Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Resolution

The Gaio family mansion.

A group of girls lounged in the living room, the atmosphere warm and cozy. Marin and Tohru were engrossed in a video game, while Sakura watched from the sidelines.

Kaguya and Yukino sat in armchairs by the window, each absorbed in their own books.

Fubuki and Rin chatted and laughed, occasionally sipping their drinks.

Saber was devouring a slice of cake, pausing now and then to feed a bite to Kanna, who sat beside her.

The living room buzzed with a sense of comfort and ease.

But that warmth was about to be shattered.

Saber was the first to sense it. As she munched on her cake, her ahoge shot up like an antenna. Her cheeks puffed out, and she lifted her head, confusion giving way to a sharp, piercing gaze.

She stood abruptly, her emerald eyes scanning every corner of the room. Her voice was as cold as winter frost: "There's a malicious presence. It's close."

Marin froze, her expression briefly panicked before she forced herself to stay calm. "Saber, where's the enemy?"

Saber's brow furrowed. "Just outside the mansion. There are many of them… and they carry the power of the jujutsu world."

Tohru's tail shot up, her dragon horns faintly glowing at the tips. A low growl rumbled in her throat. "If they dare touch my family, I'll burn their bones to ash."

Kaguya closed her book, Principles of Economics, and tapped the armrest of her chair. Her tone was calm but carried an undeniable weight. "Fubuki, try contacting Gojo Satoru. Marin, the three of us ordinary folks should hide. Tohru, Kanna, we're counting on you to protect us."

She turned to Rin and Sakura, who were itching to jump into action. "Rin, Sakura, stay with us. Your magic isn't as strong as it was in Fuyuki City. If you rush in, you'll only make things harder for Saber and Tohru."

Her gaze shifted back to Saber, a faint, cold smile tugging at her lips. "Saber, please 'escort' our guests out."

Saber nodded firmly. A golden light flashed around her, and her casual dress transformed into her iconic blue-and-white armored skirt. At her waist hung Excalibur, the Sword of Promised Victory.

"Leave it to me."

---

Outside, in the bushes surrounding the mansion, a dozen men in black tactical gear crouched low, clutching weapons wrapped in cursed talismans.

The leader, a man with a scar across his face, stared at the mansion's front gate. He spoke into his radio, voice hushed: "Lord Kazumasa, the defenses inside seem stronger than we expected."

"It doesn't matter," Kazumasa's voice crackled through the radio. "Complete the mission. Capture any one of those girls, and no matter how powerful Gaio is, he'll have to kneel before me."

The scar-faced man gritted his teeth and signaled his team to move.

In an instant, several specialized cursed smoke bombs crashed into the courtyard, spewing thick, choking gray mist. The men vaulted over the walls, their cursed tools glowing with eerie blue light—binding ropes, sealing nets, and cursed weapons.

"Saber!" Tohru's dragon horns flared red, her tail whipping with a loud crack. "Three on the left!"

Saber was already in a battle stance, the gold trim on her blue-and-white armor glinting coldly. Excalibur's blade caught the moonlight filtering through the smoke.

She launched forward, her sword slicing through the air with precision. Clang! A binding rope was severed, its ends smoldering. "Trying to harm my family?" Her voice was like ice. She swung again, tearing a gash through another man's tactical vest. "You'll learn the cost of defying a king!"

"Use the sealing net!" the scar-faced man shouted from behind a tree, hurling a black net laced with cursed talismans. "It can suppress cursed energy—even a dragon can't escape it!"

Tohru snorted, her dragon tail lashing the ground, kicking up a gust that sent the net veering off course. She opened her mouth, and a torrent of crimson dragonfire roared toward the intruders. The flames, infused with magical energy, overwhelmed their cursed tools, leaving several men writhing in agony as the fire scorched their flesh.

"Kanna, stay behind me!" Tohru's tail curled protectively around the little dragon.

Kanna clenched her tiny fists, her eyes blazing. She hurled a small fireball that exploded near one man's feet, making him stumble and curse. "Don't bully my sisters!" she roared in her adorable, high-pitched voice, her dragon horns glowing brighter.

Fubuki sat calmly in the living room, her fingers flying across her phone as she texted Gojo Satoru: [Teacher Gojo, the Gaio mansion is under attack by jujutsu sorcerers.]

