Chapter 98 - Baby Beel

— — — — — —

At the class

"Listen, I'm not scared of that teacher. I was just… avoiding unnecessary conflict! Just wait till tomorrow. I promise I'll beat him up!"

"Oh please. You were the first one on your knees. Avoid unnecessary conflict? More like you folded instantly."

Once the delinquents in the classroom confirmed Kazuma had left, they immediately started bragging and roasting each other.

But the next second, all the delinquents froze.

BAM!!

Kazuma kicked the door open—accidentally stomping on two delinquents lying behind it—and walked in without the slightest care, literally stepping over them.

"Step one," he said matter-of-factly to the person behind him, "when you enter, make sure it's dramatic. Kick the door open. Just don't kick it off its hinges."

"Oh, and sometimes there'll be a few delinquents 'randomly spawned' sleeping behind the door. Don't worry about them."

He strode inside while calmly sharing his "teaching experience" with Tohru, who was following him like an eager little student.

"Mhm! Mhm!" Tohru nodded earnestly, listening with full concentration.

'Randomly spawned delinquents my ass!'

'They're not sleeping, you knocked them out!'

'What the hell is he trying to teach!?'

The boys snapped into attention, but inside they were screaming. They thought they were absurd. Turns out they'd met someone far worse.

"Second step," Kazuma continued, "make sure they remember you. Be quick, be precise, and hit just hard enough."

Without warning, he walked up to the guy who earlier claimed he wanted to fight him 1v1——and sent him flying out the door.

Then, in under five seconds, he launched everyone else in the room after him.

Their heads were ringing as they flew. 'Why are we getting beat up this time?Just because we talked smack?'

Okay, to be fair, lesson learned—never talk tough again.

"Alright, the rest is up to you," Kazuma told Tohru. "Five minutes. Throw everyone out. Just don't kill anyone."

"I'll wait outside. Good luck, Tohru-sensei."

He shot her a confident "I believe in you" look and casually vaulted out the window to watch the results from outside.

"Mhm. Easy. Five minutes is plenty," Tohru said brightly.

She warmed up her shoulders, then lowered her stance——and shot forward like a fired bullet.

A literal sonic boom cracked through the hallway. The last remaining window panes shattered instantly.

Every student who tried sneaking out of a classroom? She grabbed them on the way and tossed them out too.

First floor. Second floor. Third floor. In under a minute, the entire building was cleared.

...

Outside the school building—

"Falling like rain… almost majestic, honestly," Kazuma mused, watching bodies dropping from the sky.

"Maybe we should do this every morning. Call it morning exercise."

The unconscious delinquents thudded to the ground one after another. To Kazuma, this looked like a great routine.

"Kazuma-sensei… please… we're begging you… no more…"

Those still conscious crawled up and immediately knelt, tears streaming.

A rare event hurting this badly was already unlucky. If it became a daily routine, they'd rather be killed outright.

"You kids really lack exercise… Fine, fine. Once every three days then, just to keep you stretched out."

Kazuma sighed at the sight of his adorable students weeping. He wasn't a demon after all. Daily was too harsh—every three days? Much kinder. He was practically a saint.

"Every three days…? H-He's a demon! A real devil!!"

"So vicious! So cruel! Doesn't see people as people!"

"Why did I even become a delinquent…? Mom, I wanna go home…"

They burst into wailing regret. Their life choices had officially come back to destroy them.

Tohru finally stepped out of the building.

"Great job, Tohru-sensei!" Kazuma gave her a thumbs-up. One minute, no casualties—perfect.

"Hehehe… it was okay. The hardest part was notkilling them. If I didn't hold back, I could've done it faster."

Tohru looked embarrassed. It was her first time fighting something so fragile, so she had to slow down.

"Now for the final step—introductions."

"Kids, listen up. This is our school's new teacher, Tohru-sensei. You didn't know her before, but now you do. Alright, count off!"

