Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: The Wight of Kings

The first dawn after the battle was quiet. The rift that had torn through the heavens was gone, yet the wound it left behind still lingered in the air–a faint shimmer across the horizon, like the memory of a scar that refused to fade.

Rimuru stood alone on the terrace of his palace, a mug of steaming tea in hand. The sunlight spilled across the white marble, and for the first time in days, the breeze carried no trace of ash or magic.

He closed his eyes and let out a slow breath. Peace–fragile, fleeting, and precious.

A Morning of Reflection

"Thinking too much again?"

Rimuru opened one eye and saw Hinata leaning against a marble pillar, arms crossed, her rapier Moonlight hanging loosely at her hip. She wasn't in her armor today–just a simple sleeveless tunic and dark trousers–but her posture was as disciplined as ever.

Rimuru smiled faintly. "Good morning to you too, Hinata. You always sneak up like that?"

"Only when you're lost in thought," she replied, stepping closer. "You didn't sleep."

"I don't really need to," Rimuru said, sipping his tea. "Perks of being... whatever I am now."

Hinata tilted her head, studying him. "Whatever you are? You're a king, Rimuru. A leader. And right now, you're the only reason this continent isn't burning."

He chuckled softly. "Flattery? From you? I should mark this day on the calendar."

Hinata rolled her eyes but didn't argue. Instead, she turned her gaze toward the horizon, where the faint shimmer of void still lingered. "You saved us yesterday. But that thing–whatever it was–it wasn't defeated. Just delayed."

"I know," Rimuru said quietly. "And it's not done with us yet."

Luminous Joins

"Of course it isn't," came a silken voice from behind them. "The abyss never forgets."

Luminous Valentine stepped onto the terrace, dressed in an elegant black gown, her silver hair braided loosely over one shoulder. Her crimson and blue glowed faintly, reflecting both warmth and something ancient–something dangerous.

Hinata frowned slightly. "You're up early."

Luminous smiled, showing just the faintest hint of fangs. "I don't sleep either, dear. Besides, watching the sunrise is... comforting. Even for those of us who prefer the night."

Rimuru gestured toward the stone bench beside him. "The join us. We're having a quiet morning before the chaos starts again."

Luminous sat gracefully, her movements like flowing silk. "How quaint. The king, the knight, and the vampire sharing tea at dawn."

Hinata gave a small, reluctant smirk. "Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke."

"Or a very good alliance," Rimuru added, his tone softer.

The Nature of Power

The Silence that followed wasn't awkward–rather, it was contemplative. The world seemed to breathe with them, the morning calm like the eye of a storm.

After a while, Luminous spoke again. "You're changing, Rimuru."

Rimuru blinked. "Changing?"

"Yes," she said simply. "The aura around you–your soul–it's different. Stronger, but not just in power. It's as if you're evolving into something that doesn't belong to this world anymore."

Hinata looked at him sharply. "Is that true?"

Rimuru sighed, staring into his cup. "Ceil says I'm... merging powers. Beelzebuth, Eternal Null–they're trying to become something new. I can feel it, but I'm not sure what it'll make me."

Luminous's eyes glinted with intrigue. "Something beyond gods, perhaps."

Rimuru laughed quietly. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I just want to keep everyone safe. That's all."

Hinata studied him, her voice low. "That's what makes you dangerous."

He looked up, surprised.

"You carry too much alone," she continued. "Even gods fall when they try to hold everything by themselves. You think being strong means protecting everyone, but it's not just your burden. Let us share it."

Luminous nodded, her gaze softening. "Even I, who have ruled for centuries, understand this truth. To rule is not to bear the world–it's to guide those who will help you carry it."

Rimuru looked at both of them, a rare moment of vulnerability in his eyes. "You're both saying I'm too stubborn, huh?"

Hinata smirked. "You said it, not us."

Council of Tempest

By midday, the throne room was alive again. Benimaru, Shuna, Shion, Souei, Diablo, and several envoys from from allied nations filled the chamber. Luminous stood beside Rimuru's throne, while Hinata remained near the doorway–guarding, observing, listening.

Benimaru was first to speak. "We've begun reinforcing the outer wall and doubling patrols. The people are anxious, but morale is high."

Shuna added, her voice gentle yet firm, "The Church of Luminous has sent aid and priests to assist the wounded. Their cooperation has eased tension between nations."

Rimuru nodded appreciatively. "Good. That's what we need–unity, not fear."

