Chapter 234 - Chapter 234 The Key to Godhood

Yusei found himself standing on a street, with pedestrians in front and behind him. However, they didn't seem to notice the curiosity in his eyes, simply walking past him as if it were completely normal.

Yusei looked blankly at his own hands, then at his surroundings.

Especially his clothes. He was still wearing thick winter attire.

The passing pedestrians seemed to have slow neural reactions. It was only then that some people started looking strangely at Yusei.

Feeling their gazes, Yusei didn't say much and quickly left the area.

Finding a slightly more secluded spot, Yusei took off his thermal underwear underneath, leaving only a light, cool shirt and trousers.

Even with this adjustment, it only made him look less strange, not exactly cool and comfortable.

But these issues weren't the most important right now.

If his transmigration didn't count, this was his first true cross-world travel.

Yusei leaped onto the rooftop of a nearby building, looking at the city that was both different from his memory yet somewhat familiar.

He was basically certain: This city was Tokyo.

The Tokyo Tower was a very conspicuous structure, not hard to recognize.

Knowing he had successfully traveled, Yusei's first task was naturally to gather information.

Or so he thought. He immersed his thoughts, trying to query the system.

But the system didn't respond at all, as if it had fallen completely silent.

The only proof of its existence was the series quest.

The series quest had changed slightly.

[Series Quest: Elements Required for World Construction]

[Current Mission: Nurture the World Tree's Seed.]

[Mission Objective: Search within the [Campione!] World for the World's Origin to nurture the World Tree's Seed.]

Yusei looked at the mission, falling into deep thought, 'The information was sparse: Find the [World's Origin] in this world? But what was the World's Origin?'

He didn't understand, couldn't comprehend it. So, his final solution was to stop thinking about it. Even though he doesn't know, his main goal here isn't to collect some World's Origin anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Yusei's most fundamental purpose for coming to this world was to seize the Authorities of Heretic Gods. Everything else could be set aside.

However, regarding the matter of Authorities, Yusei had some considerations.

First: Where to find the Heretic Gods? According to the original work, he could go to Sardinia, Italy.

But at what point in time? When should he go?

Yusei didn't think he could stay there for months, or even a year or two.

The key issue was that this lousy system didn't inform him of the timeframe when he crossed over.

Was it the start of the original plot? Earlier? Or later?

That was the first point.

Secondly: Was randomly absorbing power really a good idea?

This point was also quite important. Yusei possessed the Futsu no Mitama and the Susanoo. The roots of these two powers were both related to Japanese mythology.

One belonged to Susanoo-no-Mikoto, the other to Takemikazuchi-no-o no kami.

This raised a crucial question: the origin of his power came from these two gods, and they shared the same source, the same mythological system.

So, if he seized a god's Authority from, say, Greek Mythology in this world, would these two different powers conflict?

If he simply wanted to control these Authorities, for example, the Authority to summon wind from Japanese Mythology and the Authority to call rain from Greek Mythology, then it probably wouldn't matter.

After all, power is power, regardless of its origin. As long as it works, right?

But Yusei actually had his own small ambition. After mastering Futsu no Mitama and feeling its power, he had been harboring a desire.

That was: using the power of the divine artifact, could he himself truly become a god?

Some gods are born divine, some gather faith and are worshipped into godhood, and others form naturally from mountains, rivers, seas, etc.

They are called gods. Yusei wasn't entirely clear on the specifics of why they could be called 'gods'.

But after mastering Futsu no Mitama, a certain power let him understand a little better: it was the [Divine Power] contained within Futsu no Mitama.

Similar to Sword Intent, mental energy, physical stamina, or the unique energy from Kanna and Tohru's world, Divine Power was also a form of energy, but of a very high level, extremely pure.

Only when Yusei utilized the natural lightning energy from Tohru's world could he barely compare.

This Divine Power was powerful. Combined with the title [God], the reason for being called a god was probably their long lifespan and that unique power… Divine Power.

The lifespan issue was also something Yusei had always wanted to solve, but currently had no method for.

So he set his sights on the latter, Divine Power.

In Yusei's conception, Divine Power was a crucial factor in determining whether a being could be called a god.

Returning to the previous question.

If the goal was simply to control the power to summon wind and rain, then the origin of the seized Authority didn't matter… Greek, Japanese, either was fine.

But if the goal was to truly obtain Divine Power, then Yusei felt it was clearly better to aim for powers similar to his own.

Therefore, the best targets would be figures from Japanese Mythology, with the optimal choices being Susanoo-no-Mikoto or Takemikazuchi-no-o no kami.

Having made this judgment, Yusei decided not to go to the Western countries to randomly absorb other gods' Authorities. He would stay peacefully in Japan and look for Heretic Gods native to Japan.

Here, the role of intelligence became crucial.

But then again, how should he collect this intelligence?

The vast majority of people in this world were still ordinary, their lives were mundane. If he asked them about Heretic Gods, Authorities, Campione, they wouldn't know.

After thinking it over properly, Yusei decided to first find a hotel to stay in, take a good bath, have a meal, go out to buy some normal summer clothes, and then consider the intelligence problem.

Yusei was a relatively refined person. At the very least, before doing anything major, he wanted to ensure he was in good condition.

It's like how the British Army's individual combat rations are very refined, refined to the point of being suitable for a picnic, completely ignoring the need for speed on the battlefield.

Of course, Yusei wasn't going to war. He could naturally take it easy. His own comfort was the priority.
