In the afternoon, Kael took a trip to Hagrid's cabin.
"Kael, what brings you here."
Inside the cabin, Hagrid enthusiastically handed him a plate of rock skin cakes, saying, "Thank you for the gifts, I really like them."
The models of fire dragons were placed on the cabin's only table, and Hagrid, seemingly worried they might fall off, had installed a small fence around the table.
He was evidently quite attentive.
Kael didn't take the plate of rock skin cake, shaking his head, "Hagrid, I can't eat anything right now."
"Makes sense, your stomach is probably stuffed with turkey and sausages, right?" Hagrid didn't mind, and took a bite of a rock skin cake himself. "Is there something you want to ask me?
Just so you know, I'm not going to take you to the Forbidden Forest."
"I'm not going to the Forbidden Forest," Kael said. "I'm here to ask if you know a wizard with the surname Prince."
"Prince? I remember something about this surname..."
At this point, Hagrid paused suddenly and patted his head. "Sorry Kael, I've probably caught a cold these days, my mind's been a bit foggy, and I can't remember many things.
Oh, right… Poppy told me to find her after the banquet ended."
Hagrid stood up suddenly, hurriedly saying, "Sorry Kael, I need to go to the hospital wing now.
If I remember anything, I'll write to you."
"Alright." Kael sighed in disappointment and left the cabin with Hagrid.
It seems I'll have to wait until Chris is busy before writing to ask him.
Besides Hagrid, Kael didn't plan on asking any other professors about it.
Professor McGonagall and the others are too tight-lipped, if that "Prince" is really related to Snape, they definitely wouldn't say it even if they knew.
...
Returning to the castle from the cabin, with nothing to do, Kael went back to the library to continue reading the hardcover book he borrowed in the morning.
This was a biography, telling the legendary life of a duel master.
The master was a true master, according to the book, he had never lost a duel since he first started, and has set a record of 200 consecutive wins, winning the duel championship eleven times.
This record has yet to be broken, even when Professor Flitwick was young, he managed just 115 consecutive wins at most.
However, the master's ability to write biographies wasn't so impressive. The magical theories which were originally profound and complex, needing step-by-step analysis and understanding, were brushed over with very brief statements.
Like solving math problems, usually, after writing a "solution", at least three to five formulas are needed to derive an answer.
But this master was different, he didn't even write the solution, just threw the answer out.
You can only say it's useful, but not much.
Additionally… although he also mentioned many small tips about casting charms in a teaching tone, his expressions were very vague.
"Facing a moving enemy, when casting a charm, the wrist should subtly rotate at the right moment."
"To make the charm's attack range farther, the wand should be slightly raised, but not too high, or it will miss, just go with the feel."
"If you feel lost during a duel, ask your wand, it will tell you what to do next."
...
What's the right moment...
Going with the feel, what does that mean...
These words made Kael feel bewildered, but he wasn't willing to give up on the content, so he could only try his best to grasp what the master was trying to convey, and then practice repeatedly in the Room of Requirement.
This was also the most time-consuming, sometimes due to an ambiguous statement, Kael would need to spend an entire day, or even longer, in the Room of Requirement.
A book not very thick, but it wasn't until the holiday was nearly over that he finished reading it once.
The day before school started, Kael went to the library to return the book.
Madam Pince took the book, checked it as usual, confirmed there were no issues, and then put it away.
As Kael was about to go to a shelf nearby to find another book, he suddenly heard a cold voice behind him.
"I suggest you don't borrow this type of biography anymore."
"What?" Kael turned around in confusion.
Madam Pince was sitting on a chair, expressionless, flipping through the hardcover book, "The content in this book isn't complicated, but you spent a whole two weeks reading it, evidently it's not suitable for you."
Kael was somewhat surprised; it was his first time seeing Madam Pince proactively speak to a young wizard, and more so on matters outside her work scope.
Coming back to senses, Kael asked quickly, "Are you saying my foundation is too poor?"
"No, your foundational magic knowledge is very good, from your borrowing record, you've even surpassed many third-year students."
Madam Pince raised her eyes slightly, "But to understand the biography of a legendary wizard, you need experience and insight."
Kael smacked his lips, it was true, he couldn't refute it.
He was only in first year, besides with Fantastic Beasts, he really didn't have much experience in other aspects.
"If you do want to learn something useful, don't waste your time on such biographies."
Madam Pince extended her hand, pointing to a nearby shelf, "I suggest you take a look over there."
Kael almost didn't hesitate, as soon as Madam Pince finished speaking, he walked toward the direction of the shelf.
Madam Pince had spoken to this extent, he should at least take a look.
Besides, he hadn't really decided on what book to borrow this time, maybe there's something in there that interests him.
...
The fact proves, listening to advice feeds you well.
Five minutes later, Kael returned with a thick book in his arms.
"Charm Transformation: Tracing the Source"
Madam Pince's expression changed slightly but quickly returned to normal.
After processing the borrowing slip, Kael didn't choose to stay in the library, but first took the book back to the dormitory, planning to read it later on.
Today is the last day of the holiday, and he still has some tasks to do.
Kael first went to the Room of Requirement, as soon as he entered, a group of furry little creatures surrounded him.
Five Moonstruck Beasts stared at Kael with their big round eyes, looking at him neatly.
Kael patted each of their heads and asked, "It's daytime now, why aren't you sleeping."
One of the Moonstruck Beasts tilted its head and called out, "Goo goo."
"Afraid someone might come over, so you're too scared to sleep?" Kael chuckled, "Don't worry, besides me, there won't be anyone else coming."
After hearing Kael say this, the Moonstruck Beasts went back to the cave built for them in the Room of Requirement.
