Chapter 61: WAAAGH!
Millions of missiles swept across the sky in a cascade of fire, their shockwaves radiating outward for thousands of miles. Hundreds of thousands of aircraft filled the air above the planet Veredian.
The officers at the war base and countless members of the fleet watched in awe at the spectacle. This wave was not only devastatingly effective, it was magnificent in scale, a display of overwhelming force.
Before the smoke cleared, gunships descended from the clouds, heavy with Space Marines. Transport craft touched down in rapid succession, disgorging tanks and armored vehicles across the dusty terrain. Legionaries deployed in organized waves, cutting down any scattered Orks caught in the billowing dust.
The greenskins, hammered by millions of missiles, had no time to recover or regroup. For any force to reorganize under such bombardment was nearly impossible.
The Space Marines moved like reapers, cutting through the Orks with relentless precision. Tank and armored vehicle formations struck hard at the tough Ork walkers, their guns raking the makeshift Mek positions behind the lines.
Several figures on the command bridge looked satisfied. All eyes turned to Omega as he calmly issued new orders.
"It's not over yet. Order the air bombardment forces to cover the Space Marines' operations and bombard any hordes of Ork troops!"
He paused, his tactical calculation already three steps ahead.
"Rapidly deploy troops to clear out the Ork forces on half the planet, and establish fortified fortresses for defense."
The commands flowed through the communication channels instantly. Massive numbers of troops descended from orbit, spreading across the landscape. The war base, a mechanical beast that seemed to grow larger with each passing moment, began flooding the planet with soldiers, seizing strategic positions to consolidate control.
Across half of Veredian, hundreds of thousands of aircraft hammered the sky while tens of millions of tanks and transports raced toward the front. The entire massive vessel operated at full capacity.
Pharmacist Russell, studying the planetary simulation data, looked up from his displays.
"Why not launch a full-scale bombardment and cleanup of the entire planet? The tactics the master devised to deal with the Orks are so powerful that the Orks on this planet cannot withstand them!"
"Don't take too big a step," Omega said steadily. "Half a planet is enough."
He understood the calculus before him. Based on Ork aerial attacks, despite their ramshackle equipment, their technological level was no way inferior to that of human civilization. He could bomb other alien civilizations worldwide, but each member of his air force was extremely valuable and could not be treated as expendable.
Even as the dust cleared, millions of Ork troops were already reforming at extraordinary speed. They reorganized and charged toward the Space Marines and Astronaut tank formations, braving missile and aircraft bombardments, pressing forward with unstoppable momentum.
This level of military skill and recovery greatly impressed the Sages and the officers of the Astral Army. Omega's calculations proved sound.
Orks are born to fight. They have virtually no negative emotions and will fight to the death, utterly disregarding casualties.
Although the Titan army was rapidly being deployed onto the battlefield, Omega did not choose to remain in space. Instead, he took the power sword newly forged for him by the Sage and boarded the landing craft to deploy toward the battlefield himself.
Thousands of fiery trails scarred the sky above Veredian, brilliant streaks illuminating the massive engagement below. Hundreds of thousands of green-skinned Orks clashed with human forces across the burning landscape.
Despite the continuous explosions of missiles from the sky, the Orks' offensive against the Space Marines could not be stopped.
The landing pod crashed to the ground with tremendous force, carving a massive crater into the earth. Omega emerged from the billowing smoke and dust clad in sleek power armor, gripping a plasma pistol in one hand and his power sword in the other.
He charged straight out, followed by thousands of Space Marines, forming a fiery spearhead that pressed down on the Ork army.
Under a barrage of fire, Orks fell one after another. Hundreds of Ork Boys formed an assault force and charged toward Omega.
His white jade power sword brimmed with energy, cutting through iron like mud. It sliced through Ork Boys wielding flamethrowers, splitting their bodies in two with swift, precise strokes.
His figure flashed past at lightning speed, and hundreds of Ork Boys seemed to turn into fragments and fall to the blood-soaked ground in an instant, their beast bodies and steel weapons split cleanly in two.
Dozens of Ork walkers emerged, led by a dozen towering war machines standing over ten meters tall and surrounded by thousands of Orks.
