Chapter 117 - Chapter 11: Suitcase and Pencil Case

Just as Vid was about four or five centimeters away from the chick, he suddenly felt a slight tingling in his fingers, and at the same time he noticed that Rolf's hair had puffed up like a startled porcupine.

Vid understood in his heart that he probably looked the same.

Rolf laughed silently, then tugged Vid's arm, and the two of them snuck away from the stone pillar like they were thieves.

Turning left and right, they ended up in a warm and humid bamboo forest. Only then did Rolf laugh out loud.

"Isn't it amazing? Thunderbird chicks are born with electricity."

Rolf laughed heartily while using his palm to gather water from the bamboo leaves, tidying up his messy hair.

Vid drew out his Magic Wand: "Aguamenti."

A stream of water gushed down along the bamboo branches, and Rolf immediately gave a thumbs up!

The two of them fixed their hair with the flowing water. Suddenly Vid saw a dung beetle larger than a Crup pushing a comparably huge dung ball, slowly walking past them.

Newt's suitcase space is more magical than Granian Farm; a short walk here feels like arriving in a new world.

Turning a corner, the bamboo forest transforms into a tropical grassland; walking casually for a bit, and unwittingly reaching a rainforest.

There's just a curtain separating icy lands and birds and flower fragrance; giant rocks separate sand and water domains.

A very small cave ahead expands rapidly upon entry, quickly transforming into a massive stone cave;

A simple oak door swings open to reveal distant mountains and endless lakes.

Moreover, Newt has raised many 4X even 5X level dangerous creatures, yet in front of that man, these terrifying creatures become as docile as children, lowering their heads to enjoy his touch.

Even Rolf can play or feed these creatures freely, without any worry of getting hurt.

"I really love them," Rolf said, puffing his cheeks: "But Grandpa always says they shouldn't be kept in such confined spaces."

"So even though he constantly rescues Magical Creatures in distress, once they can survive on their own, he releases them back to their original habitats."

"If animals could use Friendship Book, it would be great... That way, even if we part, we wouldn't lose contact."

He spoke while holding a young Remu Ox, both displaying similarly pitiful expressions, looking hopefully at Vid.

Vid couldn't help but laugh: "Even if I could get animals to use Friendship Book, they wouldn't know how to read!"

Rolf's expression fell immediately, he sighed deeply with worry: "Ah, I knew it wouldn't work... Isn't there a way to communicate without writing?"

"There is," Vid sat beside him, saying: "Isn't the Two-Sided Mirror one way?"

"But Two-Sided Mirrors are rare and too expensive," Rolf said dejectedly: "I have many friends, but not much allowance."

Vid couldn't help but laugh again.

The boy was so round-headed and cute. When he made adult-like worried expressions, he was even more amusing.

While laughing, he was subtly touched internally.

Two-Sided Mirror... seems like a promising research avenue...

...

After a tour, Vid found the chance to seek Newt's advice on the application of The Undetectable Extention Charm.

Newt dedicated his life to protecting Fantastic Beasts, and his magical suitcase played a crucial role in this endeavor. Vid suspected that even Dumbledore couldn't rival Newt in applying The Undetectable Extention Charm.

In this field, he was undeniably a world-class Master.

Vid also showed Newt his pencil case, which unfolded layer by layer, transforming finally into a tall wardrobe.

Seeing the wardrobe taller than a person, Newt stared for quite a while before murmuring softly: "Yeah, wardrobes are so convenient..."

When he was young he didn't feel it, but after aging, climbing up and down the stairs inside the suitcase became a tremendous test on his bones.

Newt and Vid walked into the wardrobe space, after a round, he praised: "A truly excellent application... I didn't expect a twelve-year-old Young Wizard to reach this level..."

"But being like this, it remains a simple storage space."

Vid frowned and said: "It seems there's no way to make it like your suitcase, where multiple spaces seem stitched together and yet so harmonious without any conflict or feeling of weirdness."

Discussing his area of expertise, Newt visibly grew confident. He smiled and said: "Space stitching... that's a very apt description."

"Inside my suitcase, I indeed stitched together many real spaces."

"Real spaces?" Vid asked, pondering: "Is it similar to folding space and then unfolding it inside the suitcase... such magic?"

"Not so complicated."

Newt held his palm, thinking for a while before speaking:

"You know, the most dangerous creatures on this planet for the Fantastic Beasts are the billions of humans."

"Humans transform more and more natural environments into concrete and steel cities, leaving lesser habitats suitable for creatures."

"To provide appropriate habitats for the little ones, I, before Muggles destroy local environments, use Diffindo to segment out parts, then... uh, the Shrinking Spell and Enlargement Charm complete the transfer..."

He explained simply, but Vid thought about it and realized the difficulty... nearly towering skyscraper high.

Here's a simple example—

Before the Christmas holidays, Vid once saw senior students getting a tall spruce ready to decorate as the school's tallest Christmas tree.

That spruce which Hagrid could carry alone, required five or six students simultaneously using Levioso to move it to the right spot.

And Newt?

His suitcase even has snowy mountains!

Newt continued: "Sometimes it doesn't require such complexity, by using Space Connecting Spell, connecting part of the suitcase's space with external spaces, allowing mutual access."

"Do you see that lake? Underneath, it connects to Loch Ness in Scotland, so the Kelpie can move between both sides."

"But this brings a risk of invasion, special care is needed when choosing to connect spaces."

"So, how do you ensure the stability of the suitcase's internal space hmm?"

Vid asked: "I've heard that if a spell fails, internal objects might burst the container. But it seems you don't need to worry about this."

"Well, that's my little personal technique."

Newt revealed a slightly proud smile: "During my travels, I learned from Fantastic Beasts ways to divide space..."
