Chapter 49 – The Million-Year Second Spirit Ring

"Xiao Yuhao, are you ready? Big brother's coming in again!"

Hearing the words of Skydream Ice Silkworm crawling atop his shoulders, Huo Yuhao, sitting cross-legged, felt an involuntary twitch in the corner of his lips.

He directly activated his Spirit Eyes Martial Spirit. Above the already-formed purple spirit ring beneath him, a faint violet phantom began slowly condensing into form.

Soon, as the deep, radiant purple spirit ring solidified completely, Skydream Ice Silkworm's voice, tinged with astonishment, rang out once more.

"This spirit contract really is remarkable! To think a single spirit beast can provide more than one spirit ring. Brother feels we are one step closer to godhood."(T/N: Don't ask me anything. Even I don't understand it. Who read the original? Is it really possible?)

With that, he opened the seal within his spiritual sea again. The colossal spiritual origin of a million-year cultivation surged like a raging flood, pouring entirely into Huo Yuhao's Spiritual Sea. The already substantial Spiritual Sea expanded further, absorbing every drop of Ice Silkworm's immense power.

"Brother Skydream, how many more spirit rings can you provide now?"

Hearing Huo Yuhao's question, Skydream Ice Silkworm's mood dipped immediately.

"Providing this second spirit ring has already drained all my remaining energy. From now on, you'll have to acquire spirit rings on your own."

"Compared to the first spirit ring, this one grants only two spirit skills. One is the simulation you wanted. The other… well, I'm not exactly sure what it is—you'll need to experiment yourself. Once your physical strength reaches the necessary level, the power of these two spirit skills will likewise meet the million-year standard."

"That's enough."

Huo Yuhao nodded. In his previous life, his second spirit ring had come from a thousand-year Ice Silkworm. Although Brother Skydream had later enhanced it to a hundred thousand years, it still couldn't compare to a million-year spirit ring.

Yet, Skydream Ice Silkworm seemed dissatisfied. He let out a low hum, his tone tinged with regret.

"If those wretched fools in the Star Dou Great Forest hadn't absorbed my energy, your Spirit Eyes Martial Spirit's spirit ring could have been mine entirely. Those despicable creatures… Brother will make them pay, all of them, sooner or later."

"Cough, cough…"

Hearing this, Huo Yuhao suddenly stiffened and coughed twice.

But Brother Skydream, lost in his own lament, didn't catch his meaning. He continued tirelessly recounting all the atrocities the ferocious beasts of the Star Dou Great Forest had committed against him, even devising revenge plans tailored for each individual beast.

For example, for the one called Scarlet King, he intended to pluck every hair clean off its neck.

As for Dark Gold Terror Claw Bear, he planned to snap its little paw entirely.

Huo Yuhao, meanwhile, was drenched in sweat. Glancing to the side, he noticed Gu Yuena—who had been upstairs earlier, fiddling with the Blue Silver Grass Tang Ya had gifted her—now standing silently in the doorway of his workspace.

She leaned subtly against the frame, her purple eyes narrowing slightly as she watched the still-chattering Skydream Ice Silkworm.

"Brother Skydream, that's enough."

Huo Yuhao's lips moved, a soft voice finally reaching the other's ears.

Snapping out of his self-indulgent state, the Skydream Ice Silkworm felt a sudden chill run down his spine. Instinctively, he turned—and upon seeing the silver-haired figure at the doorway, froze completely.

After a long moment, he stammered awkwardly,

"Ah… cough, cough, Brother suddenly remembered I haven't had my nap today… I'll go rest first."

With that, he dared not linger a second longer. Transforming into a wisp of white light, he dove into Huo Yuhao's spiritual sea and vanished.

Finally awake, finally getting a bit of air… and nearly losing his life. The human world is far too terrifying. He wanted to return to the Extreme North.

"All done?"

Seeing the Skydream Ice Silkworm flee in panic, Gu Yuena withdrew her gaze and turned to Huo Yuhao.

He smiled and nodded. Almost two years had passed since their return from the Star Dou Great Forest.

In these two years, nights had been spent meditating and cultivating; days had been spent practicing the Destined Death techniques with Gu Yuena, making Spirit Tools, and—starting a year ago—occasionally visiting Jiang Nannan's home to dine and chat with her mother, Jiang Wanjun.

