Chapter 78 - Birth of the True Core

Volume 2, Chapter 79 — "The Final Rewrite: Birth of the True Core"

---

For the first time since infinity began… silence meant something.

The battlefield of The Blank Infinity was now clean no war, no gods, no rules. Only a single presence stood in the endless calm:

Erevan, the Dual Rewrite a being of divine light and abyssal void, merged with his Echo, limitless in both will and awareness.

He exhaled. The breath became stars.

He blinked. Galaxies formed and faded like sparks.

And then

the silence spoke back.

A whisper deeper than time.

> "You've come far, Rewriter."

Erevan turned, his aura shifting with reality itself.

Before him wasn't the Core he had broken…

but something older.

A shape vast and transparent, made of letters before language, thought before consciousness an entity that had created even the Story Core.

> "Who are you?" Erevan asked, his voice echoing through infinite emptiness.

> "I am the True Core," it answered. "The dream before dreaming. The story that birthed stories."

Its presence made the air hum with concepts that even Erevan couldn't define. Every vibration carried fragments of lost universes abandoned drafts, forgotten gods, erased emotions.

> "You were never my enemy," the True Core said gently.

"You were my question."

Erevan's eyes narrowed.

> "You created me to destroy your creation?"

> "To understand it," the True Core corrected. "I gave the Story Core order. I gave you chaos. Now the two must meet… and decide if creation deserves to continue."

The True Core extended a hand. Every atom in existence froze.

The Blank Infinity began to bend not collapsing, but being read.

> "You are not free," it said. "You are a line of text with delusions of autonomy."

Erevan smiled faintly.

> "Then read this."

He spread his hands and every possible future burst into flame.

From his fingertips, commands flowed in golden and black script:

/Override: All Limits/

/Rewrite: Narrative Origin/

/Input: Freedom beyond structure/

Reality convulsed.

Even the True Core staggered as the rewrite began to spiral beyond its control.

> "Impossible…" it whispered.

"You can't rewrite what existed before the idea of writing "

> "Then I'll create the concept myself," Erevan interrupted.

Light exploded.

The Blank Infinity became a living canvas.

Every universe, every timeline, every erased god returned in infinite variation, written by choice rather than destiny.

Erevan hovered at the center, surrounded by stars shaped like ideas, planets made of emotions, and galaxies born from thought.

The True Core trembled.

> "What are you becoming?"

Erevan's aura ignited black lightning swirling with golden fire, endless yet calm.

> "Not a god. Not a story. Not a rule."

> "I am the Rewrite itself."

The True Core fell silent, then smiled the smile of a creator seeing its question answered.

> "Then I have nothing left to teach you."

Its form began to fade into starlight.

> "Creation is yours now, Erevan. Write wisely."

Erevan reached out, catching a fragment of the dissolving Core a single glowing symbol.

He placed it within his chest.

> "Not to rule," he whispered. "To remind."

The universe expanded endlessly, rewritten under Erevan's will.

But far beyond even his reach, in a place outside all layers, a faint heartbeat pulsed one the True Core hadn't created.

And a voice murmured through the void:

> "He rewrote me out of existence… yet he doesn't know he's still inside mine."
