Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Never Mind a Few Bowls of Rice Noodles

"Mamma mia..."

Professor Cronos felt extremely conflicted as he hurried to the Fusion Department venue.

Why did this suddenly happen?

Holding the Ancient Gear Golem card in his hand, his thoughts were tangled. As a teacher who had once "framed" Yuki Judai and hoped the "delinquent" would drop out, he was utterly confused upon hearing that a student from Blue Academy did the same thing.

For personal reasons, he wanted to get rid of Yuki Judai; this Blue Academy student, also for personal reasons, wanted to drive away students of other colors. But, as a teacher, he believed that such actions were undeniably wrong.

This contrast made Professor Cronos, as a "teacher," somewhat annoyed. It's said that those below emulate those above. Would others see his attempts to drive Yuki Judai away after losing to him the same way?

Otherwise, why didn't Tenjo even bother to defend himself and just started a duel?

"Professor, can we start the duel?" Tenjo Hikari couldn't help but remind Cronos, who had been silent.

"Hmm... alright then, I'll serve as the witness. Now—"

"Duel!" x2

Tenjo Hikari LP: 4000

Ryu LP: 4000

"As your senior, I'll let you go first." Ryu graciously conceded the first move.

He had already researched Tenjo Hikari's deck, which was a "Full Fusion" deck. The combination of Ready Fusion and Metamorphosis could quickly summon Fusion Monsters—quite impressive—but if not combined properly, the monsters special summoned by Ready Fusion would self-destruct at the end of the turn.

So, by letting Tenjo Hikari go first, Ryu could have a greater advantage!

Tenjo Hikari raised an eyebrow.

"Then I'll go ahead, senior—"

"My turn, draw!"

Tenjo Hikari glanced at his hand cards.

Professor Cronos's inner turmoil didn't bother Tenjo Hikari. He knew that these Blue Academy guys didn't care about his situation; they just wanted to get rid of him, and there was no need to dwell on that.

In the world of dueling, you resolve issues by dueling!

Falling into a self-justifying trap is not an option!

As for the hand... full of fusions again.

Looking at the fusion cards in hand, Tenjo Hikari felt helpless.

In fact, Tenjo Hikari had put quite a few monsters into his deck—be it Ancient Gears or the readily available Elemental Heroes in GX World, he had added plenty—but he just couldn't draw them.

There were still too many fusions in the deck.

"I activate the Continuous Spell Card, Overload Future Fusion!"

"According to its effect, I reveal a Fusion Monster from my Extra Deck, then send one of its Fusion Materials from the deck to the Graveyard." Tenjo Hikari opened his Extra Deck, picked one card, and slightly smiled, "I reveal the Labyrinth Tank and send Cannon Soldier as its material to the Graveyard.

This turn, I can't Special Summon monsters with the same name or use those effects."

Another new fusion, huh?

How many fusions does that kid have in his deck?

"Hmph, meaningless. Sending materials to the Graveyard is useless without monsters on the field, and they are completely vulnerable!"

Tenjo Hikari chuckled, then sternly declared, "Foolish!"

?

"Fusion is the noblest form of summoning. As a member of the Fusion Department, you easily come to such conclusions without enough respect for fusion!

Wait and see, I'll soon show you the nobility of fusion!"

"Set two cards, end turn!"

No monsters, yet he speaks so boastfully?

"Hmph, let me show you how ridiculous you are, just another Yellow Academy..." Ryu sneered and then drew his card, smirking coldly, "Ha..."

Looking at the cards in his hand, he couldn't help but grin hideously.

This annoying Yellow Academy freshman dared to join their Blue Academy's "Holy Land," and even summoned the professor to witness the duel, revealing his mischief and pleasure. In Ryu's heart, he had come to loathe Tenjo Hikari. Now seeing the card in his hand, he burst into wild laughter.

"Haha, I activate the Spell Card, Polymerization! Using Giga-Tech Wolf and Cannon Soldier from my hand as Fusion Material, I Fusion Summon—Labyrinth Tank!"

Rumble—the ground erupted with a vehicle full of countless crimson drills.

Labyrinth Tank, LV 7, Dark Attribute, Machine-Type, ATK 2400. Fusion Monster.

"Didn't you say I didn't have enough respect for fusion? Then tell me, why haven't you fused, while I've summoned this monster!?" Ryu laughed.

Tenjo Hikari ignored him and pressed a button on his duel disk: "Activate Trap Card."

"Trap Card? What's this, weren't you boasting that a Fusion Deck should only have fusions?" Ryu quickly responded, like grabbing a handle on Tenjo Hikari, laughing heartily.

Tenjo Hikari glared and instantly declared, "No interruptions! Watch closely!"

"You—"

"I activate the Trap Card, Flame Swordsdance!"

"Flame Swordsdance?"

"This is a Trap Card that can only be activated when a monster is Special Summoned!" Tenjo Hikari took a small fusion card from his Extra Deck and showed it to everyone, "Special Summon one LV 7 or lower Fusion Monster with 'Flame Swordsman' in its name!

Come forth, the legendary swordsman, Flame Swordsman!"

With a fiery blaze, a crimson swordsman wielding a red greatsword slowly emerged from the flames.

Flame Swordsman, LV 5, Fire Attribute, Warrior-Type, ATK 1800. Fusion Monster.

"It's actually Flame Swordsman!?"

"Wow, that's a legendary card!"

Tenjo Hikari slightly curled his lips.

This is a Fusion Monster requiring two monsters as Fusion Material, with only 1800 ATK. Even in this era, it's unimpressive, easily crushed by a single Cyber Dragon from Marufuji Ryo.

But... it truly is a "legendary" Monster Card, as this card belonged to Jonouchi Katsuya, a duelist said to be only below Muto Yugi and Kaiba Seto. It's a rare card among rare cards.

The original owner didn't have this card either; it was created in the past few days by Tenjo Hikari with Super Polymerization.

"After the special summoning effect of Flame Swordsdance, it can turn one face-up monster on the field into face-down Position.

I wouldn't want a Fusion Monster to suffer in your hands. Labyrinth Tank, be covered."

The newly emerged tank was immediately covered by a massive card image, suppressing it downwards.

"Oh my, using a trap to fuse and its effect for protection?"

"Who's this student? I haven't seen him before?"

"A new student? His deck feels so... fusion-heavy!"

"This is what a Fusion Deck should be!"

"Ryu wanted to drive away such a student?"

"Even though he's not Blue, his heart is Purple!"

Some initially there for the chaos, not understanding what was happening, now saw this spectacle and marveled at Tenjo Hikari among the Fusion Army students.

They were members of the Fusion Army, part of the "Fusion Supremacy Fanatics," and seeing such a duel from Tenjo Hikari, they were naturally excited.

"Tch..." Hearing the surrounding whispers and realizing that some Blues realigned their support due to the opponent's performance, Ryu gritted his teeth, "Just another Yellow..."

He vaguely sensed that today might be tough!

Even if he wins, the other students probably wouldn't let Tenjo Hikari go!
