It's truly the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, where everything can be resolved with a duel.
However, just when Yugen thought the next part would lead to the familiar and beloved card battle scene, Keihei interrupted with a disapproving look, "No."
Man: "?"
Wait, why aren't you playing by the rules?
Isn't the Kaiba Family always focused on dueling, never refusing a challenge?
"First of all, I already know who you are."
Keihei said calmly, hands in his pockets.
"Kak Dixon, right? Under the International Illusion Association... no, to be precise, one of the elites of Pegasus Nightwalker's 'Card Professor Team', right?"
Pegasus Nightwalker is introduced in the DM side stories as Beckas's adopted son, and the holder of the cards "Three Evil Gods" which are opposites to the "Three Phantom Gods" in the original work.
Under Nightwalker, there's an entire team of elite card professors, all of whom were top duelists of their time. Back then, Muto Yuugi fought through this entire elite team before finally reaching Nightwalker.
So, if we follow the "fought the Duel King" logic like the Maze Brothers, then this entire team defeated by Yuugi should also be considered "legendary duelists"...
The man was shocked, "How did you know!?"
"Hey, hey, are you guys underestimating the capabilities of Kaiba Company?" Keihei squinted, "What makes you think such a simple disguise could fool us?"
"Tsk, got caught? Those technicians are really unreliable..."
After speaking, a stream of data flowed over the man's body, the virtual image was dispelled, and the tough guy in black clothes and sunglasses instantly transformed into a slightly sleazy-looking short man with glasses.
"That's right, my name is Kak Dixon, an elite under Lord Pegasus from the Card Professor Team."
Keihei frowned, "Kaiba Company and International Illusion Association resolved their differences years ago and have maintained a stable cooperative relationship. Why would you hack into our system?"
"Heh heh, want to know why?"
Kak adjusted his glasses and sneered.
"If you want to know, then..."
"No need, I can just go directly to the International Illusion Association and ask Beckas." Keihei said, raising his hand, "I'll just kick you out first."
Kak: "!"
Nani? Still refusing to duel?
Why isn't this following the usual pattern?
Of course, if it were President Kaiba here, an 80% chance he wouldn't refuse a duel challenge. But Keihei isn't Kaiba... or rather, his usual role is to be a hostage to force the President into dueling.
As everyone knows, the Seven Thousand-Year Divine Artifacts in DM's main story actually number eight, with Yuugi's grandfather and Kaiba's brother being called the Eighth Artifact "Thousand-Year Hostage," whose effect is to greatly advance the plot.
"How about," Yugen interrupted, "I give it a try?"
Keihei turned and glanced at him.
Actually, there's no loss in just dueling; if they win, it would save a lot of trouble by having the opponent confess. But Keihei isn't very confident in his own dueling skills.
"Would it be okay?" Keihei asked.
"Of course, it's a rare chance to use the Link System, and I haven't tried the duel experience here yet." Yugen was eager to try.
"... I understand."
Keihei nodded and smiled.
"I'll leave it to you, seems like I owe you one again."
"No problem at all."
Yugen stepped forward.
"I'll be your opponent."
Only then did Kak breathe a sigh of relief.
Phew, finally, there will be a duel...
"Alright." Kak sneered, looking him up and down, "Are you a dueling hitman under Kaiba Company?"
"No," Yugen said seriously, "just an ordinary first-year student at Duel Academy."
Kak: "?"
What the heck? A first-year student?
He looked at Keihei with some suspicion, as if asking, are you sure?
Though he knew Duel Academy recruited elite students, they were still just students. And he, Kak Dixon, was a well-known expert who had even faced the Duel King in the past. Are they not being a bit disrespectful here?
"Then let's get it over quickly, senpai."
Yugen was already in position.
"Tch, alright then... as you wish."
Kak squinted his eyes.
"I'll let you see how cruel the real world of dueling can be. Come on."
"Duel!" x2
[Yugen, LP 4000]
[Kak, LP 4000]
"I'm going first, draw!" Kak said.
Kak Dixon was the original user of the Mecha Deck in the works, with the entire Mecha Deck series first appearing in his hands.
"Let me show you the full force suppression of 'Mecha'!
The effect of 'Mecha Fortress' in hand allows you to discard mechanical race monsters from your hand with a total level of at least eight to Special Summon Fortress from your hand or Graveyard!"
He revealed the two cards in his hand, then promptly discarded one to the Graveyard.
"I discard the level eight 'Mecha Team - Cannon' to Special Summon 'Mecha Team - Fortress'!"
The heavy fortress thudded onto the field, causing the ground to quake violently.
"Then I set a card facedown and end my turn."
With his arms crossed, Kak displayed a confident smirk befitting someone in power.
"Alright, then, this first-year Duel Academy student, show me the results of your studies."
"Sure, I'll do my best not to disappoint, senpai." Yugen smiled, "My turn, draw.
First, I'll activate the speed attack magic 'Handwriting Destruction', both players send two cards from their hands to the Graveyard, then draw two cards from their decks."
Kak picked two cards to send to the Graveyard, and so did Yugen. But after his operation, his Graveyard soon radiated with golden light.
"I just sent the Magic Card 'Disrupting Magic' to the Graveyard. When it's sent to the Graveyard from the hand or field, you can add one 'Ojama Green', 'Ojama Yellow', and 'Ojama Black' from your deck to your hand.
Therefore, I'll add the Ojama trio to my hand."
"Ojama?"
Kak was stunned.
He was certainly aware of this mediocre deck, but in the GX anime world, Ojamas were clearly fillers put into card boxes. Even Chazz was surprised when he saw someone else use Ojamas, exclaiming, "Aside from me, who else would use these miscellaneous monsters?"
As a card professor, Kak was naturally in contact with elite duelist circles, he knew the Ojama deck existed, yet seeing someone genuinely use it in combat was a first.
Kak's eyebrows furrowed tighter, displeased, he glanced at Keihei.
It was as though he was asking, are you just throwing any random amateur to duel me? Is this some sort of disrespect to me?
"Next, I'll activate the Magic Card 'Thug Agent'." Yugen said, "If I hold one or more cards in my hand, I can draw two cards from my deck but must then return three cards from my hand to the top of my deck." (Original Card)
He drew from his deck, then promptly placed the Ojama trio back on top of his deck.
"Then, I'll activate the Magic Card 'Demon's Dressing Room'!" Yugen continued, "By paying 800 life points, I reveal the top four cards of my deck and Special Summon all level three or lower ordinary monsters found, returning the remaining cards to the deck and shuffling!"
[Yugen, LP 4000→LP 3200]
"The three cards on top of my deck were just returned in order, so naturally, they are all ordinary monsters."
Yugen displayed three monsters.
"I Special Summon the Ojama trio!"
[Ojama Yellow, Defense Power 1000]
[Ojama Green, Defense Power 1000]
[Ojama Black, Defense Power 1000]
"Summoning three monsters all at once." Kak frowned, "A creative combo, I'll admit. But it's still just three miscellaneous monsters; no matter how many, so what?"
For some reason, witnessing these three Ojama nuisances felt oddly irksome, as if their mere presence was a form of invisible taunt...
"Don't rush, even miscellaneous monsters have their uses."
Yugen laughed slightly, calmly revealing another card from his hand.
"I activate the Magic Card 'Disrupting Triangle Hurricane'!
If 'Ojama Green', 'Ojama Yellow', and 'Ojama Black' are on the field, destroy all cards on the opponent's field!"
At this, Kak's expression changed.
Are these nuisances really capable of such things?
