When they arrived, Mark went to Loren's room first, then roamed throughout the house. The servants were surprised by his behavior and the large bag he carried. Meanwhile, Velaxor and Loren walked in the forest.
From the beginning, they had planned to make everyone believe they had harmed themselves, but they hadn't. This was part of phase two. They had prepared cotton mattresses under the entire cliff to prevent injury when they jumped, and painted them green to blend with the trees. Their destination was a nearby hotel .Only Mark knew the plan. After reserving two separate rooms, they went to have lunch at the hotel.
The parents sent search parties to the foot of the cliff. Velaxor could have prepared fake corpses or fake blood but wanted both families to know that they had escaped. He took pleasure in manipulating their emotions, though Mark was fully aware. The next day, Mark visited his friends secretly, updated them on the situation, and asked them to come that night to Loren's family mansion. Loren agreed, trusting his loyalty and unaware of his arrangement with her father.
That evening, she prepared with Velaxor to go. Upon arrival, Mark instructed them to keep a distance from the mansion and hide nearby. Loren's family had come for a visit.
