(RAFFAELE'S POV)
My phone won't stop fucking ringing.
It keeps vibrating in my hand like it has a pulse of its own, Papà flashing across the screen. Val, Angelo, Leo, Bruno, and Sandra are all staring at me like they're waiting for a bomb to go off.
"Well? Answer it," Angelo says.
I don't. I just keep looking at the screen. The longer it rings, the heavier it feels.
"Why the hell is he calling right now?" I mutter. "Of all times."
"Maybe he already heard about the assassination attempt," Val says.
"There's no way he already knows," I reply. "That shit literally just happened."
Angelo snorts. "In case you've forgotten, our father has eyes and ears in places we don't even know exist."
I exhale sharply. "It's most likely about what went down that night. It has to be."
"What if it isn't?" Val asks. "What if he's calling about something else?"