Diablo bowed deeply, his dark wings shimmering faintly. "My lord, I have... spoken to the shadows. There are rumors spreading beyond this world. Whispers that the Herald who appeared was not the first."

The room went silent.

"Not the first?" Luminous echoed.

Diablo smiled faintly, though his tone was grave. "No. It is said that there are seven Heralds, each bearing a shard of the void's consciousness. The one we faced was merely the Watcher–its weakest aspect."

Rimuru frowned, his fingers drumming on the armrest. "Seven..."

Hinata exhaled sharply. "Then we're not fighting one enemy. We're fighting an army."

Rimuru leaned back, eyes narrowing. "Or worse–a pantheon."

Conversations in Twilight

That evening, after the council disbanded, Rimuru walked alone through the gardens of Tempest. The air smelled of rain and roses, and faint magical lights floated among the trees.

He paused beside a reflecting pool, watching his own image ripple across the water. His reflection didn't look quite the same anymore. His hair shone brighter, his eyes faintly luminous even in shadow.

Ciel's voice whispered softly in his mind. ⟪Master. Your evolution continues at an accelerated rate. Emotional stability detected. Probability of divine ascension: 63%.⟫

"Divine ascension, huh?" Rimuru murmured. "Doesn't sound like me."

⟪On the contrary. You exhibit traits of true origin being–creation, protection, balance. These are the pillars of the Genesis tier.⟫

Rimuru sighed. "And if I don't want to be a god?"

⟪Then you will be something greater.⟫

He chuckled softly. "You always say things like that to make me nervous."

A Moment with Luminous

The sound of footsteps broke his thoughts. Luminous appeared from the path, her silver hair catching the moonlight. She walked slowly, her expression unreadable.

"I thought you'd be resting," Rimuru said, smiling faintly.

Luminous stopped beside him, her reflection joining his in the water. "And leave you alone with that expression? I think not."

"The one you wear when you're blaming yourself."

He looked away. "You noticed that, huh?"

Luminous smiled faintly. "Of course. You're not the only one who carries the past, Rimuru. You saved this world once already. But peace always births envy–and envy, chaos."

Rimuru glanced at her. "You sound like you've seen this before."

"I have," she whispered. "Empires rise and fall, faith becomes tyranny, light breeds its own darkness. You can't stop it. But you can shape how it ends."

Rimuru's eyes softened. "You really are wiser than you let on."

Luminous's smile turned playful. "Flattery again? You're learning."

They shared a quiet laugh, and for a moment, the weight of kingship faded. The world was silent but alive–the kind of peace only found before another storm.

Hinata's Vow

Later, as Rimuru returned to the palace, he found Hinata standing guard by the gate, her gaze fixed on the stars.

"You never sleep, do you?" he asked.

Hinata shrugged. "Neither do you."

He chuckled. "Fair point."

She looked at him, her expression unreadable. "Rimuru....If it comes to it–if the void attacks again–I'll fight by your side. But it you start losing yourself to whatever power is awakening inside you, I'll stop you myself."

Rimuru blinked, then smiled softly. "I'd expect nothing less."

Hinata nodded. "Good. Then we understand each other."

As she turned to leave, Rimuru called after her. "Hinata."

She paused.

"Thanks. For being honest. I'll need people like you to keep me grounded."

Hinata smirked faintly. "Just don't make me draw my sword on you, Rimuru."

Closing Scene–The Dream

That night, Rimuru finally rested. But his dreams were not peaceful.

He found himself standing in a boundless void–endless, silent, and alive with stars. From the darkness, a figure emerged–featureless, vast, and radiant with cosmic energy.

A voice echoed–not Ciel's, but something older.

"You are close, Rimuru Tempest. Too close. The world is watching you. The void is watching you. Even creation itself holds its breath."

RImuru frowned. "Who are you?"

"A fragment of what you will become–or what you might destroy."

The stars around him flickered like dying embers.

"When the seventh Herald descends, your choice will decide the fate of all realms. Remember this: even gods fear the will of those who choose to protect."

The void rippled, and the voice faded.

Rimuru opened his eyes to dawn. The first light of morning spilled through his window, and for a fleeting moment, he felt something stir deep within him–a warmth, gentle and infinite.

Ciel's voice came softly, almost tender. ⟪Rest complete. Emotional state: stabilized. Awaiting new directive.⟫

Rimuru smiled faintly. "Then let's keep moving, Ciel. The world isn't done with us yet."

And somewhere beyond the stars, something vast stirred in reply.
