Eden stared at the status screen in front of him as he nodded pridefully.

'Damn, I grew a lot in two days.'

A smile formed on his face as he stood up from the ground.

Dusting his body, Eden began to walk towards the hallway.

The people present in the training ground gave him weird looks, especially Abel.

'Well, Eden rarely visits the training ground.'

Eden knew from his memories that the only time he trained was when his father dragged him outside.

'Not very pleasant memories…..'

Eden let out a sigh as he began to walk down the hallway.

"By the way, Sana." Eden suddenly spoke. "How talented are those 'spiritual daughters'?"

[Do you really wanna know?]

"Well, yes."

[Even the weakest of them is more talented than the most talented mortal.]

Eden paused as something clicked inside his mind.

"….How are they compared to me?" Eden asked softly.

[….You are more talented.]

"...."

Eden silently walked down the hallway, lost in thought.

One thing kept running through his mind. '…Why would the goddesses make me more talented than their own daughters?'

The more Eden thought, the weirder things became.

'…What if I turn against them and kill their daughters instead?'

From what Eden could see, there was nothing stopping him from doing that.

Hell, he was sure there was no protocol if he ever did that.

[Sometimes death is much more beautiful than living.]

Eden frowned upon her words. 'What's that supposed to mean?'

[.....]

Sana turned silent, refusing to elaborate.

Eden let out a sigh as he began to walk again.

Things were already complicated; he didn't want to make them even worse.

'What should I do with the—.'

His train of thought halted as he bumped into someone.

"Ouch." A familiar voice echoed as a girl rubbed her head. "Can't you see where you are going?"

Eden blinked twice, staring at the girl in front of him. She glared up at him like a cat ready to pounce.

"You again," she huffed. "You've been acting strange lately, you know that?"

Eden opened his mouth but closed it again. '…What type of maid talks to her master like this?'

He really wanted to smack the previous Eden for making her like this.

'I can't even tell her to stop; they all are already suspicious of my change in behavior.'

Eden let out a sigh as he accepted his destiny with a sassy maid.

He began to walk, but Lira moved by his side.

"Weren't you going in the opposite direction?" Eden asked.

"I was looking for you." She replied, glancing at him. "Lady Evelynn is looking for you."

Eden slowly nodded as he began to walk towards his mother's room.

"By the way." He spoke, glancing at her. "Why don't you have a better personality?"

Lira turned stoic, and from what Eden knew, she did this to hide her feelings.

"Why?" She spoke. "My current personality doesn't suit you?"

"Suit me?" he repeated. "You talk like we're married or something."

Lira smirked faintly. "I'd rather die."

Eden sighed. "You've got a real talent for ruining conversations."

"And you've got a talent for starting weird ones," she replied without missing a beat.

He gave her a sidelong glance. "You always talk to your master like this?"

"Only when he deserves it," Lira said.

Eden couldn't even argue with that.

From what he remembered, the old Eden probably did deserve it and even asked for it.

Still, she wasn't what he expected from a maid.

Most servants he'd seen in this place acted cautiously.

But not Lira.

She was stubborn, mouthy, and somehow always managed to stand next to him like an equal.

As they walked down the hallway, they eventually reached his mother's chamber.

Lira slowly moved a step back from him, turning into her perfect maid image.

Eden reached his mother's room as he knocked on the door.

"Come in."

Eden opened the door and walked inside.

Evelynn quickly engulfed Eden into her arms.

"How is my baby doing?" She said, gently rubbing his head. "Are you training for the awakening ceremony?"

Eden nodded as he squeezed himself out of her hug.

"….Yes." He spoke. "There are only a few days left."

"We are going to start traveling the day after tomorrow." She spoke, moving inside. "It will take two days to reach the capital city."

Eden followed his mother further into the room, the faint scent of jasmine filling the air.

Evelynn sat gracefully by the edge of her bed, patting the seat beside her. "Sit with me for a while."

Eden hesitated but eventually did as told.

Her presence always carried a mix of warmth and pressure.

She was beautiful, refined, but there was always something dark about her presence.

'Is it just my imagination?'

Eden wondered as Lira walked inside and stood by his side.

Evelynn smiled as she looked at Lira standing there.

"Eden." She spoke. "Do you remember how you and Lira met when you both were children?"

Eden shook his head as he genuinely didn't remember his childhood.

Her smile only grew as she looked at the maid. "Lira must remember it, right?"

"I would rather not talk about it, my lady." Lira said with a straight face. "It's pretty embarrassing."

"Now, I want to hear it." Eden chimed in as he looked at his mother. "Tell me."

"Why don't you remember how you always used to wet your bed, my Lord." Lira said, glancing at him. "Lady Evelynn would much rather talk about that."

Eden froze.

His brain needed a full three seconds to process what she just said.

"…Excuse me?"

Lira's lips twitched — the tiniest, most restrained smirk threatening to appear. "You used to cry every morning because your sheets were wet, my Lord."

"What the—?"

Evelynn chuckled softly, covering her mouth with delicate fingers. "Ah, I do remember those days. You'd always try to blame the poor cat."

"I don't remember that." Eden said with a straight face. "So for me, it never happened."

"Oh, but it's such a fond memory," she said with mock seriousness. "You were adorable when you cried."

Lira snorted quietly, clearly enjoying the entire scene.

Eden exhaled deeply and sat back down, dragging a hand down his face.

"Remind me never to ask about my childhood again."

"I'll remember that," Lira said, her tone way too smug for his liking.

Eden clicked his tongue as he turned to look at his mother.

"…There is something that I have been meaning to ask, m-mother." He spoke gently.

She blinked and smiled. "Sure, tell me."

"Do you know anyone with enormous talent that even the strongest mortal can't hold a candle against them?"

She turned silent as she looked at Eden's face deeply.

[Are you trying to find—]

'The spiritual daughters, yes.'

If the system isn't going to answer, then he can just ask others.

"Hmm." She hummed before nodding. "There was someone like that."

Eden asked quickly. "Who?"

"I don't remember her name." She spoke softly. "But people call her the Death Queen."
