Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryu!

In the outer wards of Tokyo, this wasn't the bustling city center, but the land prices weren't low either.

Generally speaking, this was an old residential area with traditional Japanese houses. Most of the people living here were from old families in the Tokyo Area.

Yusei was somewhat stunned looking at the large traditional Japanese residence before him.

He hadn't expected this old man to be so wealthy.

'Just selling this property would probably allow him to live comfortably in Tokyo for a lifetime, right?'

"Come on, let's go in."

The kimono-clad old man patted Yusei's shoulder and led the way inside.

Yusei naturally wasn't worried and followed him in.

The two passed through one ancient building after another until they reached the dojo at the back. This dojo was very spacious and completely empty.

Yusei noticed that, apart from the occasional servant they encountered along the way, there didn't seem to be any other people, like the old man's family members.

But since the old man didn't mention it, Yusei didn't ask.

"Come on, choose your weapon."

The kimono-clad old man pointed to a pile of weapons placed to the side of the dojo.

Yusei looked over but then realized all those weapons were swords.

They were different types of swords: broadswords, traditional Chinese jian, Japanese katana, even Western knightly swords.

Of course, there were also bamboo swords and wooden swords.

Yusei went over and first picked up a Western knightly sword, but found it somewhat heavy, so he put it down.

Then he tried some of the other sword-type weapons, but embarrassingly, they were all too heavy for Yusei.

Clearing his throat lightly, Yusei picked up a wooden sword.

This wooden sword was exquisitely carved. Its weight wasn't too heavy nor too light, and it felt very agile to use.

"Alright, this one."

Yusei looked at the old man opposite him.

He wasn't surprised that the other was letting him use a weapon… this was clearly a Kendo dojo.

But no matter the weapon or the method, Yusei was confident his Sharingan could copy any movement.

Unaware of Yusei's thoughts, the kimono-clad old man picked up a similar wooden sword from the side and stood opposite Yusei.

"Here I come."

Without further ado, the kimono-clad old man showed no intention of going easy due to Yusei's youth.

He charged forward holding the wooden sword.

Compared to his elderly appearance, his speed at this moment was astonishing. In an instant, he had closed the distance to Yusei.

"Ryutsuisen!"

Yusei was greatly surprised. The Sharingan could track this speed, but the problem was his body couldn't react in time.

The kimono-clad old man was extremely fast. The wooden sword in his hand was already near Yusei, lifting upwards for a strike.

Thud!

Yusei was sent flying...

The above was the world as seen through the kimono-clad old man's eyes.

Yusei wiped cold sweat from his forehead, watching the old man frozen in an extremely sharp stance, holding the wooden sword, completely motionless.

Just at the last moment, Yusei had no choice but to use the Sharingan to control the other party. Otherwise, what the old man saw in the illusion would have truly happened in the real world.

After a wave of post-fear shock, Yusei was again stunned by the old man's technique.

This swordsmanship was like an unsheathed blade, incredibly sharp.

He had won this fight, but Yusei understood it was thanks to his Sharingan.

If it were someone from this world, very few could likely dodge that move.

Moreover, at least in Yusei's feeling, that one sword strike could even cut through a bullet!

Yusei took a deep look at the old man, his eyes flashing with desire for the swordsmanship he had just witnessed.

Soon, Yusei dispelled the old man's illusion.

Immediately, he saw the kimono-clad old man burst into hearty laughter, stepping forward to help up Yusei, who had been 'knocked down' to the ground.

"How about it? My swordsmanship isn't just for show, is it? Do you want to learn from me?"

"Learn!" Yusei was more than willing to learn and agreed immediately.

"Good!"

The kimono-clad old man was very happy. He clapped his broad hands, placed the wooden sword back to the side, and called a servant.

"I'm happy today! Prepare a banquet to celebrate me taking a disciple!"

The servant acknowledged and left, busy preparing the evening banquet.

The kimono-clad old man turned to look at Yusei, his gaze full of approval.

"Our style is called Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu. It's a style passed down for over a thousand years by our predecessors. Master it, and you can even cut through bullets. Ordinary firearms are useless against a true martial artist."

From his later words, Yusei detected a hint of disdain towards firearms.

'This old man is pretty arrogant,' Yusei thought silently.
