(ANGELO'S POV)
By the time we're finally done with everything, it's already past one in the morning.
My body feels heavy, my brain feels like static, and my nose still aches where that asshole punched me.
The drive back to my place is another hour, and the thought of navigating empty roads half-asleep makes my skull throb.
So yeah. I cave.
I tell Val I'm crashing at his place.
Now I'm standing under the shower in one of his guest bedrooms, the cold water beating down on me, loosening the tense muscles under my skin. My eyes are closed as I press my forehead against the cool tile, and for a few seconds I nearly fall asleep in that position.
After a while, I shut the water off and grab a towel, wrapping it low around my waist before stepping out into the bedroom.
That's when a knock comes from the door.
"Come in," I call.
The door opens and Val walks in, carrying some folded clothes.
"Fresh change for tonight," he says, tossing them onto the bed.