"Yes, Kazuma-sensei! Tohru-sensei!!"

After being beaten twice today, they had zero will to resist. All they wanted was to go home and nurse their injuries.

"Kazuma… why are some of them still lying down? Are they… not welcoming me?"

Tohru frowned. Back in the Dragon world, if her father roared, every dragon responded instantly. Here, some people weren't answering roll call—were they disrespecting her?

"No, no. Their bodies are too weak. They passed out. Just let them sleep."

"Alright, time for actual class."

After confirming none were dead, Kazuma waved. "Back to the classroom. Class starts now."

"Yes, Kazuma-sensei!"

They scrambled to comply. Sitting quietly for a whole day was heaven compared to getting launched through windows.

"Wait."

Kazuma suddenly spoke.

Everyone froze. A chill ran down their spines.

'Are we gonna die? If so, please bury our bones by the sea so we can enjoy the ocean forever…'

"From now on, don't call me Kazuma-sensei. Call me Director. I got promoted."

"And don't forget Tohru-sensei. Be sure to greet her properly."

Then: "Huh? Kazuma-sensei, didn't you just arrive today?" one delinquent blurted out without thinking.

"Doesn't matter. There are only two teachers in this whole school. If I want a promotion, I get one. Today I'm the Director. Tomorrow I'll be Principal."

"Yes yes yes—Kazuma-sensei—no, Director—no, Principal! You're absolutely right!"

"That's better. Smart kid. I won't beat you today." Kazuma grinned.

"Principal, Tohru-sensei—we're heading back to class!"

The delinquents instantly adapted, switching to "Principal" without hesitation. Anything to avoid another beatdown. Honestly, if he asked them to call him Dad, they'd do it.

As Kazuma and Tohru prepared to re-enter the building, the actual principal stood in the corner… quietly crying.

He thought he could at least enjoy a few days as principal. Didn't expect to be overthrown in a single afternoon.

Not that he had any real authority anyway…Still hurt though.

"Kazuma, who was that old man at the door?" Tohru asked.

"Oh, the former principal. Now he trims weeds. Not important, don't mind him."

Only after Tohru brought it up did Kazuma remember the principal was still alive. Honestly, the old guy was impressive in his own way. He was the principal, yet people constantly forgot he existed. Zero presence.

Soon enough, the end of the school day arrived.

"School's out! Finally!"

"We survived! We're actually alive!"

"Oh my god, I lived through today!"

The delinquents burst into tears the moment they stepped outside. Not tears of sorrow, but the pure ecstasy of survival. They had never realized how beautiful "school is over" could sound.

"Even though we survived… a lot of our brothers didn't."

"Based on rough calculations, just today, half of the entire school's first, second, and third years combined got sent to the hospital. They were warriors. Let us mourn them for three seconds."

The delinquents bowed their heads. Just one day, and half of Ishiyama High's elite delinquents and upper-tier troublemakers were hospitalized.

It was a humiliation the school had never experienced. If the other schools heard about this, how would they ever hold their heads up again?

"Tomorrow the big bosses and monsters who went out to fight other schools will be back. They'll definitely take down that damn teacher!"

"You mean the new principal."

"The hell are you saying? Calling him 'principal' earlier was just for survival. School's over now, you still calling him principal? You planning to defect? Beat him!"

They surrounded the boy and stomped him, but froze the next second. Kazuma had appeared in front of them.

"So go on. Keep talking. I'm listening. Make it good."

Kazuma had only come out to buy food, but ran straight into this scene. Looks like this kid still hadn't been beaten enough.

"Sensei—no, Principal—sir, I was just joking!"

"Joking? Sounds like you want a hospital bed. I'll send you there myself."

Kazuma punched him straight into the ground and knocked him out instantly. Ishiyama students really were tanky. Hard to kill. Great punching bags. Very satisfying.

After dealing with the small nuisance, Kazuma headed to a nearby store, grabbed something to eat, and returned.

