Chapter 161 - Chapter 129: Summer Returns

League Year 198, April 1st, Summer.

Early in the morning, the farm was bustling with activity.

Led by Alcremie, several Nacli were stacked on the evolved Naclstack, running around the grass.

Glaceon lay quietly on the grass, watching them.

Butterfree and Combee buzzed around the blooming flower fields, diligently collecting nectar.

The Miltank chewed on the dew-covered fertile grass, leisurely basking in the sun.

Pawmo, donned in a Red Cloak, floated above the Chicken House, watching the chickens below.

The Gogoat crowded around the feeding trough, greedily eating Grassy Seeds.

Not far behind them, Smoliv stretched out the green leaves on its head, seemingly wanting the intense sunlight to reach every corner.

Nearby the fields, Naoki was directing several Pokemon to help with work.

"Koraidon, go get the seeds from the storage room for me, yes, the big box to the left of the entrance!"

"Dragonite, don't rush to do Rain Dance yet. Oh, by the way, did you deliver the milk today? You did? Great, hold on a moment, we'll plant the seeds with Cyclizar, and then you can do Rain Dance."

"Cyclizar, did you learn Dragon Claw from Koraidon before?"

"Gawoo!" Cyclizar nodded happily.

Naoki nodded in satisfaction: "Great, let's practice it here then! Use Dragon Claw on the ground!"

"Gawoo!"

Cyclizar let out a growl, then extended its claws as a strong white light burst forth, forming two sharp white claws.

Aiming at the slightly soft ground below, Cyclizar slashed hard, instantly leaving marks like those of a plow.

"It seems you've pretty much mastered this move." Naoki nodded approvingly, "Well done!"

"Gawoo~" Cyclizar looked a bit bashful.

"Alright then, let's continue!"

Naoki picked up a hoe, looking at the vast land before him, starting a new round of planting with Cyclizar.

With the hoe and Dragon Claw continuously at work, in joint efforts, they quickly completed the plowing.

Naoki received the seeds from Koraidon and summoned the Pokemon, giving each a bundle.

"You've all seen how I sow seeds, right?" Naoki asked.

Koraidon, Dragonite, and Cyclizar stood in a row, each holding a packet of seeds, nodding at his words.

"Ah-chi!"

"Awoo~"

"Gawoo!"

"Very well." But fearing confusion, Naoki demonstrated it again.

From the bag, he took out some seeds and placed them in the dug pit, saying:

"Just like this, take the seeds out and put them in, then cover the pit. However, be careful; don't sow too many seeds at once because they will compete for nutrients, and none will grow well."

The three Pokemon listened intently but confusedly.

Seeing this, Naoki gave them an example: "Take the Gogoat, I only give them those Grassy Seeds daily."

"The current amount is just enough, but if ten more Gogoat come, there won't be enough. They won't be full and will get weaker and eventually sick from malnutrition."

This time, the Pokemon understood.

"Let's begin then!" Check the seed types, Naoki instructed: "Cyclizar, you've got wheat seeds; plant them in that plot!"

"Koraidon, you're holding watermelon seeds, see that patch; go plant there."

"Dragonite, you've got melon seeds; plant them here."

With instructions given, the three Pokemon went off to work.

Naoki, holding a packet of hop seeds, headed to the spot where he'd set up scaffolding and diligently planted the seeds.

Days earlier, with some free time, he had cultivated a large area on the farm, partitioned into four sections.

One was planted with corn, another with pumpkins, a third with pineapples, and the last with sunflowers.

Naoki planned to create a Sunflora Field there; this crop is both beautiful and practical, producing sunflower seeds which can be pressed for oil and roasted into snacks.

In the cold winter, he could stay home watching TV, snacking on sunflower seeds.

Alcremie produces creamy caramel, and using this to roast seeds would yield a large batch of caramel-flavored snacks.

Unfortunately, Smoliv hasn't evolved yet, otherwise he wouldn't need to buy oil from town; the oil from Smoliv would suffice for farm use.

Time ticked by, and it wasn't until noon that all the fieldwork was done.

As the temperature rose, Naoki felt the intense sunlight and dry air, thinking to himself, this is summer!

Smoliv loves this weather since it can turn the abundant sunlight into nutrients.

During a break, Naoki glanced over and indeed saw Smoliv basking comfortably in the sun on the lawn.

With fieldwork done, the Pokemon were panting heavily from exhaustion.

Naoki used a hose to wash the sweat off them.

"Good job!"

Dragonite, direct as always, performed Rain Dance, drawing a cloud over the grass it stood on.

In no time, the sun was covered, and a light drizzle began.

Dragonite shook its head with relish in the rain.

Outside this area, it was still a bright Sunny Day.

Naoki looked at this incredulously.

At this moment, several wild Psyduck across the farm were drawn in, gazing curiously in this direction.

With hands propping their heads, they looked silly, hopping around on the grass, seemingly wanting to come play in the water, too.

Naoki noticed them.

Occasionally, some wild Pokemon pass by and stop briefly on the farm.

Like Bird-type Pokemon flying overhead, or Bug-type Pokemon that wandered in.

Those Psyduck drifted down from upstream a few days ago, perhaps because the water flowed slower here, allowing them to reach the shore.

Since then, these wild Psyduck have been living on the opposite grass of the farm.

Naoki shook his head, focusing on the task at hand.

Seeing Cyclizar and Koraidon were almost rinsed, he went inside to get a dry towel, drying the water off them.

At the same time, pondering what to have for lunch today.

Feeling this slightly warm weather, watching the Pokemon playing on the farm, Naoki suddenly had a brilliant idea for a new dessert.

Got it!
