Kak: "..."
Keihei: "..."
The cards were played, and neither the spectators nor the ones involved said a word for a moment.
One was reflecting on what kind of game they had just witnessed, while the other was pondering what kind of game they had just played.
The Ojama Trio is typically considered trash cards that might be thrown into a dry well, often ignored by most duelists.
Yet, these very cards unexpectedly taught Kak, a seasoned professor, a lesson, showing him the darkness within dueling.
Neither the Ojama Trio nor the Fusion Ojama King had any attack power, being only somewhat effective in specific scenarios that reversed attack and defense.
However, facing a deck with virtually zero attack power instilled a deep sense of powerlessness he had never experienced before.
He had never played such a frustrating game in his life.
Kak looked at Yugen with a complex expression, then turned a peculiar glance at Keihei nearby.
When the duel started, he had also cast a strange look at Keihei. At that time, his gaze was full of disdain, implying "Is Kaiba Company sending me such a weakling to look down on me?"
But after a brief game, his gaze turned from contempt to resentment, as if saying, "We have no past conflict but you send such a weapon that's akin to kicking a habit—bit excessive, isn't it?"...
Keihei was somewhat surprised by this too. He coughed and said, "Well, in any case, you lost. As agreed, tell us. What's the issue between us and the International Illusion Association? Why attack our server maliciously?"
Only then did Kak stand up, tidying his mood to discuss actual matters.
"It's actually a misunderstanding," he said.
"Oh?" Keihei raised an eyebrow, "What misunderstanding?"
Kak shook his head.
"I'm just a pawn, and appearing with a virtual image online - even if I said something, you'd find it hard to believe. Lord Pegasus had instructed earlier.
Tonight at seven, he will be awaiting you at the foundation headquarters. He will personally explain everything then."
The foundation was a Duel Monsters-related foundation Pegasus created, independent from his foster father Beckas' International Illusion Association.
"Pegasus Nightwalker...?" Keihei frowned slightly.
Yugen understood what he was thinking.
Kaiba Company and Pegasus Nightwalker had somewhat of a grudge.
Yugen had learned through researching historical events that he was in a dimension resembling a fusion of animation and manga worldviews. Major events here leaned toward the animated perspective, but Pegasus Nightwalker was a character appearing in the manga, yet existed here too.
In the original manga, Pegasus Nightwalker occupied Kaiba Company's headquarters while Kaiba was in the United States, seizing Kaiba Company's duel server and challenged Yuugi.
During this, Kaiba returned from the U.S. but lost to Nightwalker in their duel due to Nightwalker's possession of a Divine Hand.
However, his motive in the manga was to avenge his foster father Beckas' death at Duel Kingdom by defeating Muto Yuugi. But, in the dimension Yugen was in, Beckas was still alive, so history differed slightly.
Nonetheless, even in this dimension, Nightwalker who wielded the Three Evil Gods succumbed to the card's influence; his mind was corrupted and manipulated by the Evil God to challenge Yuugi wielding the Three Phantom Gods.
He faced off against President Kaiba during this, and similarly in the original, Nightwalker empowered by the Evil God won. For President Kaiba, this failure was likely unforgettable.
Later, Yuugi confronted and broke the Evil God's power, freeing Pegasus Nightwalker from its influence and restoring his normal state.
After this turmoil, both Beckas and Pegasus Nightwalker realized the Three Evil Gods were overwhelmingly powerful and evil, too dangerous for anyone to control, so the Evil God Cards were said to be destroyed thereafter.
That was many years ago.
It's imagineable, after such a storm, Seto Kaiba and Pegasus Nightwalker had some lingering conflicts.
"Lord Pegasus guarantees that the invasion of your company is unrelated to us. In this hacker intrusion incident, the International Illusion Association was also a victim."
Kak stated solemnly.
"Please be sure to come for face-to-face discussions tonight."
"Alright, I understand." Keihei nodded, "I'll also inform my brother."
"Thank you. I'll take my leave for now... oh, by the way, the 'Link System' is indeed a great invention. We will restore the invaded areas in the 'Link System', and all data will be cleared."
"Okay." Keihei nodded.
With that, Professor Card Kak Dixon logged out after bidding farewell to the two. But before leaving, he looked at Yugen one last time.
He opened his mouth as if wanting to say something but, with a complex expression, held back for a while ultimately not speaking.
In the end, he shook his head, saying nothing, and his form vanished into a stream of data.
Seeing his state, he might have a mental shadow seeing the Ojama Trio for a while.
...
...
Yugen and Keihei also logged out of the Link System.
After removing the equipment, Keihei told Yugen to wait a moment and hurriedly went off to give President Kaiba a call, informing him of what had just transpired.
The President was currently abroad for business.
"Pegasus Nightwalker...?"
Kaiba squinted his eyes slightly upon receiving the call, humming softly.
Like Keihei, he's recalling some past less pleasant memories.
"Well, brother?"
"Hm, interesting. Since they've issued such an invitation, there's naturally no reason not to go." Kaiba laughed coldly.
"Got it. Then I'll go see tonight."
Keihei thought for a moment and smiled.
"By the way, brother, this time was really coincidental. Do you recall Fujiki Yugen, a first-year student at Duel Academy?"
"I remember." Kaiba said indifferently.
"When this happened, I was just demonstrating the Link System to him, and thanks to him things worked out. He temporarily represented our company and defeated a Professor Card under Pegasus Nightwalker."
"Hm." Kaiba said, "Hah, Nightwalker's lackeys have some ability, but their ceiling is just that.
If one can't handle such an opponent, there's nothing worth noting about them."
"Haha, I thought the same way, which is why I confidently entrusted him with the duel. However..."
Keihei paused, as if considering his words.
"Observing his duel, how should I say it... there's a subtle feeling... "
"What, you think it's impressive?"
Keihei scratched his head.
"It's not about being impressive, he's truly quite unique... "
Keihei found it genuinely hard to articulate that feeling in words.
"...but I have a recording. If you're interested, you can watch it. I think his dueling is pretty interesting."
Keihei said, recounting how the expression Kak Dixon had during the game resembled that of eating Sho, the thought was amusing, making him laugh again.
"Well, whatever the case, at least I found it quite entertaining..."
Impressive or not, he didn't know, but as an audience member, it was quite a thrill.
"Oh?"
Speaking of duels naturally piqued Kaiba's interest.
"Sure, send it over for me to see."