Within seconds, Gojo's voice message popped up, dripping with his usual playful tone: "Don't worry, Fubuki-chan! I'm on my way~"

Another message followed almost immediately: [Oh, I might not even need to show up~]

Fubuki frowned at the text. What does that mean? Is Gojo involved somehow? She was about to demand an explanation when her ears caught a sound—the barrier Rin had set up at the back of the mansion had been breached.

Taking a deep breath, she stood and called out to the girls hiding below: "Stay put."

She spread her arms, emerald-green light radiating from her body. "Think you can underestimate me? I'm Hellish Blizzard, a B-Class hero!"

---

Kazumasa slammed his fist on the desk, the scar-faced man's screams blaring through the radio, grating on his nerves.

He stared at the surveillance feed of the Gaio mansion—blue-and-white sword light shredded the sealing nets, crimson dragonfire melted cursed tools, and green wind blades tore through tactical vests like paper.

His carefully selected "elite" team was scrambling over the walls in retreat, some clutching broken limbs, others bloodied from Tohru's tail. They looked like a pack of beaten dogs.

"Useless!" Kazumasa snarled, hurling a pen at the screen. "They said the Gaio mansion had no defenses, and they can't even handle a few women?!"

His secretary flinched, too scared to speak. Kazumasa took several deep breaths, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number. His tone shifted to one of deference: "Principal Gakuganji, the mansion's defenses are far stronger than anticipated. We need your 'assistance.'"

An aged voice came through the phone. "Kazumasa-kun, you know stealing Tengen's body was already a massive risk—"

"I know," Kazumasa interrupted, his fingers digging into his palm. "But if we capture Gaio's women, we can control him. The jujutsu world's influence, the mech project's funding, even the Tenrai's seat—it'll all be ours."

Gakuganji was silent for a moment before responding slowly, "Fine. I'll send my 'Secret Rite Team.' They specialize in spatial sealing curses. Even a dragon can't escape their domain."

A sinister grin spread across Kazumasa's face. "Thank you, Principal."

Just as he was about to hang up, Gakuganji's voice cut through: "Gaio…?"

A loud crash followed, making Kazumasa's ears ring. He shouted into the phone, "Principal? Principal!"

There was no response—only a soft chuckle. "I've never seen someone so bold before."

"N-Nero…?" Kazumasa's voice trembled with fear. How was he found out? Nero was supposed to be chasing Tenrai—I made sure the intel was leaked!

"Yep, it's me. Hang on just a sec, I'll be there soon."

Click. The call ended.

Kazumasa's hand shook as he held the phone, his face pale as paper. Nero's chuckle echoed in his mind, cutting into him like a blade.

He remembered the fire in Gutter City, the "untouchable" symbols reduced to ash, and Gaio standing before the Franxx mech—not as if facing a towering machine, but a pile of worthless junk.

"No… impossible…" he muttered, grabbing the radio and shouting, "Scar! Scar! Retreat now! Nero's coming!"

The radio only hissed with static.

Kazumasa smashed it to the floor, fragments scattering. He clutched his head, his face twisted in rage and confusion. How did my plan fail so quickly?

He didn't notice his secretary's horrified expression.

"Oh? A bold schemer throwing a tantrum?" A familiar chuckle came from just ahead.

Kazumasa's legs gave out, nearly sliding off his chair. He gripped the desk's edge and looked up toward the voice. "H-How are you here?"

"Oh, that?" Gaio lounged on a sofa, 02 at his side. "I was on my way, but…" He tapped his temple, his smile almost innocent. "My senses told me someone was paying a visit to my home. So, I figured I should deal with these 'uninvited guests' first, don't you think?"

Gaio's smile held no warmth, only a chilling killing intent.

"Whoops, my bad. Forgot to bring a gift for my visit."

He snapped his fingers, and a thin spatial rift opened in front of Kazumasa.

A round object rolled out from the rift.

Blood instantly soaked the desk.

Kazumasa's eyes widened, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints as he realized what the object was.

A severed head—Principal Gakuganji's.

"Lord Nero, I was wrong!" Kazumasa dropped to his knees, hands braced on the floor, forehead slamming against the cold tiles. "It was the Prime Minister! He forced me to target those women! I didn't dare defy him!"

Gaio stood over him, looking down. "The Prime Minister?"

He chuckled softly. "But I heard you on the phone saying, 'No matter how powerful Gaio is, he'll have to kneel before me.' Did the Prime Minister make you say that?"

Kazumasa's shoulders trembled. He looked up, tears and sweat streaming down his face. "I-I was confused! I'll never do it again! Please spare me!"

