Valentino doesn't call like that unless something's wrong.
Not wrong in the dramatic sense. Not a bad mood. Not a disagreement. Wrong in the way your gut tightens before your brain catches up. Wrong in the way you already know your day just took a hard left turn.
"Come over. Now."
That's all he says before hanging up.
No explanation. No sarcasm. No filler.
Just urgency.
By the time I pull onto the road leading up to the villa, my jaw is already tight. Val doesn't summon people unless he's about to drop something heavy, and judging by the shitstorm we've been circling lately, I can guess this isn't a casual update.
As I slow down near the gate, headlights flash ahead of me.
Alessandra's car.
Of course she beat me here.
The gate recognizes her plate and slides open. Her car glides through and I follow right behind, the gravel crunching under my tires as we drive into the compound.
The courtyard comes into view, wide and immaculately lit.
Bruno's already there.
