The previous day, before the duel against Aster, Ryoken had decided to pull for cards randomly, because he had a lot of gems stocked.
At first gathering them was a draining and tike taking task, but as time passed, during the years he lived in this world showed how easy it actually was to gain gems.
Thanks to the rewards he gained from the system, he could be considered to be Yu-Gi-Oh's Bruce Wayne.
Yet he kept stacking the rewards he gained and only used them whenever it was necessary.
After an important rule of getting rich is saving money not spending it. That matter aside, the reason he was pulling today was that he saw a new limited banner, one with new supports for Hero cards.
The latest support card he saw for the Hero archetype was the addition of new Evil Heroes such as Evil Hero Lord Neos.
But now, there were new supports for masked Heroes. In a way it really couldn't be considered new, since he remembered them from his previous life, sadly they weren't available in the master duel yet, so he forgot about them.
Masked HERO Atomic, Masked HERO Furnace and Masked HERO Dusk Crow.
(A/N: Is it only me or does Masked Hero Furnace look like one of playmakers Code-talker monsters?)
These were the three news cards that he saw and obviously pulled for them. he managed to secure all three and add them to his deck all for a low price of 3K gems.
Back to the current time, he was thinking on which deck to use. A Masked Hero deck or an Evil Hero deck.
Using either of them granted his victory over Aster, yet he was wondering which one will be more fun to use.
Being the person he was, he mixed both decks and removed a few cards to make it balanced, before putting his deck in his duel disk.
Aster had waited for him patiently and didn't interrupt him. If Ryoken was building his deck in front of him, it only meant that he was taking him as a real opponent and thus was planning to use all his strength.
As both Duelists got ready, they raised their duel disks and began the duel.
"DUEL!"

"I'll go first. I activate Masked HERO Furnace's effect from my hand. I can reveal it from my hand and add 1 (Mask Change) or (Polymerization) from my Deck to my hand, then I discard 1 card. I add Mask change and send Furnace to the graveyard."
Upon hearing the term Masked Hero, Aster's attention was all on Ryoken, eager to see the new Heroes. His father was a card maker and still was, and had told him he was working on a new archetype of Heroes known as Vision Heroes.
Yet Ryoken had shown him new Heroes that he didn't know existed. For a Hero fanatic like him, this was an important matter.
"Next, I summon Elemental Hero Blazeman in the attack position!"

"When summoned I can add a Polymerization to my hand. I then activate the Polymerization in my hand to fuse The Blazeman on my field with Elemental Hero Stratos in my hand!"
"Two Heros combine to create a mighty Hero! Rise, Hero who is as bright as the sun! Fusion summon! Level 7, Elemental Hero Sunrise!"

Aster shielded his eyes as E-Hero Sunrise appeared on the field, its figure casting a radiant light around the field.
"Sunrise effect activates, when summoned I can add Miracle fusion from my deck to my hand! He also gains 200 Attack points for each monster with a different attribute I control."
Elemental Hero Sunrise 2500 + 200 -> 2700ATK
'Here it comes..' Aster thought, knowing that Ryoken was about to conduct another fusion summon.
But contrary to what he was thinking, Ryoken set two cards face down and ended his turn.
Turn 2
Draw Phase
"I draw!" Aster said calmly as he drew with vigor.

"I activate the spell card Destiny Draw, I discard Destiny Hero - Dreamer to draw 2 cards."
"Then I activate D-spirit from my hand, if I don't control any Destiny Hero monster on my field, I can special summon one from my hand. Appear Destiny Hero DrillDark."

"When DrillDark is summoned, I can special summon a Destiny Hero from my hand that has lower or equal attack points to this card. I summon Destiny HERO - Drawhand."

