Ayla's POV
It was Sophie Langford.
One of my high school nemeses.
Elena was not the only one. Sophie was one too. And back then, she was the one I feared more.
In those days, people called her the Solaria Angel. The Solaria Star. To everyone else, she was light itself. Kind. Gentle. Untouchable.
But not to me.
To me, she was worse than a devil.
The same Sophie Langford who acted like she cared. Who pretended to help me. Who smiled softly and spoke gently while making my life harder than living hell. She gave me a bad name, a terrible impression, a ruined image in front of everyone.
That day at the swimming pool, she pushed me in.
And then she became the angel who saved me.
To everyone else, she was the Solaria Goddess.
To me, she was something far more terrifying.
I stood there frozen, trembling, all those old memories circulating violently in my head as she walked past me.
Before I could breathe.
Before I could think.
Before I could even hide properly.
