Chapter 4 - Chapter 3 — The Night She Stopped Crying

The city lights blurred outside Lana's apartment window, streaking across the glass like tears she refused to shed anymore.

Her phone still sat silent on the nightstand — no calls, no texts. Just memories echoing back in her mind.

Two years of love. Two years of believing that Mick Hayes was her forever.

Now, forever was gone.

Lana pressed her trembling fingers against her chest, whispering to herself,

> "No more crying, Lana. No more."

She'd cried until her eyes burned. She'd replayed every moment — every smile, every I love you — until her heart felt numb. And now, all that remained was emptiness.

Her best friend's voice broke through that silence — Lily on the phone, soft and worried.

> "Lana, please. Come out with me tomorrow. You can't just stay locked up like this."

Lana tried to sound normal.

> "I'm fine, Lil. I've got work tomorrow anyway."

> "You're not fine," Lily sighed. "He cheated, babe. That doesn't make you any less. It just means he's trash."

Lana smiled weakly at that — Lily always knew how to make her smile even through heartbreak.

After hanging up, Lana stared at the ceiling, her thoughts spiraling back to the moment she found out. Mick's arms around Chloe. His lips — the same ones that once said I love you — on someone else.

That memory burned.

And something inside her shifted.

She whispered into the darkness,

> "You took my love like it was nothing, Mick. But I'll make sure you never forget what losing it feels like."

The next morning, Lana put on her uniform, tied her hair neatly, and went to her part-time job at the café — pretending life was normal.

Until she saw her.

The girl Mick chose over her — Chloe, laughing with her friends, flipping her perfect hair like she had no idea what she'd done.

Lana's jaw tightened.

Her grip on the tray trembled slightly before she forced a smile.

> "Perfect," she muttered under her breath.

"If fate's giving me a second chance to meet you, Chloe… I'll use it well."

That night, when she got home, Lana called Lily again. Her voice was calm now — too calm.

> "Lily, come over. I have an idea."

Lily arrived half an hour later, confused but curious.

> "You look… different," Lily said slowly.

Lana smirked — the same girl who cried last night was gone.

> "Because I've decided something."

> "What?"

Lana's lips curved into a sharp, cold smile.

> "If Mick and Chloe thought breaking me was fun… let's see how they handle their own medicine."