"When Drawhand is special summoned through the effect of a Destiny Hero, both players Draw one card."
"I activate the field spell, Dark City!"
The area around both of them began to shift and morph into a City engulfed by Darkness.
"Battle phase, Destiny Hero DrillDark attacks your Sunrise!"
"But DrillDark's attack points are lower than Sunrise, did he not pay attention to its attack points?" Chazz said, as he watched the duel.
"And that's why you're a third rate duelist. That field spell he used must have an effect." Akiza remarked, much to Chazz's annoyance.
"When a Destiny Hero I control battles a monster with higher attack points, it gains 1000 extra attack points!"
Destiny Hero DrillDark 1600 + 1000 -> 2600
"Which still is not enough." Ryoken stated calmly, feeling no pressure.
"Which is why I activate Destiny Hero Blademaster effect, by discarding ity Destiny Heroes gain 800 attack points!"
Destiny Hero DrillDark 2600 + 800 -> 3400ATK
Destiny Hero Drawhand 1400 + 800 -> 2200ATK
DrillDark empowered by all the boost he gained, used his drill looking band and destroyed Sunrise.
Ryoken LP: 4000 - 900 -> 3100
"Set card activate, Hero signal. When a monster I control is destroyed by battle, I can special summon a level 4 or lower Elemental Hero from my deck, Appear Shadow mist!"

"When Shadow mist is special summoned, I can add a 'Mask change' spell card to my hand."
"Drawhand attack Ryoken's Shadow mist!"
"Not so fast, I activate my set card, the quick-play spell card Mask change! I send Shadow mist to the graveyard to special summon a Masked Hero with a similar attribute from my extra deck!"
"What!?"
It wasn't just Aster, Others who were watching the duel were astonished too.
Usually to summon a fusion monster one needs two fusion materials. The whole name of the summoning method also hinted that there needed to be a combination of two things at least.
But now Ryoken was showing them that it wasn't necessary to do that.
A mask appeared In front of Shadow mist, who took it and placed it on her face, making a bright light engulf her.
"The Hero that sets the Rules and punishes those who break it, appear and bring fourth judgement! Level 6! Masked Hero Dark law!"

Gone the light and the Hero that was before, now stood in its place a Hero with an edgy yet cool design.
Aster couldn't help but admire the new Hero monster in his mind, taking note to tell his father about them.
"When Shadow mist is sent to the graveyard I can add a Hero monster from my deck to my hand."
Ryoken added the card and waited for Aster to Continue his battle phase.
Seeing there was no use in attacking the new Hero since both Dark law and Drawhand had the same attack points, Aster decided to stop his advance.
"I set a card and end my turn."
Turn 3

Ryoken drew his card without saying anything.

"I activate Polymerization to Fuse Liquid soldier and Stratos! Fusion summon!"
"Two heroes united to call a Hero that makes the temperature drop! Appear and freeze everything! Fusion summon! Level 8, Elemental Hero Absolute Zero!"

"When I summon a non-fire attribute fusion monster, I can special summon Masked HERO Furnace from my graveyard!"

"I activate Miracle Fusi-" Before Ryoken could continue, Aster cut him off.
"Counter trap card activate! Magic Jammer! I Discard the last card in my hand to negate the activation of your mask change!"
Ryoken's spell card was stunned before it was send to the graveyard, yet he didn't seemed phased by it. He just smiled, as if approving of Aster's move.
"Battle phase, Absolute Zero attack DrillDark."
"I activate Destiny Hero Dreamer's effect from the graveyard, if my monster is targeted for an attack, I can special summon this card, also I won't be taking any damage from this battle and monster isn't destroyed!"
Dreamer appeared Infront of Aster, absorbing all the damage that was going to go to him.
"Not bad, but I still have one more monster. Dark Law attack Drawhand."

"I set 2 cards face down and end my turn."
Turn 4
Draw Phase
Aster released the breath he was holding as he saw the card he drew, making him smile for a moment.

