Chapter 16 - The Hollow March”

Scene 1 — The Redd Knight Awakens

SFX: THUM… THUM… THUM…

A dull heartbeat echoes through the rain-drenched ruins.

The Redd Knight moves like a phantom — its footsteps shaking the asphalt.

Rain streaks down its armor, steam rising where droplets touch glowing metal.

SFX: shhhhh—CRACK—!

The Knight pauses at the sound of distant sirens. A patrol vehicle rounds the corner — headlights slicing through the fog.

Officer (off-screen): "Hey! You there! Stop where you are—!"

SFX: KRRRSHHH—!

A red blur moves. The street erupts in sparks and flame.

When the smoke clears, the car is sliced clean in half, molten edges hissing.

The Redd Knight steps through the wreckage, its eyes glowing faintly beneath the visor.

Redd Knight (distorted): "Weakness has a scent. Fear… a taste."

It reaches toward a trembling officer pinned under debris.

The man's breath quickens, terror flooding the air — and the red aura feeds on it.

SFX: fwooom—WHRRRRRRR—!

The Knight's chest sigil pulses violently, drawing energy from the man's fear until only silence remains.

Narrator:

"It was not hunger…

It was memory — the shard remembering what it once was."

Scene 2 — Glass Tower Recovery Room

SFX: beep… beep… beep…

Dante sits shirtless on a metal bed, his upper body wrapped in gauze.

Ada stands beside him, fiddling with a portable scanner while Raen leans against the window.

Ada (quiet): "Your vitals are stabilizing, but the resonance… it's still there."

Raen (arms crossed): "So he's basically a cursed battery now."

Dante (half-smile): "At least I'm rechargeable."

Raen rolls her eyes. "Don't joke about that. Whatever's inside you, it's calling to something out there."

Dante glances at the rain-soaked city outside. For a fleeting moment, he feels it — a pull.

A faint hum echoes in his mind.

Shard (whisper): "We are never apart."

He grips the edge of the bed, jaw tightening.

Ada notices.

Ada (firm): "You felt it again, didn't you?"

Dante: "Yeah. It's… hunting."

SFX: BOOOOOOM—!

The tower trembles — shockwaves ripple through the floor.

Raen immediately draws her weapon. "Speak of the devil."

Scene 3 — The Redd Knight's March

SFX: THUD… THUD… THUD…

The Redd Knight moves through the industrial district, each step leaving cracks in the concrete.

The air bends around it — the heat from its aura distorting reality itself.

Redd Knight (low): "The host's pulse calls me still.

His fear will finish my rebirth."

A group of guild hunters spot the figure from a distance, mistaking it for a rogue exorcist.

Hunter 1: "Hey, whoever you are! Identify your guild!"

Hunter 2: "Something's wrong with its energy reading—!"

SFX: SKREEEE—!

A wave of red light surges forward — buildings distort, glass warps.

The hunters are flung back by the sheer pressure, their weapons shattering.

SFX: BOOM—CRASH—THUD!

One survivor crawls away, trembling. "What… the hell is that thing?"

The Knight tilts its head slightly — the gesture almost human, almost curious.

Redd Knight (calm): "Once, I was fear's prisoner.

Now… I am its armor."

It steps forward — and vanishes into a streak of red lightning.

Scene 4 — The Alliance

Inside the Glass Tower's lower war room, Dante, Ada, and Raen stand around a glowing digital map.

Several guild leaders flicker in through holographic projection.

Guild Master #1: "You're telling us that thing used to be inside you?"

Dante (dryly): "You say it like I meant to invite it."

Guild Master #2: "Whatever it is, it's already leveled half the industrial sector."

Raen (tight-lipped): "Then we move now. Before it finds him again."

Ada slams a small vial onto the table. The liquid inside glows faintly blue.

Ada: "If we combine his residual link with this suppressant, we might lure it — temporarily contain it."

Raen: "Might?"

Ada: "It's the best we've got."

SFX: BZZT—KRRRSHHH—!

A nearby monitor flickers — static fills the screen before stabilizing.

Surveillance Feed: The Redd Knight, standing amidst the storm, turning its head slowly toward the camera.

Raen (grim): "It already knows we're watching."

Dante (low, resolved): "Then let it come."

He grips his sword, faint red veins glowing beneath his bandaged hand.

Dante (whisper): "I'll face it again — not as its host, but as its judge."

Scene 5 — Closing Montage

SFX: drip… drip… thunder rumbling

— The Redd Knight walking through fire, dragging its blade behind it.

— Ada mixing the suppressant, the blue liquid swirling.

— Raen sharpening her blade, sparks flying.

— Dante standing alone at the window, eyes faintly glowing red-blue — the last remnants of the shard inside him flickering like a dying flame.

Narrator:

"When fear finds its vessel… it does not fade.

It learns.

It waits.

It marches."

SFX: THUM… THUM… THUM…

(The Redd Knight's footsteps echo over the city.)
