Divine Artifacts capable of holding their souls, like the helmet atop my head. Naboo is not a god, but merely the most powerful ancient mage, yet to people of that time, formidable magic power seemed divine."

"But by the time they realized something was amiss, it was too late. Magic, initially believed to bring happiness, began to cause disaster, so the Prometheus lineage began passing down ways to guide and control magic, like magic staffs, demon patterns, magic arrays, etc. These were methods, also the order of magic."

"They wrote the first batch of magic literature, extremely shallow literature, then deceived themselves and their descendants that this is all there is to magic."

"Prometheus, over the course of history, was also redefined as Warlocks."

"But now, the essence of magic has returned, and the later generations of warlocks who used to just lightly sip the water from cups have suddenly fallen into a river, now tasting all the flavors magic has to offer."

"Incredibly powerful, and it inevitably has a price."

Nate slowly floated, finishing the history of magic to Diana and waiting quietly for her reaction.

The Female Hero naturally wouldn't think that's the full story, and the most crucial issue hasn't been answered: "The world is being destroyed, I must find a way to solve the problem."

Nate shook his head, a mysterious tone in his voice: "It's too late now; our world has been sick for a long time. Now with the Origin Wall shattered, witchcraft itself attacks, fearing the multiverse has already begun dying."

....................

The three left behind were momentarily without purpose; Su Ming was researching the differences between here and The Ancient One's Mirror Space.

Strictly speaking, this place was more like a mirror, as it's possible to see numerous people seemingly unaware of being monitored, living normally in the streets and buildings.

All the furniture and items here were also real and could be readily picked up and used.

At this moment, Albella was doing just that, casually picking up an ancient-looking vase as an ashtray, flicking ash into it.

"This place feels off," Bo Bo finally took out his magnifying glass, carefully examining the surroundings: "I still prefer places with natural laws."

"Ha, strictly speaking, everything around here is the essence of order, you see now, that's anti-natural."

Albella seized every opportunity to sneer at order; she just disliked these hypocritical things.

Since the descent of the Omega Four Gods, everyone now knew that humanity's creators actually represented the chaos of entropy, that was the essence of humanity, and order was merely chains limiting humanity.

Humans can bear limited order to move forward, but omnipresent order will only create a dystopia or mechanized future.

In this regard, Su Ming and Albella shared similar views. If every action were arranged by order, then humanity itself wouldn't need to exist.

The foundation of human society lies in the differences between people; if everyone were regulated by order to become identical, it might increase productivity, but the human spirit would die.

"Wait, what's that you're holding?"

Bo Bo looked at Albella, seemingly intending to say something, but his gaze suddenly focused on the vase in Albella's hand.

"Hm? Something picked up casually, this thing has some magic energy. I'm planning to take it as a souvenir."

She spoke of the casual theft very breezily.

Bo Bo didn't have the time to correct her behavior; instead, he wanted to reach out and take the vase for examination.

But his height imposed a disadvantage; the more he wanted it, the more Albella refused to give it to him, finding amusement in teasing him.

"Let me take a look." The gorilla jumped up, clinging onto Albella's pant leg, trying to climb up.

"Haha, you can't reach it, beg me?" The female mage mischievously heightened the vase with one hand, proudly flaunting her height.

Although her bust wasn't as large as Diana's, she equally possessed an enviable model figure, standing at an impressive 1.78 meters tall.

"Don't mess around; there's someone struggling on the vase." Bo Bo looked at her disapprovingly, his eyes seemingly questioning, 'How old are you?'

"Is there someone?"

Albella placed the vase before her eyes, indeed discovering that where one assumed was decorative patterns, abstract humanoid figures continuously moved, exhibiting knocking gestures as if attempting to escape from the pottery.

He kept knocking on the vase's outer wall, but no sound emerged.

Her smile vanished, eyes turned serious.

Doctor Fate imprisoning a living person in an object is certainly not an act of justice...
