It felt less like she was watching the news and more like she was watching her own life unravel, frame by frame, dissected for the world's entertainment. One outlet replayed Damien's arrest again and again; another speculated about her silence; others shifted the focus to their marriage, painting her as either a victim, a fool, or a willing accomplice. Everywhere she turned, there was no escape, just a thousand voices pulling apart her reality.
She rose abruptly, her bare feet soft against the hardwood floor as she paced. Hazel remained seated on the edge of the couch, saying nothing, just offering her quiet presence.
"What do you think Damien's family will say, Hazel?" Jossy's voice broke. "His parents have always been kind to me… how do I face them now? And in court? my God, I don't even know what I'll do.
