Chapter 30 - Chapter 11: Inside the Communications Room

Barbara shook her head, struggling to sit up. She was Gordon's daughter and wouldn't admit defeat just like that. She had to protect her friends.

"Don't bully the men! If there's anything, come at me!"

Her voice made the figure walking towards the wall pause for a moment, as if they had heard something disgusting, constantly rubbing their arms as if hair was growing all over their body and needed to be pressed down.

This neurotic behavior made the male officers cry even harder, with some even fainting from fright.

Unlike Barbara, whose vision was blurred from the shock, they, who had been burying their heads in pain in the corner from the beginning, clearly saw the black and yellow armor, knowing what identity it represented—

The world's notorious mercenary, a super assassin with a 100% mission success rate—Deathstroke!

Deathstroke wasn't often active in Gotham, because it wasn't the center of the world, just a city on the East Coast of North America, after all. Deathstroke's clients were spread throughout the world.

But this didn't prevent the people of Gotham from remembering Deathstroke, because she was highly skilled and exceptionally intelligent, even Batwoman couldn't catch her.

These officers, who were responsible for administrative work, had never been on the field, only hearing colleagues talk about Deathstroke working in Gotham a few times, leaving a pile of bodies wherever she went, a river of blood. Not just the mission targets, but their subordinates and families, even the target's pet dogs were executed...

If Cindy knew she had such a reputation in Gotham, she would definitely laugh until she collapsed. She actually didn't want to kill too many people when dealing with targets.

For example, after killing a gang leader, she could completely leave the underlings alive. Maybe among them, someone could inherit the territory and business, and then her client would hire Deathstroke again to solve the problem, making money multiple times, right?

Just like harvesting vegetables, the value of underlings is different from the boss. Cindy isn't afraid of troublesome tasks that make money and hopes for more of such troubles.

At this moment, Cindy seemed to have discovered a new continent. She looked Barbara up and down, nodding with satisfaction.

"Looks like I won the bet, there really is a 'Gordon' here."

Su Ming was annoyed by these weeping men. He had never seen so many men gathered together sobbing, finding it disgusting, so he wanted to knock them out the moment he entered, maybe even make them faint for ten days or half a month.

As a result, a woman in the room told him not to bully the men and to come at her instead, giving him goosebumps all over.

He turned his head to look at the woman who had just spoken, guessing she should be the target the men in black were trying to capture.

To call her a woman didn't seem right; calling her a girl was more appropriate. She looked around seventeen or eighteen, much younger than Cindy, with a very demure appearance.

She wore nerdy square glasses and had her hair in two braids, dressed in a red sweater with loose threads, underneath which was a checkered shirt with a white base and pink stripes, looking very old-fashioned.

However, her skin was very fair, which was the advantage of being a homebody, and her features could be considered pretty, though she had no makeup at all.

He noticed her wheelchair, and combined with Cindy saying she had won the bet, Su Ming realized the girl's identity.

"Barbara Gordon?"

Although it was phrased as a question, in reality, Su Ming was certain. Barbara was a character who appeared in almost every Bat issue, and although she looked somewhat different in reality than in the comics, her unique temperament and characteristics still exposed her.

"Who are you?" Barbara felt relieved that the person had given up bullying the male officers, but she was still completely unsure about what would happen to her future.

Su Ming looked around; the dust from the explosion in the room hadn't settled yet, and he felt like the Barbara of this world seemed a bit naive.

"Then put on your glasses, and take a look at who I am."

Barbara rubbed her eyes, wiped the dust off her glasses, and looked closely.

"!!!"

As the daughter of the director, she naturally knew something about the criminals Gordon often mentioned.

Among those, there were a few individuals Gordon specifically warned her about, extremely dangerous criminals. If Barbara saw any of them, she should hurry to the police station to hide.

These included the Jester, Leixiao Gu, the Mad Hatter, and others, mostly lunatics or cold-blooded assassins, and of course, among the world's most dangerous mercenaries, Deathstroke.

Cindy had come to Gotham a few times before to do business and then left, and when the police arrived, the corpses were already cold. The crime scenes were completely contaminated with blood, leaving no evidence. Batwoman had crossed paths with her but was knocked unconscious by her, completely no match.

When Briss was finally ready, planning to capture Cindy the next time she committed a crime, she discovered Cindy had changed her fighting style again and had succeeded in her target.

Time and again, Deathstroke felt like a fleeting shadow. If it weren't for the Jester always appearing in Briss's dreams, then Deathstroke would be a frequent visitor in her nightmares.

No match in fights, and unable to apprehend, Deathstroke always instilled fear, just like the Bat in her own heart.

These were the words Bat Heroine told Gordon, and Gordon also mentioned it to Barbara. She still remembered Gordon saying:

"Deathstroke is also a lunatic, but a calm one. She never feels anything wrong with killing; living beings will die, and she just accelerates the process, seeing herself as a mover of nature."