"Don't worry, I'm not some demon. You won't feel any pain." Gaio's voice sent shivers through Kazumasa.

"No! You can't kill me! I'm the head of the Cabinet Intelligence Office! If you kill me, you're—" Kazumasa's words cut off as the world spun. His last sight before losing consciousness was his own headless body.

---

In the Gaio mansion's courtyard, the last wisps of smoke drifted away on the evening breeze.

Saber stood on the steps, leaning on Excalibur. Scratches on her blue-and-white armor glowed faintly silver—marks of clashing cursed energy. Blood dripped from the sword's edge onto the stone tiles, leaving small red stains.

She glanced at her blade, then at the scattered bodies of their enemies, her expression odd.

"Saber!" Fubuki rushed out from the living room, freezing at the sight of the corpses littering the courtyard.

Saber turned, her gaze sharpening again. "Fubuki, more enemies?"

Fubuki snapped out of it and shook her head. "No, there were some, but just as I was about to act, they were… cut down."

Saber planted her sword in the ground, hands resting on the hilt. "That was Master's doing."

Tohru, her tail still wrapped around Kanna, floated over. "Those countless flashes of light were Gaio? Isn't he still away?"

Saber and Fubuki exchanged a glance and smiled. Fubuki explained, "Gaio-kun's swordsmanship can slice through space. Even from thousands of miles away, if he wants to, he can strike."

"That… that strong?" Tohru knew Gaio was powerful—strong enough to force her father, the Emperor of Demise, to retreat—but to strike from so far away?

Saber scanned the courtyard. "We need to clean up these bodies before they scare Marin and the others."

Before she could finish, countless tiny spatial rifts opened beneath each corpse, swallowing them whole.

"This… this is Gaio's power too?" Tohru gaped, stunned. "It's like the perfect skill for cleaning up a crime scene!"

Fubuki giggled, waving her hands to summon water from the courtyard's pond with her telekinesis, washing away the bloodstains. "Pretty handy, right?"

"You're one to talk with that ability of yours," Saber teased.

Fubuki rolled her eyes. "Always picking on me." Her expression sobered. "I wonder how Gaio-kun's doing. Why were there so many enemies attacking?"

Saber frowned slightly. "No need to worry about Master. He's unmatched. Our job is to keep the house safe."

Tohru and Fubuki nodded solemnly. Kanna, still held by Tohru's tail, raised her tiny fists. "Kanna can protect everyone too!"

Her adorable declaration eased the tension, and the three girls softened, smiling.

Kyoto, the Imperial Palace, during a grand banquet.

The festive mood had turned heavy the moment the Imperial Guard stormed in. The Tenrai, who was supposed to have been escorted to an underground fortress minutes ago, now sat rigidly.

In the center of the hall stood a man and a woman.

Gaio and 02.

The heads of the zaibatsu families seated along the sides were lost in thought but too afraid to speak. They had witnessed the guards vanish instantly, and the Tenrai's closest aide had been sliced apart trying to flee through the door.

Among them, Kaguya's brother, Shinomiya Kogane, was the most shocked. He knew Gaio was bold and domineering, but to act this way in front of the Tenrai—without decorum, even killing—was unimaginable.

"Tenrai," Gaio spoke into the silent room, his voice carrying a hint of mockery rather than respect.

"Nero," the Tenrai replied, recognizing the man before him—Neon's rising star and special consultant to the jujutsu world.

"Sorry about burning down your palace in East Kyoto."

"No matter. I trust it was a moment of anger," the Tenrai said, his tone remarkably flexible.

"Oh, and I brought a gift." Gaio's smile was sly.

"You're too kind." The Tenrai even bowed slightly in thanks.

Gaio snapped his fingers, and a rift tore open in the space beside him. Dozens of severed heads rolled out.

The stench of blood filled the opulent hall.

Everyone's eyes widened, throats bobbing as they stared at the gruesome scene. This wasn't just disrespect—it was a direct challenge to the Tenrai.

The Tenrai's eyes bulged, darting between the heads and Gaio. Fear and fury warred within him, but he didn't dare speak.

"These are the ones who attacked my home," Gaio said, nudging two heads forward with a flick of his finger. "This one, Kazumasa, was the mastermind. And this one's Gakuganji, principal of Kyoto Jujutsu High, a conservative in the jujutsu world who stole Tengen's body."

He slipped his hands into his pockets, smirking at the Tenrai.

