Yusei jumped directly from the balcony. As he was about to hit the ground from the high rise, a phantom skeleton enveloped him.
Thud!
Like a heavy object landing, it created a large crater in the deserted ground below.
Yusei didn't hesitate for a moment. He immediately dismissed the skeleton and agilely leaped out, charging into the distance.
If he wasn't mistaken, the direction of those dark clouds was precisely where his home was. And his intuition told him that the matter definitely involved the people or dragons in his home-
Which meant he had to get back quickly.
Yusei directly activated Sword Intent Mode.
Blue Sword Intent swirled around his body, making it look like he was carrying some kind of blue light.
His speed was extreme. He directly leaped over streets and alleys, or jumped across building rooftops.
When the distance wasn't too far, relying on his own running was better than taking the congested trains.
And that's exactly what Yusei did.
Soon, as Yusei approached his neighborhood, he was stunned to find that the pedestrians nearby were all lying on the ground, looking as if they were asleep.
Looking up at the sky, he discovered that on the floor where his apartment was, Tohru was talking to a black-robed old man in the sky.
Yusei narrowed his eyes slightly, pushed off hard with his feet, and leaped into the air. Using nearby tall buildings as stepping stones, he directly jumped up to his floor.
Yusei's sudden appearance startled Tohru, who had been arguing about something.
"Yusei?"
Yusei smiled, "I'm here. What's going on? Who is that old man?"
Hearing Yusei's words, the initial joy Tohru felt upon seeing him faded, replaced by dejection.
"That is..."
Before Tohru could finish, the black-robed old man high in the sky, surrounded by dark clouds and lightning, spoke indifferently.
"So you are the human Tohru mentioned who saved her? You don't look particularly special."
"However, that's not the topic for today. I am taking Tohru away."
Hearing this, Yusei frowned slightly and stopped Tohru, who was about to say something. He looked at the black-robed old man high in the sky and said calmly, "On what grounds?"
"On what grounds?" The old man seemed surprised that Yusei would say that word, muttering it twice before bursting into laughter.
"On what grounds? On the grounds that Tohru is my daughter. As her father, I need to protect her. Considering you saved Tohru, is my explanation satisfactory, human?"
"Wha... Father?!" Yusei's previously calm aura faltered. He looked incredulously at Tohru beside him.
"Yeah, he is my father." Tohru admitted reluctantly, but still looked resolutely at the black-robed old man in the sky.
"I told you, I won't go back with you. I've just made up my mind to become Yusei's maid, to stay with him always. How could I possibly go back with you?"
"Maid? A pointless thing. You say you want to stay with him always, but a human's lifespan is so brief. For our dragon race, it's but the blink of an eye."
"If you stay here, in the end, you will only bring sorrow upon yourself. It's better to cut it off from the start, lest you regret it in the end."
Tohru's father said mercilessly, his expression extremely aloof.
"I won't regret it! I absolutely will not regret it! I've made up my mind! No matter how long I can accompany him, for however long that is, I will definitely walk by his side!" Tohru said furiously.
Her father's words touched upon the very thing that worried her. Humans and dragons were different, as their life levels were simply not the same.
What her father said was completely correct. Compared to the long years of a dragon, a human's lifespan of decades or a century was truly just the blink of an eye.
It was a bit of an exaggeration, but the meaning was there.
Tohru had resolved today to accompany Yusei for his entire life. She had buried this worry deep in her mind, deciding to take things one step at a time and not think about it.
But she never expected her father to directly tear open this 'wound', which made Tohru extremely angry.
Yusei looked at the very agitated Tohru. The perpetually calm expression on his face suddenly broke into a smile.
He placed his hand on Tohru's head.
"Don't worry, Tohru. I've always been worried about not having a cute dragon maid. If you want to stay with me forever, nothing could make me happier."
Yusei's gentle voice made Tohru freeze, and she looked at him in a daze.
Yusei smiled at this and said lightly, "When I say forever, I mean truly forever. Where are the two little ones?"
Without saying too much on the previous topic, Yusei changed the subject.
"Shiro is in the room. Kanna is keeping her company."
Yusei nodded silently. Knowing Kanna was protecting Shiro, he was reassured.
He raised his head and looked at the black-robed old man in the sky, "You say taking Tohru away is to protect her. But can't I protect her if she stays by my side?"
"You?" The black-robed old man looked at Yusei disdainfully, extended a finger, and a red energy beam shot directly at Yusei.
Yusei sneered. The Susanoo rose. The red energy beam struck it without causing any ripple.
"Oh?" The black-robed old man let out a sound of surprise.
"It seems your ability to help Tohru isn't merely a lie she concocted just to stay."
"What do you think?" Yusei looked coldly at the other party.
The black-robed old man took a deep look at Yusei, no longer intending to attack.
Instead, he looked at Tohru.
"I ask you one more time. Do you wish to remain in this world, even if it means defying the rules of the worlds?"
Tohru lowered her head, biting her red lip. Suddenly, she felt her hand being held.
She froze, looking at Yusei beside her.
Yusei gave her a slight smile, "Don't worry. I'll always be by your side too."
Hearing this, Tohru's heart suddenly relaxed. The previously tense and anxious feeling in her heart seemed to lose some kind of shackle.
A smile reappeared on her face. Her orange-red dragon eyes looked at Yusei as she said, "Thank you, Yusei."
"You're my maid. Of course I'll protect you. If you're so determined, how could I not be equally determined?"
"Mhmm!"
Tohru nodded heavily. With the burden lifted from her heart, she looked at her father. Yusei beside her seemed to encourage her, interlocking his fingers tightly with hers.
Feeling Yusei's support, Tohru took a deep breath and said seriously to her father in the sky:
"I will not go back with you. I want to stay by Yusei's side. That is my answer!"
