Yuto woke up the next morning feeling a lot more rejuvenated than he normally did. While he still had distinct bags under his eyes, he had a lot more energy. He slipped from under the covers and slid on his house slippers. It was currently 3 am, and he needed to finish his medical trainee application. He would use his extra two hours of study time to indulge in the art of sealing. He had been holding it off, focusing on pursuing his medical studies as he figured it would be more beneficial in the long run. While seals are very practical, they take years of study and research to reach a level where they can actually be battle-ready. For example, during the Nine-Tails attack, Minato placed a contract seal on Obito with a single touch.
This kind of seal application took years of experience. Applying a seal with your chakra alone requires you to understand the seal format; the array that spreads out when the seal is applied contains chakra units. These chakra units act as a converter. This converts the object, place, or being based on the array. Sealing arrays can be altered for different purposes by either changing the kanji in the array or changing the amount of chakra units. The art is difficult to understand because it requires you to be able to solve chakra unit equations, along with understanding the purposes of each kanji and how they align to make a functioning seal. And this is just the simplified version.
Yuto let out a sigh, seeing the formula on the chakra unit conversion chart and the twenty-step equations along with kanji variations. This is why the art is rare, because you can only learn effectively by learning under a master. Discerning the amount of chakra units that can be converted into a single kanji, while simultaneously arranging said kanji into a sealing array, is impossible without perfect chakra control and in-depth understanding of each unit's function and each kanji, or you'll end up exploding the seal from chakra overload.
After his four-hour study session, he barely learned anything. he let out a sigh, deciding he needed to make a few stops. He needed a fuma shuriken and some more shuriken. It was about time that he got some more ninja tools, as his team would be going on a mission soon. He didn't want to be restricted to kunai and shuriken, so when he found out his father had left his blade to him, he was ecstatic. But he also wanted to master his shuriken and fuma shuriken jutsu as well. He planned to study his grade two spitball ninjutsu. He hoped to compress the spitball into a concentrated jet of liquid. If he could do that without hand seals, it would become a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. In his previous world, waterjets could cut through metals like steel, titanium, and aluminum. He needed to study his water nature, unable to gain control over the spit in his mouth, because right now, all he was actually doing was spitting at higher speeds with the use of chakra and changing its shape with his lips. he had no knowledge about chakra transformation, chakra shape manipulation, or chakra natures. He was hoping his grandfather would give him a useful jutsu, because he didn't wait all this time for nothing.
He got up from his small study table in his room and went to the bathroom to wash up. When he was finally ready, he walked out with his same shinobi combat attire. he made his way towards the Higarashi weapons shop as he walked down the busy shopping district, but ended up running into the purple-haired Konowichi he had met the previous day. he sighed, noticing that she recognized him and was now walking in his direction. She skipped towards him, her assets bouncing as she did, forcing a frown on Yuto's face. He was honestly a bit put off by how shameless Anko was, being a romantic.
"Hey brat, did you miss me?" Anko said with a grin.
Yuto sighed. "Snake lady," he greeted tiredly.
"Aww, kid, don't be like that. Geeze, kid, you look like shit. You sure could use some coffee," Anko said.
"I could use some weed if I'm being honest," Yuto said with a yawn.
"Mmm, that stuff the Sarutobi clan are always smoking," she asked.
Yuto raised an eyebrow at that. "lord third?"
She nodded. "I don't see what's so special about it," she said.
"You wouldn't happen to know where I can get my hands on some?" Yuto asked.
"Beats me," she said with a shrug of her shoulders.
Yuto sighed. "Well, I have a few errands to run, see ya," Yuto said before walking off with a casual wave over his shoulder.
"he should be worried about getting enough sleep," Anko thought.
Yuto finally made it to the higarashi weapon shop, as he was greeted by the man at the counter.
"Ahh, yuto. Has the blade been damaged?" he asked.
Yuto shook his head. "I actually came to you for something else," he was about to explain, but was cut off by a mop of brown hair slamming into him. He fell back on the ground, looking at what had knocked him over. There was ten-ten on top of him, a cheerful smile on her face.
"Yuto senpai," she squealed.