He didn't have a house in this world, and couldn't be bothered renting a place or staying in a hotel. So he'd simply claimed a classroom as his home. Throw a bed in later and he'd be set.

But on the way back, he passed a river… and a middle-aged man floated by.

Kazuma stared at the man drifting in front of him, expression flat, then turned to leave. If it were a beautiful girl floating by, maybe he'd check it out. But a grown man? He wasn't touching that.

"Oh mighty, terrifying boy who treats humans as nothing," the man suddenly said, climbing out of the river like some kind of river deity. "Did you drop this adorable baby? This green-haired baby?"

He held up a tiny green-haired infant.

"Get lost."

Kazuma kicked the man back into the river. River god, my ass. At least real ones offered gold and silver axes. What was he supposed to do with babies? He didn't want to be a dad.

"Ba-baba! Da-dada!"

The baby fell to the ground, rolled smoothly, and landed safely. Then he crawled straight to Kazuma, grabbed his leg, and stared up with sparkling eyes.

"Let go. I'm not your dad. Go cling to someone else."

Kazuma picked up the baby and finally recognized him: the little demon baby from Beelzebub, the Demon King's youngest son. Beel… something.

Well... Baby Beel. Demon names were always absurdly long anyway.

(A/N: Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV)

"Waaahhhhh!"

Baby Beel burst into tears as Kazuma walked away, lightning crackling around him.

He was still a baby, but he was a Demon King's kid. He was born with ridiculous power.

"So you're attacking me now? Cry one more time and I won't go easy on you."

Kazuma brushed aside the lightning like dust and grabbed Beel by the head, his expression saying clearly, 'cry again and I'll smack your ass.'

"Hahaha!"

Beel suddenly lit up with joy. Unlike normal babies, he loved danger. The more terrifying and powerful someone felt, the more he adored them.

Truly a demon.

"What a hassle. Go away. Don't follow me."

Kazuma tossed him aside and started walking off again. Every step he took, Beel crawled after him a little. Step. Crawl. Step. Crawl.

Clearly the baby sensed he was strong and wanted to stick to him.

"You little brat."

Kazuma sighed, walked back, picked him up, and poked his chubby cheek.

"You wanna follow me? At least call me something. If you call me father once, I'll take you."

"Da..da! Ba...ba! Ba..ba..ba!"

Beel looked up and shouted happily. The sounds shifted from nonsense to something remarkably close to "Papa."

"Ok. You can come with me for now."

"When you're older, I'll take you to the Demon World to beat up the Demon Lord, and I'll rule through you like an emperor. Hahahaha... I'll unify the Demon World. Fairy Tail's name will echo across all worlds."

Carrying Beel under one arm, he walked back. Picking up stray children was basically Fairy Tail's guild tradition anyway. Half the guild had been adopted by Makarov or someone else.

Honestly, if you didn't bring home a kid or two, you didn't fit in.

"Ba-babaaa!"

Beel wriggled with happiness, blissfully unaware a rebellion crown had already been placed on his tiny head.

---

Back at the school—

"Yeah, and that's what happened. I just picked him up," Kazuma explained to Tohru. "He's not my secret love child. Just something I found on the way."

"Demons do seem to have that habit," Tohru said. "They're drawn to the strong, the scary, and the dangerous. Kids who grow up with such people become powerful demons themselves."

She pinched Beel's chubby cheek. "So this little guy really becomes a terrifying Demon Lord someday?"

Soft and squishy as he was, it was hard to imagine. Then again, she'd been adorable as a child too, and look how strong she was now.

"With a husband and a child, this really feels like starting a whole new life," Tohru murmured. "I'm actually excited for the future."

She immediately started teaching Beel to call her Mom, tail wagging happily. Beel also liked her a lot, mostly because she was strong.

...

Meanwhile, Beel's demon maid, Hilda, had also arrived in the human world, following the traces of Beel's magic…
