Chapter 412 - Chapter 410: Wolf Poison Potion

Vampire is part of the third-year Defense Against the Dark Arts Class, Kael also studied it last year.

Although Lockhart was unreliable, at least the contents of his book weren't false.

Besides "Lockhart's Smile," an unreplicable weapon of mass destruction, there were quite a few legitimate methods to deal with those Dark Creatures.

"Garlic emits a smell that vampires hate the most, just like us smelling compost in the greenhouse."

On the way to the library, Kael told Neville, "You can hang it around your neck, or smear its juice on your body."

"Of course, eating it is fine too. If you eat enough and become like Quirrell, exuding a garlic scent everywhere you go, even if you offered your neck to a vampire, they wouldn't give it a second glance."

"I see..." Neville said in realization, "I recall Professor Lupin saying the same thing."

"But this only applies to regular situations," Kael continued: "If you encounter a vampire that has been hungry for a long time, or one with a peculiar taste, even turning yourself into garlic won't help."

...

Neville nodded repeatedly, and with Kael's help, he quickly finished his Defense Against the Dark Arts homework.

He raised his head, hesitated for a long time, then suddenly whispered, "Thanks..."

"What?" Kael was busy writing his Divination Class homework and did not hear clearly.

"I said, thank you..." Neville repeated, "Ever since I lost the password, no one has wanted to talk to me for a long time.

"Apart from Hermione, you're the second one."

"That's because you haven't found the right method," Kael looked up, "If you tell Fred and George... 'Your pranks are meaningless,' they'll keep talking to you all day, or even longer."

Or you can find Harry and tell him you saw a pretty girl in Ravenclaw, he'd be willing to talk about her for hours."

"Ah?" Neville blinked. "Is it that simple? But I noticed Harry doesn't seem to like hanging out with me; he keeps finding various reasons to try and part ways with me."

"Maybe he just has other things to do." Kael put down his quill and put away the completed homework.

Checking the time, it was less than ten minutes until the hour Snape instructed.

"Just in time."

Kael stood up and explained to Neville's puzzled eyes, "The second half of the detention, head to the underground classroom. Want to join? You've got nothing to do, and I don't think Professor Snape would mind if I brought someone along."

"No, no." Neville shook his head quickly, clumsily grabbing his quill and nearly knocking over the ink bottle.

"I've got a lot of homework to do, you go ahead."

"That's a pity." Kael didn't say more, packed up his things, and walked out of the library.

Sitting there, Neville wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.

After leaving the library, Kael crossed the entrance hall and headed toward the underground classroom.

Due to the Hogsmeade visit day, most students were not at the school, and even the normally bustling entrance hall was empty, let alone the underground classroom.

Along the way, all Kael could hear was his own footsteps.

This time, he needed to go to the third classroom in the middle of the corridor.

When Kael pushed open the door, Snape was already there, looking at Kael expressionlessly, "Why are you so late."

"There's still two minutes to an hour left, Professor," Kael replied.

"Thank you for the reminder, but I believe I can keep track of time myself," Snape said.

"Sorry, Professor, I intended to come earlier." Kael continued, "But I didn't want to interrupt you by arriving too soon..."

"How considerate of you," Snape drawled, "Should I thank you for that?"

"No need, it's as it should be." Kael turned away, "Of course, if you insist on giving me a pint of Felix Felicis in gratitude, I wouldn't refuse."

Felix Felicis?

Pint?

Snape's eye twitched slightly; he had never heard of anyone measuring Felix Felicis by the pint...

Did he think Felix Felicis was pumpkin juice?

"Looks like I should have Madam Pomfrey check your brain," Snape pointed with a finger, "But that's for later, for now clean the cauldron and bring it over."

Following Snape's pointed direction, Kael saw a cauldron that was larger than normal, filled with a pungent brown potion.

"Scourgify." Kael took out his wand.

The inside potion was swept away, and the cauldron immediately became clean.

Kael turned back, originally thinking Snape wouldn't allow that and would insist on hand cleaning... but surprisingly, Snape said nothing.

"What are you dawdling for, quickly bring the cauldron over."

"Oh, alright."

It was naturally beneficial to take the easy route, Kael picked up the cauldron and placed it in front of Snape.

"Professor, can I leave now?"

"Of course... not." Snape sneered, "You don't think I called you here just to clean a cauldron, right? My detention isn't that easy."

He casually pointed with his wand and piled a heap of potion materials onto the table in front of Kael.

"Handle these well, I'll be using them shortly."

Snape's mouth curled into a cold smile, sinisterly looking at Kael, "Remember well, I'll only say it once... If you make a mistake anywhere, and don't handle these correctly, I won't remind you again.

But in such a case, you might find yourselves short a professor afterwards."

"Listen up...

Grind the Lionfish Bone into a fine powder, slice the Ginger Root, three drops of Nine-Banded Armadillo Gallbladder Juice, three drops of Mandrake Juice, only the top part of the Wolf Poison Grass leaves, and they mustn't be damaged in the slightest..."

Snape spoke very quickly, seemingly afraid Kael might actually remember.

Luckily, Kael had a good memory and retained everything he said.

Afterwards, he silently processed the materials.

Once he ground the Lionfish Bone into fine powder and prepared to slice the Ginger Root, Snape spoke again.

"Now, put the Lionfish Bone Powder into the cauldron..."

Kael nodded, pouring all the powder on a dish into the cauldron.

Soon, the potion in the cauldron turned a nice orange color.

"Professor, may I ask what magic potion this is?"

"Oh?" Snape raised an eyebrow, "Our top student can't recognize this?"

"At least it's definitely not what we're supposed to learn," Kael said, "Not until seventh year... "

"So in your view, what's not in the textbook isn't important, right?" Snape scoffed:

"If you had read more books on magic potions, you would know that the potion brewed from Lionfish Bone Powder with Ginger Root and Nine-Banded Armadillo Gallbladder Juice keeps the mind clear, and Mandrake Juice with Wolf Poison Grass suppresses the effects of dangerous transformations...

"Hearing this, can't you figure it out?"

Kael pondered for a moment and tentatively asked, "Wolfsbane Potion?"

It keeps the mind clear and is related to dangerous transformations, it could only be that.

"Not completely stupid," Snape said, meaningfully.
