Chapter 439 - Chapter 122: Student Assembly

Space reconstruction is not an easy task.

The wardrobe space is built upon The Undetectable Extension Charm, with various other Spells layered on top, affecting each other.

To change it, it's not as simple as tearing down a poster from the wall, but rather like peeling off the wall's surface to extract a specific wire from within.

It took Vid an entire day just to clear out the excess clutter, thankfully the Room of Requirement's space for hiding things was limitless, and it could fit anything.

For the reusable Magic Materials, building materials, various minerals, and plants, Vid temporarily demarcated an area to categorize and place them.

If the Fantastic Beasts inside the space had the ability to survive in the wild, Vid would release them, but he kept some behind—

Young cubs without parents, injured or disabled animals, and Magical Creatures that had lost their habitat due to human activities; releasing them would mean letting them die.

Due to the influence of Scamander and Steven, Vid also loved various Fantastic Beasts and thus still set aside half of the area for them to live in.

The other half, Vid planned to establish his own Magic research lab and a library, which was a considerable project he intended to complete gradually over time.

Currently, what's most important to him is to learn the magic of Apparition and the Portkey.

However, after Vid returned to school, he waited several days and still did not see Dumbledore appear, nor did the issue about the island make the papers.

But during his free time, he occasionally heard students whispering—

"Have you heard about that incident?" Ernie Macmillan of Hufflepuff whispered to Hanna Aber beside him, "I never would've imagined they had the guts to do such a thing."

Hanna Aber frowned in annoyance, "My mom told me to apply to stay at school this Christmas. I think they're making a fuss about nothing; is there really danger on the way home?"

"The Obscurus has disappeared, do you know how serious that is?" Blaise Zabini from Slytherin said gravely to his friend, "Only very few Wizards can stand against such a monster."

"It's not like it would attack the Hogwarts Express, right?" Pansy Parkinson said dismissively, "Even—well, you know—even he never attacked the school train."

"The Obscurus is a mindless monster; who knows what it might do." Theodore Nott said gloomily.

Rumors quietly spread around the school; most of those discussing it were Pure-Bloods. They were secretive and would immediately stop talking when Half-Bloods and Muggle-born students approached.

It seemed like at times like this, the differences in bloodlines overshadowed house conflicts.

On Friday, Vid used the Time Turner to attend both an Ancient Magic Script Class and a Muggle Studies class.

After class, when he and a weary Hermione had packed their bags and were ready to head to the dining hall, Theo suddenly popped out from around a corner, eyes lighting up as he saw them.

"I've finally found you two, Vid, Hermione." Theo pulled them along and said, "Quick, come with me. You two are the last ones we needed."

"What?" Vid asked, not understanding.

He looked at Hermione, who seemed equally confused.

"What's going on? Can we talk about it after eating? I'm starving!" Hermione asked.

"Don't worry, we've brought the food along!" Theo said, "This is rather important, and everyone needs to know soon—especially you two. Apart from meal times, you both are so busy that it's hard to find you."

As he spoke, he waved his Magic Wand, and a cloud of red fireworks shot into the sky, exploding with a "bang."

Theo explained, "This is to let everyone know you've been found and to notify them to gather."

Hermione felt even more bewildered, but seeing Theo's serious expression, she suddenly started feeling uneasy.

Vid vaguely guessed something and told Hermione, "Let's go. Theo knows what he's doing. There probably is something important happening."

Filled with questions, Hermione followed them as they passed through the castle and happened to run into a group of Slytherin students.

The group was originally discussing something animatedly, but seeing them, they suddenly fell silent, staring at Vid and Hermione with peculiar looks.

It was somewhat unusual.

Although the two were known across the school as "Muggle-born," apart from a few, most of the Slytherins had great respect for Vid.

And as a top student and a close friend of Harry and Vid, while Malfoy and his cohort often had conflicts with them, students from other years would not directly show hostility.

Hermione felt a slight prickling on her scalp but quickly gathered her courage and stared back defiantly.

These Slytherins were lower-year students, and facing the Gryffindor Lioness, most looked away instinctively, though some stared back challengingly.

Theo's expression looked a bit unnatural, and he quickened his pace with a stern face.

Vid always completely ignored such people, not even noticing their looks; his mind was full of the paper on Portkeys he had just read in class.

To Vid, irrelevant people were like potted plants on the roadside; he would just go around them without giving them any notice.

The two groups brushed past each other, and after walking some distance, Hermione looked back to see several lower-year Slytherins still staring at their backs.