"You're not in the academy yet, so technically I'm not your superior," he said with a smile.
She frowned at that, crossing her arms, pouting while on top of him.
"Can I get up?" Yuto asked with a wince.
"Oh," Ten-ten said, looking down sheepishly, a small tinge of red gracing her cheeks.
She got up, letting him get off the ground. Yuto remembered what he was about to do.
"Oh yes, I forgot. I'm looking for a large fuma shuriken and the standard set of kunai and shuriken," Yuto said.
"Anything else?" the store owner asked.
"Would you happen to have some empty scrolls? I'm beginning my studies in the sealing art," Yuto said.
"We have fuma shurikens to your right, and the standard set is to your left. I'll grab those scrolls for you," he said.
Yuto nodded and grabbed the tools, placing them on the counter. He looked down, seeing ten-ten looking at him with a questioning look.
"Why do you need so many tools?" she asked.
"Hum, well, I have a dangerous mission in a few days," he said.
Ten-Ten's face became a bit worried as she was aware of the dangers of being a shinobi. Yuto noticed this and quickly reassured her.
"Don't worry, I won't be dying. I promise, pinky swear," he said, putting his pinky finger out.
She locked her finger with his, but was still a bit worried. A voice came from the back.
"Here are your scrolls," said the store owner.
Yuto nodded, giving his signature on the bill. He pulled out a sealing scroll, sealing the weapons and scrolls into it and sliding it into his ninja pouch.
"All right, see ya," Yuto said.
"Wait, yuto senpai," said Ten-ten
"Mmm, what is it?" he asked.
"Can you teach me that jutsu?" she asked.
"jutsu? Oh, the sealing technique," he said.
Ten-ten nodded.
Yuto looked at the store owner, seeing that he was her father.
Ten-Ten looked at her father with puppy dog eyes.
The man sighed before relenting. "Fine, but she should be back before curfew," he said sternly.
"Yes, of course," Yuto said.
Ten-ten jumped in joy, hearing she could leave with Yuto for the day.
They left, ten-ten waving back at her father with a smile.
Yuto walked down the streets as ten-ten was slung around his shoulder. He ran into Anko again, as she had a dango stick in her hand.
Yuto shuddered seeing Anko, as he didn't want Ten-Ten picking up on Anko's tendencies. just as he thought that ten-ten's eyes became stars, seeing the figure of Anko walking towards them.
"Funny, seeing you again. Is this the so-called errand you were talking about?" Anko said.
"Um, sure. You can say that" he said uncertainly.
"Yuto senpai, is this your...," ten-ten asked, putting up a pinky.
"No, that's not the case, just a friend," he said.
"Yeah, short stuff here, wouldn't know what to do with a woman like me," Anko said boastfully.
"Yeah, what she said," Yuto said with a sigh.
"So what's with the kid, anyway?" Anko asked curiously.
"I'm going to give her some lessons," he said.
"Aren't you a bit young for disciples?" Anko asked.
"Yes, but she had so much potential, I couldn't pass up the opportunity," he said.
Anko gave ten-ten a look over and shrugged her shoulders. "Well, see ya, brat. Got lunch with Kurenai," she said before darting off.
After Anko left, ten-ten spoke. "She's pretty," she said, fangirling.
"Yes, though I wish she wouldn't wear such clothes," Yuto responded.
"I like them," ten-ten retorted.
Yuto sighed at that, as this was the last thing he wanted. One anko was enough. "Of course you do," he said.
They went to training grounds 13, as Yuto knew his team wouldn't be there at this time.
They stood in the large terrain surrounded by trees as Yuto pulled out a few scrolls.
"Okay, first, have you awakened your chakra, and do you have control over it?" Yuto asked.
"I've awakened my chakra, but I don't know how good my control is," she said, unsurly.
"That's fine," he said, picking up a leaf from the ground. "Here, I'm sure your father has already taught you the leaf exercise," he said.
Ten-ten gave a nod, grabbing the leaf and sticking it to her forehead.
After a few minutes, she lost control of the leaf, and it fell off her forehead and descended to the ground.
"Mmm, your control is good, but your chakra reserves are low. But this is to be expected, seeing your chakra reserves are still developing," Yuto said.
