"With Orichalcos activated, you have no chance left. Let's turn this duel into a sacrificial ceremony for the revival of the Evil God, along with your beloved Elf!"
Thief Keith waved his large hand and slapped a Magic Card into the Duel Disc.
"First is the Magic Card - Earth Split! This card can destroy the monster with the lowest Attack Power on the opponent's field!"
The green Magic Card unfurled with a rustle on Keith's field. The ground in front of Yugen began to tremble violently, splitting open a chasm-like rift as though from an earthquake.
"You only have one 'Silent Magician' on your field." Keith sneered, "What an unfortunate magician girl."
"True Silent Magician, activate the effect." Yugen said, "Once per turn, the activation of a Magic Card can be negated. The destruction of 'Earth Split' is negated!"
White light blossomed around the Silent Magician, and the Earth Split card was blown into the air by a transparent magic storm, shattering into powder with a pop. The shattered ground on the field returned to its original state.
"Tch, there's actually such an ability."
Thief Keith grunted in discontent.
"Then I'll proceed with activating the effect of 'Stealth Sniper'!" Thief Keith said, "Discard a card from my hand and roll a die.
If a number other than 1 and 6 appears, destroy a card on the field!"
Dice...
Yugen recalled that this guy seemed to have a penchant for dice games. Including his sleight of hand trick "Sleeve Concealment Card," this person was a born gambler.
Yet obviously, he never won against City Blade in those years.
Stealth Sniper was also a powerful lower-level card frequently used in the early Yu-Gi-Oh! games. As long as the die roll was anything other than 1 or 6, it could destroy a card, giving it a two-thirds probability of success, provided one wasn't too unlucky.
"The 'Silent Magician' on the front is quite annoying, though..."
Thief Keith squinted his eyes, shifting his gaze back and forth between the Magician and the cover card in Yugen's backfield.
"Silent Magician has an effect that increases Attack Power based on the hand size. The fact you're willing to decrease her Attack Power to cover that card means you think it has that much value as a trap.
I think it's likely a powerful trap akin to 'Divine Protective Shield - Reflective Mirror Force' that can reverse the situation in one blow..."
Yugen: "..."
"But Kida!" Thief Keith shouted, "I'll make you realize, such superficial traps won't work on me! Stealth Sniper's effect, Wheel of Destiny!"
Although its effect mentioned dice, judging by the appearance of 'Stealth Sniper,' it was clearly using the revolver's cylinder to substitute the die. The dark gunman raised his pistol, which had a rotating cylinder at the back. The needle spun rapidly, slowing down gradually until it stopped at the number "4."
"The number on the wheel is 4!" Keith laughed heartily, "Thus, I destroy your backfield's cover card!"
Hand over your trap to me!
The sniper's bullet was chambered, and with a pop, a shot was fired. The backfield cover card was penetrated and shattered.
But there was only a momentary effect when the card was destroyed. Keith caught a glimpse of the card's image; it wasn't the Reflective Mirror Force, and likely wasn't a common trap, at least not one he'd seen before.
"This makes your backfield a blank slate." Thief Keith said, "Then, activating the Magic Card 'Demon Sanctuary' from my hand, Special Summoning a 'Metal Demon Derivative' to my field!"
[Metal Demon Derivative, Attack Power 0]
"Next, activating the Continuous Magic 'Netherworld's Treasure Scroll.' Now, whenever I successfully perform an Upper-level Summon using two or more monsters as sacrifices, I can draw two cards from the deck!"
"Subsequently, offering 'Metal Demon Derivative' and 'Stealth Sniper' as sacrifices for an Upper-level Summon!
Let the roar of metal bring eternal nightmares to the enemy! Level seven—
—Revolver Pistol Dragon, summon!"
The two monsters disintegrated and were offered, their released energy coalescing in the storm of summoning. The swirling particles formed into a dark, heavy steel figure, with three jet-black heavy cannon barrels, sharp fangs, the sound of gears clashing and metal grinding, as the Steel Giant Dragon stepped onto the field.
[Revolver Pistol Dragon, Attack Power 2600]
This was also Thief Keith's ace from the anime.
"According to 'Netherworld's Treasure Scroll,' draw from the card deck!"
Thief Keith drew two cards.
"The effect of 'Orichalcos Barrier'! All monsters on my field have their attack power increased by 500, so Revolver Pistol Dragon's attack power rises!"
[Revolver Pistol Dragon, Attack Power 2600→Attack Power 3100]
"Now it's stronger than your Magician." Keith snickered, "Battle! Using 'Revolver Pistol Dragon,' attack 'Silent Magician!'"
