Chapter 28 - Chapter 28 The Barking Wild Dog!

This competition was divided into individual and team events. The former was one-on-one, scored based on individual points.

The latter was also one-on-one, but the total team score was compared.

Yusei naturally...

Hearing these mocking words, Yusei frowned and looked at the speaker.

It was a tall man wearing protective gear, his head exposed. His average-looking face held jealousy and scorn.

Yusei searched his memory and was surprised to find that 'he' and this guy were practically enemies.

The other's name was Mimori Taiji, a violent bully who acted like a tyrant at school, enjoying using force to make other students submit.

At the same time, his family background was decent, with some money. Having both money and strength, he had quite a following at school.

'A school bully, huh.'

Yusei felt inwardly amused. He also discovered something interesting.

This guy had bullied his predecessor, extorted money from him. And the leader of those thugs who had asked Yusei for cigarette money last time was this very person.

Yusei ignored Taiji and looked at the student council president, Takeo, instead.

"President, does your Kendo Club really accept this kind of trash?"

This rhetorical question instantly made Taiji fly into a rage. He charged towards Yusei with his bamboo sword, as if to hit him.

"Mimori-kun, follow school rules and discipline, or I'll have to expel you from the Kendo Club."

Takeo stopped Taiji, who was about to strike. The latter glared fiercely at Yusei but actually stopped.

This intrigued Yusei. After all, based on his predecessor's understanding, this school bully wasn't an easygoing person.

Seeing Taiji calm down, Takeo turned to Yusei.

"Classmate, the Kendo Club is currently full and not accepting new members. Moreover, because there's a Kendo Competition soon, we aren't just accepting members based on interest alone."

The implication was: if you don't have a certain foundation in Kendo, don't come to the Kendo Club just to fill a spot.

After all, winning awards in a national-level competition like this could give bonus points for university entrance exams.

So, recently, many people wanted to join the Kendo Club just to snag an award.

Yusei shook his head and smiled lightly, "It's not just interest. I genuinely want to join the Kendo Club based on skill and then participate in the Kendo Tournament."

As he said this, Taiji, standing nearby, sneered.

"A good-for-nothing like you? And skill? Have you not been beaten enough lately?"

Yusei didn't respond. He directly looked at Takeo and pointed at Taiji beside him.

"If I teach this barking wild dog a lesson, would that prove I have skill?"

Takeo, who had been watching the match in the arena with a serious expression, couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.

'Barking wild dog...'

'How can you call someone a barking wild dog...'

Sure enough, before he could speak, Taiji on the side was already furious.

No longer caring about Takeo's threat of 'expulsion from the Kendo Club', he directly charged at Yusei with his bamboo sword.

Although Mimori Taiji was a bully, he had a good physique and was large-framed. He had joined the Kendo Tournament hoping to get bonus points for university exams, which was why he had been restraining himself.

But now, being called a 'barking wild dog' by Yusei, Taiji no longer cared about any exam bonus points.

Yusei watched the large figure charging at him without any panic. He moved his body backward, easily dodging.

Then, he casually snatched a bamboo sword from a nearby Kendo Club's member and swung it forward.

The bamboo sword in Yusei's hand struck Taiji's neck at a tricky angle.

There was no headgear there, so that area was unprotected. Yusei didn't hold back, and the strike made the other scream in pain.

Yusei sneered. His predecessor couldn't seek revenge himself, but now he is Kazami Yusei.

Since his predecessor had been bullied, Yusei would now repay it in kind.

Yusei didn't use any Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu techniques. He just fought like a thug, swinging the bamboo sword wildly.

Taiji, dazed by the first hit, naturally couldn't react afterward.

Having lost the initiative, he could only lie on the ground, covering his head and howling as Yusei beat him.
