(KRYSTAL'S POV)
I knew something terrible would happen.
I felt it sitting in my chest, this pressure that wouldn't go away no matter how hard I tried to pretend everything was fine.
And then it hit. Harder than I ever imagined.
I still remember how my heart nearly split in two when I got the call. I remember the way my hands trembled so violently I could barely grab my keys. I remember how my body shook all the way to the hospital, like every cell in me already knew the answer I didn't want to hear.
The doctors took out the bullet. They said he lost a dangerous amount of blood, but they managed to save him.
"He's really lucky," one of them said.
Now I'm sitting here, almost two full days later, and Valentino still hasn't opened his eyes.
I haven't left his side ever since. His hand has been in mine the whole time, my thumb brushing over his knuckles again and again like I can keep him tethered to this world if I just don't stop touching him.