Ten-ten frowned, hearing this.
"Don't worry, it will grow with time," Yuto said. He realized how he sounded like his grandfather when he lectured him, as he let out a chuckle at that.
Ten-ten frowned, feeling like she was being laughed at.
"No, I'm not laughing at you," he said, laughing again.
Ten-ten didn't believe him, crossing her arms and pouting.
later...
Anko was at lunch with Kurenai, as they both sipped some coffee. At the time, Kurinai was a chunin just like Anko.
"Yeah, that brat really is something. He just became a genin a few days ago and is already taking on students. Hell, even Gemma took a liking to the brat and gave him a position on his Chunin team," Anko said.
"Yeah, he's quite something. If I'm not mistaken, he's the grandson of Tengi Suzuki, a respected jonin in the village," Kurenai said calmly.
"Yeah, I don't like that stuck-up old man anyway," Anko said.
"Yes, but he's a very skilled kinjutsu and windstyle ninjutsu practitioner; he's no slouch," Kurenai said.
Anko sighed. "Yeah, I still don't like him," she said childishly.
"Why is everyone talking about this brat anyway. He only graduated a year early," Kurenai asked, confused by the sudden popularity.
"Well, rumor has it that one of the higher-ups from the Uchiha clan spoke very highly of him," Anko said matter-of-factly.
Kurenai was a bit surprised by that, as the Uchiha clan was not only one of the co-founders of the village, but they were a prestigious clan with great pride and rarely dished out praise to those outside of their clan.
"The Uchiha clan!" Kurenai said.
"Yeah, and he's been seen around the village with the Uchiha clan's prodigy, Itachi Uchiha," Anko added.
"smart kid. With the favor of the Uchiha clan, his grandfather, and he's already molding his disciple. It looks like he's trying to build his resume. He'd be taking high-level missions on a chunin team as a genin. He'll get a field promotion within the next two years," Kurenai said, impressed.
"Well, it sucks for him that Gemma will disband the team in a year," Anko said.
"Yeah, but it's still a good opportunity.
They both nodded.
with Yuto. Yuto was in the training field with Ten-Ten, showing her the contents of a basic sealing scroll. He explained everything to the best of his abilities, as he wasn't sure if a five-year-old would be able to understand the complexity. He couldn't teach her how to make seals because he himself couldn't make seals, but he could show her how to operate a pre-existing one. He rolled up the scroll as he had shown her all he could in the short amount of time he had before his team training.
"Make sure you practice your chakra control exercises; they will be vital to unseal and seal items in the scroll," Yuto said.
"Hi, Yuto senpai," ten-ten said with a nod.
"You know, you can call me big brother," Yuto said, chuckling.
"But, Yuto senpai, if I become your sister, then I won't be able to marry you," she said innocently.
Yuto was taken aback by that, as he wasn't expecting her to say something like that. But he realized she was just a child, and she didn't fully understand what she was proposing.
He let out a sheepish chuckle, "Look, tell you what, if you achieve the rank of jonin before fifteen, just like me, I'll make you my wife," Yuto said.
In the original story, Ten-Ten didn't become a jonin until after the Fourth Great Ninja War, so Yuto wasn't concerned about his promise, plus Ten-Ten probably wouldn't remember this anyways.
"But, Yuto senpai, you haven't become a jonin yet," she said, confused.
"your right, I haven't yet, but I believe in under five years I can achieve it," Yuto said confidently.
She nodded, "Yuto senpai, can I ask you something?" ten-ten asked.
"Sure, ask away," he said.
"Do you really think I can do it? I mean, become a jonin," she asked timidly.
Yuto was now put in a position where he would have to make sure she became a skilled shinobi because he was the one training her, and anything she did would make him look better. This is proved when the third Hokage's disciples became the legendary sanin. So inevitably, he would have to count on her forgetting about this conversation in a decade.
"I'll make sure of it, remember you'll be my disciple when you graduate," Yuto said with a smile.
Ten-ten perked up at that. Yuto looked at her smiling face before looking up at the sky.
"Marrying a woman five years younger than me, huh? Is this what you have planned for me?" he thought.