"I activate pot of greed and draw 2 cards!"
'He has a pot of greed too, did it get popular because I use it regularly?' Ryoken thought to himself.
No matter who he dueled, they had put on a pot of greed in their deck, seemingly to copy him as it was one of few cards that he used which had a replica.
"I activate The spell card, Fusion Destiny! I can fusion summon a Destiny Hero by using monsters from my hand and Deck! I Fuse Destiny Hero Departed and Destiny Hero Dynatag from my deck!"
"Two heroes walk the path of destiny together to Reach the end! The Hero that is a threat to Evil, appear! Fusion summon! Level 6! Destiny Hero Dangerous!"

"A fusion summon using monsters from deck?" Zane muttered, interested by the cards effect.
It was similar to his own Future fusion, but without the cost of waiting 2 turns till its effect can take place.
"I'm not done yet. I activate Polymerization to fuse Dreamer and DrillDark on my field!"
"Two heroes drilling the bedrock of destiny. Now become one and reign in the pitch-black future! Fusion Summon! Level 8! Destiny HERO - Dystopia!"
Destiny Hero Dystopia 2800ATK/2400DEF
"Two fusion summons in one turn, Impressive." Akaba said to no one as he noted down Aster's name as one of candidates to be a commander for his army.
"I activate Dystopia's effect, I choose a level 4 or lower Destiny Hero in my graveyard, and you take damage equal to its attack points! I choose DrillDark!"
The spirit of Drilldark appeared, before rushing to Ryoken and hitting him with his drill.
Ryoken LP: 3100 - 1600 -> 1500
"I activate Destiny Hero Departed in my graveyard, I can special summon it to your field. I summon it in attack position."
Destiny Hero Departed 1000ATK/0DEF
"I then activate Destiny Hero Dynatag effect from my graveyard. By Banishing it, one Destiny Hero on my field gains 1000 attack points. I chose Dystopia."

"When Dystopia's attack points is different from its original, I can return it to normal the. destroy one monster on your field, Say goodbye to your Dark law!"
Destiny Hero Dystopia 3800 -> 2800ATK
"Battle Phase, Dystopia attacks Destiny Hero Departed on your field! End this duel!"
As the battle concluded and Dystopia destroyed Departed, an explosion happened, making everyone shield themselves from the impact.
Did Ryoken really lose?
Was on everyone's mind. It was hard to imagine, but maybe the unbeatable Champion of Academia could also lose in a duel.
"There's no announcement or notifications from the Duel disk, So Ryoken is still in the duel." Akiza said, not phased by whatever had happened in the arena.
She knew Ryoken wouldn't lose a duel like this, especially when he had two set cards.
As the dust was cleared, Ryoken was standing where he was completely fine, beside him the image of a card was seen.
Ryoken LP: 700
"Trap card Elemental Charge. For each Elemental Hero in my field I gain 1000 Life points."
"Tch... Guess it isn't that easy. Destiny Hero Dangerous attacks Elemental Hero Absolute Zero! Thanks to Dark City effect, my monster gains 1000 attack points!"
Destiny Hero Dangerous 2000 + 1000 -> 3000ATK
Ryoken LP: 700 - 500 -> 200
"I activate my second set card, Change of Hero - Reflector Ray! When an Elemental Hero I control is destroyed by battle, My opponent takes 300 damage per each level it had! You take 2400 points of damage!"
Aster LP: 3100 - 2400 -> 700
"Also When Absolute Zero is destroyed, All monsters on the field are destroyed!"
"What!?" Aster exclamaied, as he watched both of his monsters destroyed by the effect.
"When I dont control any cards, I can Banish Destiny Hero Celestial from my graveyard and another Destiny Hero to draw 2 cards, I Banish Dangerous."
He added the two cards to his hand and set them before ending his turn.
Turn 5
Draw Phase
Ryoken looked at his deck intently. He needed to draw a card that could change the duel, or else he would lose.
"What's wrong? Scared of drawing?" Aster asked, making Ryoken chuckle.
"Not really because I know I can draw the card I want even if the chance is one in million."
"Is that so... Well then go on and show me."
Ryoken put his hand on his deck, and felt the power of supreme king through his body, helping him to get the card he wanted.
'Thanks buddy but I dont need it now. I can do it without it.'
The power stopped flowing in him and disappeared.
Throughout the duel he could have used his spirits power, the supreme kings power. He even met the condition to use the Barian's Chaos draw.
Yet he didn't want to use any of them. Not because he wasn't in a rough situation, but because he believed in his own abilities.
The opponent Infront of him was just a human like him. Sure if the duel was about life and death, he would have used it, but if he used it for a simple duel like this, he would feel disappointed in himself.
"Let's go, I draw!" He drew the card and his lip curved upward a bit.
Akiza saw it, and sighed in relief, knowing that Ryoken had already won the duel.