The Revolver Pistol Dragon's three shoulder cannon barrels all turned, emitting the sounds of heavy machinery operating and grinding. The three cannon barrels locked onto Yugen's Silent Magician.
"At this moment, activate the effect of Revolver Pistol Dragon!" Keith shouted, "'Revolver Pistol Dragon,' when attacking, can toss three coins.
During this turn, it can attack as many times as the number of heads appearing on the tossed coins!" (Anime effect)
The three gun barrels aligned simultaneously, followed by the sound of bullets loading and the revolver cylinder spinning. Similarly, although it's about coin tossing, in the holographic projection system, it shows as a rotating cylinder.
Once loaded, two of the barrels glowed with a golden light.
"Heh, looks like I hit two. This turn, 'Revolver Pistol Dragon' can attack twice." Keith laughed heartily, "And your life is only 2500, with your cover cards cleared. This is the end!
This is the absolute power of Orichalcos, tremble under this force!
Revolver Pistol Dragon's attack!
The deadly revolver!"
First, from the left barrel of the Pistol Dragon, a deadly tongue of fire burst forth.
"At this moment, I activate a trap card from my hand!" Yugen waved his hand, and the trap card appeared in the stream of data before him, "Magic Tube!"
"What?" Keith was shocked, "Activating a trap from the hand!?"
How is this possible?
"It seems you don't recognize the trap you just destroyed."
Yugen's duel disc retrieved the recently demolished cover card from the graveyard zone.
"This card is the trap 'Cross Counter Trap'. When this card is sent to the graveyard by an opponent's effect, it allows you to activate a trap card from your hand, up to once this turn." (Anime card)
"Such a thing!?" Keith's face darkened.
"According to this effect, I activate 'Magic Tube' from my hand, nullifying that attack and inflicting damage equal to the attacking monster's attack power on you!"
The magnificent magic binoculars appeared on Yugen's field. The revolver's blast went straight into one side of the magic tube, and in less than half a second, the other side flipped over, reflecting the blinding fire back exactly as it came.
"Argh!"
Keith was blown backward by his own Orichalcos-enhanced cannon, his face contorting into an abstract shape, and his entire body was thrown to the ground, black smoke rising from his chest and abdomen.
[Thief Keith, LP 4000→LP 900]
"Damn..." Keith gritted his teeth.
He realized he had underestimated his opponent again.
Covering the backfield sacrificing Silent's attack power was already giving him a hint that "this trap is important." He thought he saw through his opponent's intentions, but it was actually his opponent who saw through his attempt to see through the intentions.
Deliberately guiding him to destroy the backfield, but in fact, it was a double trap, with the real trap concealed in his hand...
What a cunning little devil.
Keith took a deep breath, sat up, and looked at him coldly.
"I underestimated you." Thief Keith said in a deep voice, "Sly kid, but this doesn't change anything. And since you used a 'Magic Tube' from your hand, Silent Magician's attack power decreases!"
[Silent Magician, Attack Power 3000→Attack Power 2500]
"The battle isn't over, my 'Revolver Pistol Dragon' still has a second attack to use.
Aim again at Silent Magician, deadly revolver!"
Once more, the pitch-black barrel was lifted, and a cannon shot was fired with a roar. This time nothing blocked it; Silent Magician took the hit and temporarily retreated from the field as golden light.
[Yugen, LP 2500→LP 1900]
"But at this instant, Silent Magician's effect is also activated." Yugen said, "When Silent Magician is destroyed in battle or by an opponent's effect, you can special summon one 'Silent Magician' monster from your hand or deck, ignoring the summoning conditions.
Let the silent radiance emerge from the intersection of chaos and order, Light Magician, descend now—
—Silent Magician LV8!"
The energy released after Silent Magician was eliminated did not dissipate but was instead reorganized into a white magic array. From it erupted a more turbulent vortex of magic power, white light shot skyward, and the reborn Silent Magician, her expression frosted, spun elegantly as she reappeared on the field.
[Silent Magician LV8, Attack Power 3500]
"Tch, so it evolved and leveled up instead? Troublesome kid." Keith grumbled and then slapped another card down.
"Then I activate the magic card 'Heaven and Earth's Treasure Scroll'!" Keith said, "During the turn you perform an upper-level summon, draw two cards from the deck. But the cards drawn from this effect cannot be used that turn; if it can be set, at least one card must be set on the field." (Original card)
Keith drew two cards: "Because I performed an upper-level summoning with 'Revolver Pistol Dragon' this turn, I draw cards from the deck!"
He then selected one of them.
"Next, I set a card face-down on the field; end of the turn."