These dreadnoughts, moving with a swaying gait but performing well, were like mechanical creatures wrought from steel and salvage.
Behind Omega, the Space Marine captain relentlessly fired at the Ork army, his explosive guns easily killing Orks who weren't wearing heavy armor.
Undeterred by the towering size of the death mech standing over ten meters tall, Omega fired his weapon continuously, charging forward like a sharp spearhead. His power sword pierced straight into the mech's mechanical head. A scream echoed from within.
With a single slash, Omega cleaved through the mech. He leaped into the air, firing his plasma pistol while severing a grabbing Ork's power claw with his sword. He jumped again, severing the head of another death mech in one smooth motion.
Omega's combat power was immense. In less than a minute, all the death mechs fell to the blood-soaked ground. Larger walkers, commanded by the Mek pilots, surrounded Omega and fired machine guns and cannons at him relentlessly.
With superior predictive abilities, Omega evaded heavy artillery shells and tore through the Ork dreadnoughts with brutal efficiency.
As they charged forward, the Space Marines behind them easily dispatched thousands of Ork Boys and Skull Boars, cutting a swathe through the enemy ranks and forming a massive wall of human advance.
Omega stood atop a pile of Ork steel wreckage, sword in hand, and could see in the distance a dozen or so thirty-meter-tall Ork war-engines taking shape.
A large number of Ork Mek Boys hauled away the surrounding steel debris, salvaging armor from dead Orks, shattered dreadnoughts, and even missile fragments.
Startled by the speed at which the Orks were constructing these titans on the spot, Omega charged straight through the Ork army.
Countless Ork Boys and Ork leaders who tried to stop him were all killed.
The Alpha warriors around them assisted the Primarch in clearing out the Orks surrounding the construction site, and every now and then, a large number of missiles dropped from the sky and exploded among the hordes of Orks.
The Mechanicus Titan army charged into the Ork forces in organized formations, while the Astronauts' tank army bombarded the Orks from a distance.
Countless explosions filled the air, leaving the surface covered in smoke and shockwaves.
Large numbers of air units and countless missiles continued to bombard the outer skies, repelling the massive Ork reinforcements arriving in waves.
The power sword in his hand had slashed through countless Ork dreadnoughts and Ork war machines, leaving piles of broken metal and scrap scattered across the bloodied terrain.
Tens of thousands of Orks tried to surround and kill Omega, but they fell to his blade. He rushed straight toward the nearly completed thirty-meter-tall Ork war-engine called Gagant.
The pilot inside immediately aimed and fired, swinging his powerful claws at Omega.
Omega easily dodged the shots, leaped onto the swinging power claw, and in a flash rushed to the front of Gagant's mechanical head, which towered thirty meters high.
Omega swung his sword and pierced through the Ork mech's force field defense. No scream was heard. He swung his sword down with all his might, feeling the same resistance as before. He drew his sword and leaped into the air.
While he was still in mid-air, the 30-meter-tall, half-finished Gagant mech in front of him wobbled and fell to the ground with a crash.
With a light touch, he swept away an attacking Ork Boy and crushed an exploding Skull Boar beneath his heel.
A raiding cavalry force of over a thousand Orks riding Skull beasts arrived from nearby, but was cut down by Space Marines' volleys along the way.
Omega easily swung his sword, cutting through the Ork troops blocking his way, and charged directly at a second Ork Gagant war machine, towering over thirty meters tall.
One after another, the Gagants fell to his blade, their massive frames collapsing into twisted scrap. When he destroyed the fourth one, movement erupted across the entire Ork encampment.
A giant Ork emerged from the chaos, a monstrous creature over thirty meters tall. An Ork chieftain controlled this powerful mechanical monster. With each step, the earth trembled as it charged directly toward Omega.
At the same time, the formation of this colossal Gargant caused the hundreds of thousands of Orks present to go wild, their roars shaking the very air.
It was as if all the Ork psychic energy had converged and surged toward the Ork chieftain within this largest and most powerful Gagant.
Under Omega's widening gaze, the aura of the warlord-level Ork titan before him grew increasingly terrifying, radiating a presence that felt utterly inhuman and overwhelming.