"Set card activate, call of the haunted. I return Dystopia to my field!" Aster said whilst activating his set card.

Ryoken looked at the Hero, before asking Aster "Hey Aster, what do you like about Heroes?"
Aster thought about it for a moment, before looking away in embarrassment as he answered.
"They're cool and striking in appearance. More importantly they are a gift from my father."
Ryoken chuckled but didn't ridicule his answer.
"That's a good answer. But for me it isn't the appearance or a gift from someone, rather it's the meaning of a Hero itself."
"A Hero is the embodiment of Hope for those who believe in them. Give them a chance, and they will use it to protect that hope."
He stopped briefly, looking at the card in his hand before continuing "And it is true in Dueling too. As long as they have a small chance, they can always change the result and make a comeback against all the odds. That's what a Hero does right?"
"I activate the spell card, A Hero Lives! If I don't control any monster on my field, By paying half of my life points I can special summon a Hero monster from my deck to the field. Appear, Elemental Hero bubbleman!"

"Bubbleman's effect activates! When he's special summoned and I don't control any other card in my field and hand, I can draw 2 cards!"
"Then I activate Pot of Greed!"
As he drew the cards, he couldn't help but remember the scene where Jaden also made a comeback by summoning bubbleman.
Bubbleman was the clutch Hero, always coming in the moment you're desperate cards to help you make a comeback.
(A/N: Fun fact, This actually happened to me whilst I was dueling my friend. He used Dark magician deck and I used Hero deck. Long story short, Drew bubbleman and started my comeback from there, winning the duel.)
"I activate the spell card, Evil Assault! I discard 1 card then I can add 1 Level 4 or lower (Evil HERO) monster from my Deck and either add it to my hand or Special Summon it! I discard Evil Hero sinister necrom and special summon Evil Hero Dead end Prison!"

"Evil Heroes?" Aster questioned. How could there be a Hero that was Evil? How could such a concept even work?
"Then I activate Sinister necrom effect from the graveyard, I can banish it to special summon an Evil Hero from my deck or hand, Appear, Evil Hero Vicious Claws!"

"I play the last card in my hand, Dark Fusion! I fuse Vicious Claws and Dead-end Prison!"
"Two Heroes shrouded by Evil embrace the Darkness in their hearts! Rise, the most malicious Hero that world has witnessed! Fusion summon! Level 8, Evil Malicious Bane!"

"I activatey set card, D-Tactics. Destiny Heroes on my field gain 400attack points!"
Destiny Hero Dystopia 2800 + 400 +> 3200
"Dystopia effect activates, I return it's attack points to normal and destroy your Malicious Bane!"
Dystopia drove his fist forward, striking Malicious Bane. But Malicious Bane didn't budge and stood proudly, looking down at Dystopia.
"Malicious Bane cannot be destroyed by battle and card effects, so your cards effect is pointless."
"Now Witness the power of my Hero. I activate Malicious Bane's effect. All monsters with lower or equal attack points to this card are destroyed and it gains 200 attack points for each one that is destroyed! Malicious Aura!"
In a glance of an eye, Dystopia was destroyed by Malicious Bane's Aura, leaving Aster's field empty.
Evil Hero Malicious Bane 3000 + 200 -> 3200ATK
"Malicious Bane, End this duel and attack Aster Directly! Malicious Charge!"