The drinking therapy Huo Yuhao had suggested had indeed worked. Her post-illness side effects recovered significantly faster, and within just over two months, she had fully healed.

Though the treatment had ended, Jiang Wanjun continued to enjoy occasional drinks.

It was during one such casual conversation that Huo Yuhao had learned her name.

Though curious why Jiang Nannan shared her mother's surname, there were stranger matters at play.

Jiang Wanjun was clearly an ordinary person. Even if her husband had talent, Jiang Nannan's Spirit Power aptitude shouldn't have been exceptional.

Huo Yuhao himself was a prime example: a child's talent typically reflected both parents' abilities, particularly at the top-tier level.

Yet Jiang Nannan, a civilian by birth, ranked among the top even in Shrek Academy, her early Spirit Power levels comparable to those of Bei Bei and Xu Sanshi.

Over the year, Huo Yuhao also noticed that Jiang Wanjun never mentioned Jiang Nannan's father. One thought struck him immediately:

Could she have been adopted?

But this was clearly a private matter. If they didn't mention it, he had no intention of prying.

Amid this fulfilling life, Huo Yuhao's Spirit Power had finally reached Level 20 just a few days ago. Even considering the enhancements from the Sin of Pride, his Spirit Capacity exceeded that of ordinary humans, making this level far beyond what he had achieved in his previous life. (T/N: Only 20!!! Are you kidding me? By the time he reaches the title Douluo, Tang San will be a god.)

With the second spirit ring provided by Brother Skydream, Huo Yuhao, now a Spirit Grandmaster, prepared to journey to the Extreme North before Tang Ya returned from the Academy.

As Huo Yuhao slowly rose, Gu Yuena's gaze fell upon his newly condensed second spirit ring.

"If humans saw you condensing a spirit ring like this, they might think you were recreating a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast."

"Perhaps," Huo Yuhao tugged at the corner of his lips, "I've actually encountered that before. By the way, I might have to travel far in a few days."

"Hmm?" Gu Yuena lifted her eyes. "Where to?"

"The Extreme North."

Thinking of the white-haired figure, Huo Yuhao's lips curved slightly. "Going there to meet a few friends."

Gu Yuena pondered briefly, then tentatively asked, "Snow Empress?"

Huo Yuhao was stunned. "You know her?"

"No, just heard Di Tian once report about the ruler of the Extreme North. Seems she's a decisive, capable spirit beast leader."

She paused, glancing at him meaningfully.

"And you… know her personally?"

"No."

Huo Yuhao opened his mouth, hesitated, then let out a soft sigh.

"I know her. She doesn't know me."

"Are you hoping to make her a spirit soul? Judging from Di Tian's reports, she won't agree easily."

Understanding his intention, Gu Yuena thought for a moment. Then she raised her head. "Shall I accompany you?"

"You're not planning to use your position as a spirit beast leader to force her, are you?"

Huo Yuhao twitched, blinking at her. Then he shook his head with a smile.

"Thanks, but this trip is about friendship. If the spirit beast leader follows, it'd ruin the purpose. I'll go alone. I'll leave the house in your care."

"Mm."

Gu Yuena didn't insist. She lowered her gaze to the Blue Silver Grass Tang Ya had given her. After a moment of silence, she spoke softly, repeating what Huo Yun'er and Tang Ya often said:

"Return soon."

Huo Yuhao paused, then smiled and nodded.

"All right."

In the Spiritual Sea, the Skydream Ice Silkworm was dumbstruck.

If not for the identical aura, he could hardly have connected this girl before him with the Spirit Beast Sovereign, even the Beast God Di Tian respectfully addressed as Master.

"Yuhao."

Hearing Brother Skydream's sudden solemn tone, Huo Yuhao instinctively responded,

"What is it, Brother Skydream?"

"I've never asked you for anything in my life…"

"Today, I kneel before you. Please teach me a few moves. I'm heading to the Extreme North. I beg you…"

"…."

Hearing his voice grow choked, Huo Yuhao couldn't help rolling his eyes.

"But I didn't do anything, and Gu Yuena seems perfectly normal…"

Do you even understand what normal is?

"Yuhao, I mean…"

Seeing his puzzled expression, Brother Skydream hesitated, unable to finish.

"Ahem, just… be careful. I have a feeling the people around you may not have good intentions. One day, you might…"

He thought for a while and finally found the right phrase:

"Be completely devoured."