Cold sweat beaded on the Tenrai's forehead. He gripped his seat cushion, palms slick. "Nero, this was all Kazumasa and Gakuganji's doing. I had no knowledge of it," he said, his voice laced with appeasement and a slight tremor.

"Is that so? Good to know. By the way, I heard the Prime Minister was involved too. Should I bring him here?"

"No, no need! I'll initiate impeachment proceedings immediately and have him arrested for endangering national security!"

Gaio chuckled. "Sounds good. I'll leave it to you, Tenrai."

"No… no trouble at all."

"And one more thing," Gaio said, his smile fading, replaced by pure killing intent. "Don't bother me again, or the next 'gift' I bring won't be so small."

"Y-Yes…" the Tenrai's voice shook.

Gaio nodded, took 02's hand, and left the hall, leaving behind a floor littered with severed heads.

---

The blood's stench still lingered in the hall when the Tenrai slammed his fist on the table.

A teacup shattered on the floor, fragments scattering. His face flushed red, veins bulging. "That Nero! How dare he cause a scene in my domain!"

His elderly aide knelt, trembling. "Your Majesty, please, lower your voice—"

"Lower my voice?" The Tenrai hurled a wine glass, which smashed against a pillar. "He's trampling over me! Those heads, that blood—he's humiliating me!"

"But, Your Majesty," the aide said shakily, "Nero's power… we can't oppose him."

The words hit like a bucket of ice water, dousing the Tenrai's rage. He recalled Gaio casually tearing space apart, the guards vanishing without a chance to resist, and his own groveling. He felt like a rat with its tail pinned—angry yet terrified.

"Go!" he barked, pointing at the door. "Issue my orders: impeach the Prime Minister and arrest him for endangering national security! And find Kazumasa's body—grind it to dust!"

"Yes, Your Majesty." The aide scurried out.

The Tenrai slumped in his chair, staring at the heads on the floor, his fingers nervously tugging at his robe.

He remembered Gaio's parting words: "Don't bother me again, or the next 'gift' I bring won't be so small." The words were a knife to his chest, stealing his breath.

"Your Majesty…" a trembling voice broke the silence—Shinomiya Kogane, drenched in sweat. "What does Nero want?"

The Tenrai glanced at him, a bitter smile twisting his lips. "He wants us to know who truly rules."

---

In the Gaio mansion's courtyard, Fubuki, Tohru, Saber, and Kanna sat on the steps, gazing at the moon.

Kanna leaned against Tohru, licking a lollipop. "Tohru, why can't Marin-nee come out yet?"

Tohru ruffled her hair with a smile. "We're waiting for Gaio. Only when he's back is everything truly settled."

Saber, hands resting on Excalibur's hilt, remained serious. "Master should be back soon."

Fubuki nodded, pulling Kanna into a hug. "Yeah, soon. I just checked—Gutter City's been burned to ashes."

A ripple in the air shimmered, and Gaio stepped out with 02.

The girls jumped to their feet. "Master!" "Gaio-kun!" "Gaio!"

Gaio walked over, holding 02's hand, and grinned. "I'm back."

Tohru approached, Kanna in her arms, smiling. "Those enemies were tricky, but now that you're here, it's all good."

Saber's expression stayed stern, though her eyes sparkled with warmth. "Welcome back, Master. The enemies have been dealt with, but…"

Fubuki linked her arm with Gaio's. "Gaio-kun, a ton of people with weird cursed tools showed up. Saber and Tohru handled them like champs, but I'm wondering if there'll be more trouble."

Gaio patted Kanna's head, gave Tohru's shoulder a reassuring squeeze, and looked at Fubuki with a comforting smile. "You all did great. There won't be any more trouble. I've already met with the Tenrai and taken care of everything."

Marin, Kaguya, Rin, and Sakura cautiously emerged from their hiding spot. Marin's eyes welled up as she rushed over and clung to Gaio's arm. "Gaio-kun, you're finally back! We were so scared!"

Kaguya sat gracefully beside him, a faint smile on her lips. "Gaio-kun, I trust you've handled everything."

Rin crossed her arms, feigning confidence. "Hmph, I knew you'd take care of it."

Sakura stepped closer, her voice soft. "Brother-in-law, I'm just glad you're okay."

Gaio looked at the girls gathered around him. "As long as the Tenrai's smart, this won't happen again."

They all shared a smile, and under the moonlight, the Gaio mansion's courtyard was once again filled with warmth.
