Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Hu Tao’s First Summon! The Legendary Wangsheng Funeral Parlor!

---

Hearing the resounding voice, Hu Tao's pupils suddenly contracted, a current coursing through her mind.

"Legend!?"

"Just by the sound of that rarity, you know it's amazing!"

Golden-orange light wrapped around the back of the card, spiraling along its edges. Then, after a single spin, the card floated to a stop before Hu Tao.

[Wangsheng Funeral Parlor]

[Field Spell]

[Effect 1]: Zombie monsters on this field gain 500 ATK.

[Effect 2]: Once per turn, you can send two Zombie monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard.

[Effect 3]: Each time you Summon a Zombie monster, place one "Exorcism Counter."

Staring at the card, Lu You was dumbfounded.

This… this was beyond his expectations.

A Field Spell Card Wangsheng Funeral Parlor? That didn't even exist in Yu-Gi-Oh!

He had just been calling Skull Servant a trash card, and then Hu Tao pulled a custom Field Spell tied to her own parlor!

Hu Tao leapt up the moment the card appeared before her.

"Whoa! It's actually Wangsheng Funeral Parlor!"

"Shopkeeper, why do you have a card like this!?"

"This is way too cool!"

Lu You was speechless. He had no idea either this had to be the system's doing.

Changing the subject, he said quickly,

"Master Hu, keep drawing you've still got three more!"

Hu Tao didn't question it further and continued drawing.

"Normal!"

"Normal!"

"Rare!"

Her next three pulls were:

Two Normals both Skull Servants.

[Skull Servant]

[Star 1]

[DARK | Zombie]

[300 ATK | 200 DEF]

"Description: A skeletal ghost that isn't strong, but can cause trouble in large numbers."

And one Rare King of the Skull Servants.

[King of the Skull Servants]

[Star 1]

[DARK | Zombie]

[0 ATK / 0 DEF]

[Effect 1]: The original ATK of this card is equal to the number of "King of the Skull Servants" and "Skull Servant" cards in your GY × 1000.

[Effect 2]: When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can banish one "King of the Skull Servants" or "Skull Servant" (except this card) from your GY; Special Summon this card.

A single deck could hold up to three copies of each card.

Which meant Hu Tao could run three [Skull Servants] and three [King of the Skull Servants] together.

With Wangsheng Funeral Parlor sending Skull Servants to the Graveyard...

She could summon a King of the Skull Servants with 5000 ATK!

Of course, explaining all that to Hu Tao right now would be complicated and actually setting it up would be no small feat either.

Still, Hu Tao had pulled three Skull Servants already, so more would be redundant. For Lu You, what mattered most was that the customers were having fun… and that the sales kept coming.

The finer rules and strategies could come later after the cards were sold. The crowd watching Hu Tao's pulls was thrilled.

When they heard her shout "Legend!" and saw her draw a legendary [Wangsheng Funeral Parlor], even those who didn't understand the game felt their blood boil.

Excited, Hu Tao clutched her exclusive card and dashed toward the Duel Device.

"Shopkeeper! Can I test the card?!"

Lu You nodded.

"Master Hu, you may use it freely."

With his permission, Hu Tao's eyes sparkled with anticipation. Mimicking Lu You's earlier actions, she slapped a [Skull Servant] card onto the Monster Zone.

A goofy skeleton in a tattered blue robe appeared on the Duel Field.

It grinned at Hu Tao and she grinned right back, barely holding back the urge to perform a funeral rite for it.

"Whoa!"

"This is amazing!!!"

"These cards can really summon monsters!"

Then Hu Tao swallowed hard and proudly brought out her Legendary card, [Wangsheng Funeral Parlor]. But this time, it didn't go smoothly a flash of red light, and the Duel Device beeped an error.

Hu Tao froze in shocked.

"Shopkeeper!"

"What's going on!?"

"Why won't my Wangsheng Funeral Parlor come out!?"

Lu You immediately realized the issue he hadn't explained how to operate the Duel Device. Hu Tao had just been copying his earlier actions!

She had tried to place a Field Spell card in the Monster Zone, which caused the device to reject it.

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, cards had specific placement areas Monster Zone, Spell/Trap Zone, and Field Zone. Since Wangsheng Funeral Parlor was a Field Spell, it had to go in the Field Zone.

Seeing her confusion, Lu You quickly guided her.

"Master Hu, you placed it in the wrong zone you need to put Wangsheng Funeral Parlor in the Field Zone!"

He pointed to the correct spot.

Hu Tao finally found it and carefully placed the card there.

A burst golden light erupted-

The Duel Field transformed into Wangsheng Funeral Parlor itself!

The Skull Servant she had Summoned earlier suddenly grew stronger, its attack power rising from 300 to 800 ATK.

Seeing that, Hu Tao's confidence soared.

"Muahahaha!"

"In the upcoming Liyue Harbor Duel Tournament, the champion will definitely be me, Hu tao!"
